Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Well after nearly seven years of happy ownership the old girl has come to the end of the road. I've bought an Alfa 159 1.9 diesel.

So it's a 1994 Xantia 1.9d. MOT expires later this month and it's now sorned. Its still a pretty good car but will probably need a bit of work to pass another MOT so I'm planning to break it for spares.

I have soma cooling system problem with my C5 MK3, 2.0i. Time to time temp just rises above normal, but when You start driving, it drops, just like in case, when radiator fan is not working. When I tested radiator fan in my garage, it worked as supposted - swithed on, cools egine down, turns off. How many temp sensors are on this engine? Any ideas?

I recently removed the Intake plenum and injectors from a Xantia V6, just to repair the vacuum unit for the crankcase breathing system

The only issue is the gaskets, the two for the plenum, one for the intake manifold and O rings for the injectors. Citroen do not make these anymore, i think gasket paper and sealant should do the intake...

my 2013 C4 has a P21/5W lamp as the DRL. As you know, these lamps are dual filament.
My question is, why are they dual filament?!
So far i have tried turning on every possible light combination and the higher power filament never turns on!

One of my electric sliding doors often fails to close and I noticed that the door is rubbing against the side of the car.

I can see that the middle door runner (the one half way up the car - 9033L4 I think) has no wheels... not sure how that happened but it obviously needs replacing.

Today i notices that if i try to get on a curb in reverse gear i cant do it. The car tries to accelerate but wont climb on the curb. Also, if i floor it in reverse gear the car barely moves, but if press the throttle only partialy it starts moving fine.

Just as having a remap on a manual, you have to learn to drive it differently with the extra power, i.e. with less throttle at start off, otherwise one would be wearing the clutch unnecessarily. Or, accelerating hard in higher gears at lower speeds is another sure way to wear the clutch / DMF, so knowing how finely calibrated these...

Seems my joyous S1 Xant wont lift her nose - unless the leaver is in high , normal the back sits down but the front is all the way up, only moving leaver to low does it sink.

I just spotted a C5 phase 1 traveling around here (Battlefield in South Glasgow) with zero suspension - bouncing on the bump stops. It couldn't be anyone on here.... but the driver was not slowing down or driving carefully or 'limping' home as it were. He was proper ragging it around and believe me it was BOUNCING! I was just wondering is there a real benefit of throttle dampers on the Lucas pumps at least?

I know that the long damper on the front of the pump should smooth out throttle application and the round one at the back of the pump should smooth out return to idle. However, checking them on my Xsara the front one is pretty much gone offering...

Hi Amir and welcome to the Forum. There could be 3 possibilities I can think of at present:
1) The graphics chip in the Head Unit / the Head unit itself.
2) A damaged wire between the Display unit and the Head Unit (they are extremely fragile).

I assume you replaced the Display screen with the exact correct model, as there were 2 variants, but...

Hi guys,

This message appeared this afternoon. My C5 is 2010 X7 1.6HDi model. I was pretty sure it has no DPF because of the engine size and I was pretty sure I did read about that somewhere saying only 2.0+ engines have them.

Any ideas on what to do now... only replacement ($$$$$$) ?

I have had a new one fitted, same faults are appearing.

The car suffers from hesitation around 1700 rpm .

Can anyone id this hose please?
Its dripping what seems to be fresh water rather than coolant.
I cant see anywhere it should be attached to.
Its on my xantia (v6). It goes into the bulkhead jyst above the plastic bag steering rack gaitor.

Worth noting with the Forte stuff that it's safe enough that some manufacturers use it from day one - and Valeo if memory serves state it must be used to validate the warranty of some of their heater matrices! So I wouldn't worry about using it.

Any other leak fixer is a big no-no, but the Forte stuff is decent.

Hi all,

Just found your forum.
Lots of good stuff to read up on!
I've recently bought a Citroen Dispatch 2.0hdi 6 speed manual on 120k.
I was quite desperate at the time and against my good judgement I went for it, even with a rattly engine 🐷
Now what I seem to note having driven it 3k is that it sounds like the cam followers are rattling away...

I agree with Mandrake, using the correct grade of oil and changing it regularly is essential for these HDi engines.
I have used Forte products professionally for years so recommend the stuff and this is what I would do. Pour Forte Motor Flush into the engine with the old oil and go for a good run.Change the oil AND OIL FILTER using fully synthetic...

We've recently bought a C8, and was all running fine. However, today it's started intermittently 'jumping'. Only seems to happen when holding at about 30mph, like it's run out of fuel, but give it some gas, and it's fine. Might not do it again for a while then....???

Any ideas what me might be looking at - and cost wise??? Advisory on last MOT...

It was last serviced in October by previous owner. It has full service history. The last 2 services are from the same garage, which does not include it's phone number on the stamp, and I can't find it on google to call and ask what was done.

Hi all..

Is there a knack to knowing the correct position for the front lower wish bone P bush to go on.? The arm i have already off the car doesnt haveca bush on it.. so i want to get the arm ready to do a swap over... but need to know what orientation and angle it needs to go on...

I'm confused about what or what not to do when having the wheels hanging on the C5. Do I always have to undo the lds tank cap? What about if I'm changing a wheel or having a couple of tyres fitted?

Sadly I have to part company with my Xantia. Great car and great work horse. Currently mechanically well up together with new spheres and rear brake rebuild. Engine smoothest diesel I know, makes most VW group diesels sound like tractors in comparison.
First registered Sept 99, I'm second owner since 2004, always fully serviced by Citroen main...

Finally got some time to have a look at the sinker. New rear sphere cylinder fitted and working, took an age to bleed there was that much air in the system. Offside windows don't work and electronics guy I know says the square copper things in the centre aren't working

In preparing to do the cambelt and camboxs on my xantia I realise that I need to buy a new torque wrench. I used to borrow a set of teng wrenches for this sort of work. My own torque wrench is cheap and nasty, I dont trust it.

What sizes would be a good start? Im guessing I must have the 1/2 drive for the crank. Then do I need the 1/4 or 3/8 for...

I was told when i was lookinģ for these bits that saloon and estate are not the same. As it was mine werent so far gone to need replacing, well one side wasnt, the worst side cost me £350 to get welded with fabricated bits.

Rather than the Citroen dealer ask around the tyre fitting companies to see if any of them have the equipment for pairing TPMS valves. They have equipment that works on a multitude of car makes. It may be cheaper than Citroen that way.

The C4 Grand Picasso seems to have a reputation for a comfortable ride but I find the range of model variants bewildering when it comes to working out what a particular car has (notably high profile tyres). Here in the wilderness it's hedge cutting that does it every time! The tractors cut the hedges then clear off leaving sharp stems all over the road - my last 3 punctures have been down to these idiots.

hi....
i suspect my ecu is faulty as im getting 9 volts from the fps signal wire and it sounds 98% like i need a new one
anyone got any expeirence doing this?
can i get any same ecu as in edc15c2 and get it unlocked or does it have to be serial number?
also does it matter if it was a pug or citroen?

Defo sounds like low on gas as I had similar issues earlier this year. my local main dealer did regas for £45 same price as local independent garage. Changing pollen filter sounds like good advice too as they do get clogged. They can be a bit fiddly to fit but there's a very useful thread on this site with helpful pictures.

It is quite simple to clean the rubber membrane. Just use a mild cleaner (soapy water would do) after taking it out of the key-fob. For the contacts I would use a proper contact cleaner. If the key-fob itself is dirty I would lift out the circuit board and then give it a good clean, drying it with paper towelling.

Hi all,
My dispatch as a problem. Starts fine and drives fine but I was getting an overboost fault. Changed the map sensor, egr and maf and that fault as gone but I'm stuck getting black smoke on hard acceleration. Anyone know what it could be? Every now and then it throws up a egr fault about the position not fully closed.

I know it's a twin turbo set up but is it variable vane or fixed as I understand twin turbo systems can use both. I'm having underboost issues and this stupid car can't even throw a warning light when it goes into limp home, the only indicator is loss...
