C5 Electronic HandBrake Fault *SERVICE* BSI window shut!!

Post by sprout »

OK,

In a right tis here!

Time is not on my side this morning but now I am not going anywhere!!

C5 2008

unlocked central locking, opened drivers door, inserted key in ignition then opened back door to collect things. 1 minute later the ignition is beeping, Service light on, Red parking light flashing, Yellow "auto park off" lit and yellow triangle P lit (electronic parking brake fault)

Now I just somehow think the system knotted up with my opening/key in ignition/rear door etc ?

So I thought a BSI reset (never done one) but cannot lower electric window!

I have a lexia (older software 4.7?) but not sure what will be possible, if anything? as I guess I will not get power for the diagnostics?

Where do I start?

Maybe an obvious question, but have you checked the battery voltage, or tried to give the battery a charge off the car ?

C5's are well known to misbehave with a flat or faulty battery. Could be you're unlucky and your battery chose now to die.

I am in a desperate state here so nothing is too obvious to point out 8-)
I will go check now, probably put on charge as well even if seems OK

The BSI reset is bugging me as on these 2008> models you have to have the engine running following a gone into "economy mode" to get the window down, so hence cannot perform it 8-[

Thanks for taking the time to post

Does the engine start? You can manually release the parking brake I think from under centre storage bin. Check the manual procedure in there. Then at least you can drive it and get it off driveway

Now this will alarm you, but if you were close enough I would kiss you

Battery was down to 8V

Have jump started and now going to get a new battery, I know there may be other issues for the "flatness" but having only had the car for two weeks and the car loving "economy mode" almost immediately I will hope it is just that 8-)

I did not even consider this as all the dash lit up so well, cars I have had in the past would have shut down completely!

So thanks so very much :)

I agree ref Halfords, but I have supported a local business in Bridgwater for over 35 years and while we both have less hair :rofl2: his service remains superb. So 15 minutes after my previous post he had replaced my battery, checked the charging and I was on my way =D>

Hi there! I am new in here and I'll start with very old topic. Sory about my bad english, I'm from Finland :D.

Symptons with my car are almost exactly same as mentioned in this topic. Battery gives 12.5 volts so it might be ok.

Handbrake works from the switch just fine. When I open centrallock, the show starts. There is this sound and many light starts to lid in dashboard.

Earlier there were economy mode. I take battery out of the car and give it a proper charge and there haven't been any economy mode since.

Any suggestions?
