Hi All,
is there a way to test which ABS sensor is faulty on a 206 without access to Planet? It would be very useful if so..
thanks

Re: 2002 206 HDI ABS Sensor testing
Mike,
Someone will be along shortly no doubt to tell you how to check out expected resistances of the sensors and how to measure them from appropriate pins in the abs connector which is probablly the answer you need.
In the meantime my recent experience of ABS sensors on non-french vehicles of similar vintage may be of some small benefit.
1. Was an obvious wiring fault front drivers side where the strut had been chafing the abs sensor wire. I could have repaired it with a bit of soldering and saved myself £40 at ECP for a new sensor wire and connector.
2. Simply going round and scraping the rust from every "notch" of the reluctor ring with an electrician's screwdriver and getting a bit of bright metal on the ridges, and a general dousing and cleaning in electrical contact cleaner brought another "duff" sensor back to working correctly.
If your car has the simple arrangement of reluctor rings on the end of driveshafts, it may well be worth checking the reluctor rings at each corner ( not loose/ missing "teeth" and give them a robust cleaning up), and checking the last lap of the wiring physically at each corner.
Definitely don't need a "planet" or even a multimeter and you may well find it puts out the light anyway
Regards Neil

Thanks Neil!
Car failed on "ABS light not illuminating". It's my brother's. He removed the dash pod, to find a piece of black foam stuck over the bulb.
He had already replaced a reluctor ring prior to the MOT, as it was obvious that was knackered. The light didn't go out once the foam was removed.
His nerdy mate crawled around the car with an oscilloscope but admitted defeat - turns out it had two duff sensors, which were throwing them off the scent a bit. Now replaced, car has ABS and MOT!
