Hi there and C2 Radio issue

Unread post by titcharoony »

Hi all, new user here and first post. My sister has asked if i'd look at her car stereo next week. It's a c2 and the issue is the (std) radio has only ever been able to receive radio 2. Aside from the antenna/cable not being connected properly or whatnot, is there anything I can try settings wise? If i recall from a previous french car of one of my old friends he had a similar problem and it was down to the radio sitting with an incorrect default country (something I wouldn't necessarily know how to change without one being in front of me). I haven't looked at the stereo yet so im unfamiliar with the controls/settings, but was just wondering if anyone had any ideas of what to try? I dont get to see her very often so it'd be nice to fix something for her when i do.

It'll be either the aerial connection from the back of the unit to the roof mounted aerial, or the base of the aerial, where water gets in and can trickle down into the electronics causing signal loss. The other reason could be the head unit, but if it's an RD4, then these are generally quite robust.

The way to check is to get another FM Fakra aerial and plug it directly into the back of the head unit and see if that makes a difference to the signal - if so, then you know the fitted aerial is the issue somewhere along the line - but as said, mostly near the base of the aerial mounting.

On the C2, the aerial goes from the fascia, along to the driver's side and up through the headlining along the right hand side to the rear, then exits at the rear right corner along to the middle of the headlining where it meets the aerial roof connection mounting.

You can also try retuning the system in case it was locally tuned before in another area. Make sure the RDS and EON option are enabled too and check with the LO option is enabled as that prioritises local stations first IIRC.

Handbooks are here:

Follow the link, then first select English from the top right corner, then select the model C2, then select on of the option and date of build. Unfortunately some are and some are not available to download, but they can be viewed on the website if not.
