C4 Grand Picasso 2014 - Clutch Replacement - Advice Needed

Unread post by bgdaviduk »

2014 C4 Grand Picasso diesel - BlueHDI 115 with egs gearbox - 71,000 miles.

It needs a new clutch and DMF. Some mechanics have told me Genuine Citroen parts are required for the job and aftermarket parts will give issues, others say aftermarket parts from good brands will do just fine.
The price difference is massive so I would like to know what people here have tried and recommend or not. Are aftermarket parts from companies line LUK, Valeo, Sachs, ok to use? Or should I go with Genuine?

Appreciate any help.

Welcome!

Citroen supplied clutch will be Valeo or LUK anyway, so I know what I'd be doing.... You need to replace the release bearing / slave cylinder as well, which is internal to the bell housing - not sure on the make, but it will be third party to Citroen, you don't want to scrimp here, and make sure you get a genuine Valeo / LUK or whatever part; you don't want it to disagree with the EGS system and have to take it out again!

In similar dilemma, imported LUK parts I.e clutch plate, pressure plate and release/ throw bearing, but upon replacement programming was failing while using lexia3 (pressuring), later noticed leakage and removed the thrust bearing, only to realized the thrust bearing seal had ruptured, have ordered another one but what may have caused the failure?
