Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I've noticed over the last few....cold....mornings that my heater isn't getting as hot, as quickly, as it used to. I'm assuming it might be time for a new thermostat. Is it buried in the bowels of the engine bay, or a fairly easy job? Any recommends re where to source one....dealer or are aftermarket ones ok?

Just breifly been having cold starting issues with the car, so I have put in new set of glow plugs and now no start at all. I purchased some from ebay which were pure glow GP92405. I now relise that I need to buy some Beru type ones, which are 11 volts the same as I took out. But I was checking the voltage from battery yesterday and the plugs...

Hi guys. Got my car a major service last week. New filters and oil all round.
Still got a lack of power when accelerating and now getting the above fault code.
Classic example on motorway in 6th gear put foot down and engine light came on anti pollution.

Hi peeps
I suspect the solenoid is not working, did stick open a couple of times in the past, due to ill health I haven't used the car for a month or so, I have fuel up to the pump but not at the injectors.
Unfortunately the haynes book is as helpful as a chocolate teapot, it looks like the solenoid is under a plastic housing, I have removed the...

Oh, dear.
It sounds as though you've given up on saving the plastic, which I suspect is the immobiliser and stop solenoid integrated into one. If so, a thin disc in a Dremel can be used to cut a slot in the top of the shear bolt, with collateral damage to the surrounding plastic, then an impact driver, used carefully, should be enough to get them...

Hi all!!!

How easy is it to remove (or at least drop the rear half) of the headlining on a S2 Xantia.

I've had a search and it seems to be remove the grab handles, pull the door seals down, remove trim from pillars, and pull the headlining away from mastic holding it at the rear . Is there anything else I should know?

Hi everyone the high level brake light on the tailgate of my xantia works but the 2 lower ones do not, I have checked the twin filament bulbs and they are ok, I am thinking that they must all work off the one switch on the pedal, does anyone have any suggestions please or had the same problem. many thanks for any help.

The wires that connect to the passenger seat belt tensioner (orange plastic connector) have come out of the connector. Now I don't know which way they came out. I have an orange and yellow wire. Does the orange wire go into the connector to the right on the connector (closest to the passenger door) I wonder..??

I have to replace intake manifold gasket in c5 v6. I found similar on eBay but just wondering if I can use gasket maker sealant instead of oem gasket.

the gasket tube stuff is designed to spread out and dry and turn into a gasket, filling imperfections when torqued down. if you let it go off then fit it i'd imagine it'd just blow or have not dried flat.

I have an issue with one of the Sprockets in the engine.

There is a horrible wobbly and the inside of the sprocket is able to move independently of the actual sprocket. Any word on what might have happened for this to happen and also on the scale of 1 to scrap, how terminal is this.

I'm going to replace all four shocks on the VTS and I think of going with Bilsteins.
The problem is, front shocks for the VTS are 5202.XY and 5202.XZ (left and right), but Bilsteins are said to be adequate as 5202.CY, 5202.CZ, 5202.EA and 5202.EC parts/replacements.
Same thing for the rear shocks, 4 numbers are the same, but lettering is...

Hi,

Was driving to work tonight and when I approach traffic lights, I pressed the brakes and... nothing. Foot straight into the board :shock:
Tried pumping the brakes to no avail - they would not catch.

Managed to crawl into work and took a look underneath. P/S rear has lost the pads and fluid is pissing out of the piston from where I tried...

I am running a hdi pump and injectors on a vw engine in common rail set up. What I am wanting to know is where do the injectors get the power source from as they need 100v 20a supply for them to operate? Can anyone help with this?

Wow! That's a lot to put through the front wheels. Obviously, long term reliability is not a priority for a hill climb car.
I don't think the VW tranny will handle that at all well. Even the GTI was comparatively weak in this area, so a good supply of spares will be needed.
Although, for hill climb, I would have thought RWD was more appropriate,...

It first occurred about 2 weeks ago, but I thought it was due to car being extremely dirty and sensors covered by muck.

My Berlingo rear suspension is listed as having a 'semi-deformable transverse beam'.
My transverse beam no longer deforms - completely rigid, neck breaking on bad roads.

Yes Pete its getting tougher. That was my trade in England panelbeater and sprayer. so l did plenty of welding
for MOT failures. l will bear that in mind although my xantia is in very good nick, that's one of there strongpoints.
l prefer the relaxed attitude of the Control Technique.

Guys. I'm sitting here with a box of matches contemplating burning my car.

When driving around town all is well. When I get higher revs or try I've taking my car misses a beat and sometimes throws up 0087 fuel pressure on ibd scanner.

I was going to order some new tyres and realised I don’t know what size I need.

I’ve chopped and changed the wheels on the S1 a few times over the years and now I can’t remember what size they should have.

A relation of a neighbour is coming to visit them this weekend.
Apparently the tail lights on their '08 C5 have recently packed up and their usual garage has tried and failed to fix them.
My neighbour has volunteered me to fix them, while the car is in the area.

Hello,

the other day Service light lit up and ABS, ESP and Hill Assist faulty message showed up on the display.
It happened on the startup and was gone after I've restarted the car.
Faults are these and they were all noted at the same time:
P0565
P0575
U1308

Could it be because of the dead-ish battery(12.3V when the car is off)?

Just changed my CD from factory fitted. However I have a problem Citroen c5 mk1 2003 auto
Installed new CD player and was working however CD player wouldn't turn off with ignition so I swapped wires around and it would not power up so I swapped back still not powering up. Switched back to factory fitted and this is not powering up now.

Plenty of examples of costly maintenance on these - especially when the clutch needs replacing, leaking hydraulic tanks, faulty actuators, ECU issues, £1000s in some cases spent to repair. You may have been lucky in the years of ownership between each.

The labour rates (dealer admittedly) for replacing the clutch kit on a 6 speed piloted manual...

Good evening everyone,

So the Picasso experience has another interesting chapter.

On the way home this evening, I completely lost power and the car sounded like it turned into a tractor. MiL light and Engine Fault Warning on the screen. Decided to crawl it the 5 or so miles home.

Looks like the front exhaust has dropped explaining the tractor...

It's had a snapped timing belt, and snapped the camshaft in two places, ripped the rocker cover bolts out etc. Obviously the valves will be dead, so new head.

I've been trying to get the head off, but am defeated by the exhaust manifold. I just can't get behind it even with the engine rocked forward on the bottom mount. So I'm thinking engine...

I have a small leisure battery, but would love to get a bigger one. Space is at a premium though. I look at that air filter box and think of how much battery space it takes up.

God knows the DW8 is a boy racer's engine, so I was thinking a cone filter for that extra chavtastic look. But then I discovered that it makes a bit of a chavtastic...

Just before Christmas I was returning from the workshop home and on rounding a corner there was a metallic 'crack' sound. Hello all and happy new year.

I am having a problem with idle on my c5 2.2hdi. The problem is after the car is at working temp and stop with the car out of gear and clutch up the idle is as if its firing on 3, put the clutch peddle down and it idles OK. If I push the clutch down and up a few times at standstill it goes after a while and idles OK...

Hi guys.
I've a citroen c5 Tourer Exclusive 2.0hdi 2011.
My car was almost 2 months in garage without using it. So the battery depleted.
I tried to jump start it with no success. So I took off the battery and charged it outside the vehicle.
Today, after installing the charged battery the car gives no signal whatsoever. Neither a single dash light...

My old pal had a Hyundai Pony, one morning the battery was flat and he pushed it to try to start it, unsuccessfully, he was stuck until the vicar came along with jump leads to 'help' they connected the leads wrong and there was a blue flash.....that's when I got called out.

Can the forum list the reasonably modern Citroen cars say form 2000 onwards that can use 10% added ethanol without problems, or are all older citroens doomed ?

I have finally solved the EGS repair on the C4 caused by sloppy reinstallation of positive lead from battery to the BSM fusebox touching the casing of the main ECU. Sorted after short period (48 months) culminating today in exploratory drag down the local country road outside the front of the property, flipping through the 6 speeds of the EGS...

Driving today on motorway, as soon as I hit the cruise control I got an error on the dash

It said something like EPS/ART error get your car repaired
or EGR/APS anyway the first one started with E and the second started with A
* I know the EGR is a thing, but can't be sure if it said EGR or not.

It is only on the screen for a couple of seconds...

I have a 2005 C5 estate. The rear door (tailgate) has stopped working. I can open the Glass door and then reach in to unlock the door with a screwdriver. Can anyone tell me if the wiring loom is easy to replace or repair, or the approximate cost of dealer repair.

Check the wires inside the flexible conduit (top left) that extends from body to tailgate. I found several wires chewed up on mine, stopping the tailgate from opening and causing intermittent wiper operation. Some cutters/strippers, butt connectors and insulation tape might be all you need to sort it.
