Citroen C8 boot knocking noise

Hello
My C8 has gained an irritating noise from the boot, I can see the tailgate rubber seal is collapsed in some areas (it was already before the noise started but it might be worse now, not sure).
Could the collapsed tailgate seal be the reason for the noise?
Does any of you have any experience of possible reasons for this?

I suppose it could cause this. You may be able to adjust the striker to make the bootlid hold in tighter to se if the noise goes away.
