C3 Adblue

Unread post by Ceenine »

My friend is considering the purchase of said vehicle with 1.2 Puretech engine with the build date of June 2017. Can anyone tell me the month that PSA sorted the Adblue tank debacle, I don’t want to recommend a train wreck to this elderly person who has limited ability to negotiate a warranty claim on a dud component.

Adblue/SCR is only used on Diesel engines.

Also the Adblue tank issue isnt 'sorted', the very latest PSA vehicles are still suffering from various ablue system issues including tanks.

Puretech is not exactly without problems either... I would certainly get someone who knows what they are looking at to examine the cambelt before purchase.

The timing belt needs to be changed every 5 years.
The 82hp normally aspirated engine fares better with belt issues. Probably due to indirect injection, which leads to less petrol in the oil

It actually every 6 years or 62k miles (100k KMs) for the first change and thereafter at 124k miles (200k KMs) or 12 years for this engine (1.2 VTi, EB2F 60KW / 82HP), but the belt should be checked at every service for signs of deterioration.

Here in Sweden it is 5 years or 175000km (108700 miles) every change and on all models, including diesel.
Atleast when i PDI:ed them new.
Could have to do with Sweden possibly being considred "severe conditions".
If i had a EB2 engined car i'd change my timingbelt often.
On the non turbo 82hp versions it is quite easy if you have the timing tools.
Turbo ones are more of a faff

The intervals I gave are correct for this specific engine model. We go my the VIN and what the manufacturer states for the exact vehicle and engine.

Each engine may have a different servicing schedule and won't be any different for Sweden. The only difference is the type of driving conditions - normal or arduous and there is little difference between the two in this case, trust me - this is what Citroen officially state. The 1.2 EB* engines have different servicing schedules, so maybe you're looking at a different engine model.

It is what it said in the service schedule documents we gave to the customers upon delivery.
And if i enter in service box a 5 year service on a C3 2017 it comes up with timing belt and drive belt change.
So there must be a market difference.
I worked at a Citroën dealer 2014-17.

But if i enter a Corsa F/Grandland etc. They have the schedule you mention. (I now work at a Opel/Kia/Suzuki dealer)

Yes because this is specifically for the EB2F engine fitted to the C3 Aircross. The standard servicing books they issues to customers were very generic for the older engines, but not these EB* and later engines that have specific requirements (belt in oil) and they were not aware of the extent of the problems with the EB- engines concerning the oil blockages due to timing belt break up (debris / shredding) due to poor belt design materials and / or incorrect oil specification.
