Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

My gearbox has thrown its hand in so I probably need to find a second hand one.

I do not have it out and in bits yet so maybe a repair will sort it but I doubt it.

The gearbox is numbered 20CQ88 and the question is whether or not this defines the gearbox completely or may that number represent gearboxes with different ratios.

Good evening all,
I hit a really bad pothole about 4 weeks ago at night and the car has been off the road since due to a buckled alloy.
Back in early January I bought a fair amount of parts that have been fitted over the last week. This includes front arms, lower pivots and lower pivot support bushes.

I have a 2009 Citroen dispatch 1.6L, (Peugeot 1.6 HDi engine I believe) bought about 6 months ago and I have reason to suspect mechanically neglected by previous owner for the last few years. It has about 135000 miles on the clock.

Hi All,

Over the past few weeks I've been chasing a clunking noise from the lower front.

Just changed the front lower axle bushes which has reduced the noise but still there.

Today I heard the clunk again whilst braking and traced this to the rear axle bush on the wishbone offside(right).

Thought I would have a look at old support, it would appear the lower axle bush was moving partially in and out of it's mounting. This was confirmed by taking 2Ib Percywhat'sit and giving the bush a bash with a 27mm socket out...

The 12v sockets on my C5 Tourer are disconnected when the ignition is off.
Is there a jumper or something that allows me to have them permanently connected, like in some Mercedes models?

I’d like to be able to connect a solar battery charger to the car when we leave it for long periods.

Hi. There is a clear plastic film on the front third or so of the hood/bonnet, beginning from just above the headlights, presumably there as protection. Unfortunately pollen grains seem to have washed in under the film and there are now unsightly mould spots across the entire area between the film and the paint underneath. I need to change the rear pads on my C5 tourer (2010 model, with the electric handbrake). Is it the same as the old C5 - i.e. mostly common sense, or is there some new procedure for dealing with the electric handrake? I don't want to render the car undriveable, as I need it to get to work - I'm too old and fat to go on my trusty Halfords Commodore...

Im getting the Abs/ESR fault along with hill start, parking brake etc

Lexia scan gives me these fault codes C1391 00 & C0037 11.

Im guessing its part C? The pin (31) works loose over time & if you ignore the sloppy gear change it can cause the pin hole to go oval.

Hi, I tried searching the Internet and on here, I recently replaced my rear discs and pads and also one caliper. After doing this my handbrake was not holding the car and after much searching the only thing I could find was a small paragraph saying push the pin with the spring and the yellow end to re set the handbrake cable

The rear nearside was a struggle to get on, I had to put the suspension in high to stiffen the strut mount, just to turn the sphere the remaining few millimeters and to get it to seal. As Chris says, check for bubbles in the reservoir.

I believe that one cause of air getting into your rear brake lines could be a rear sphere which has developed a slow leak. This would also give you bubbles in the reservoir. Not sure how long it could go on bubbling - my experience has been more with the ones that go 'BANG' - but you might find...

I bought some bushes off e-bay they seemed OK on fitting and passed MoT on offside, within a couple of weeks I fitted nearside as tester had said it was on the way out, but only 1,500 miles later they are both shot ....

I have changed these myself before and got 3 years out of similar ones off ebay.

Seller has said he will refund on...

Sorry if this has been asked before (many times ?) but I’ve not found an answer in my searches.

A friend has a 59 plate Grand C4 Picasso 1.6HDi with EGS gearbox. It has covered 113,000 miles.

Driven ‘manually’ with the paddles there is no problem with the gear change however in Auto mode it will not change up from Fourth gear.

Any suggestions...

Vehicle : '65 Citroen C4 Cactus 1.6 BlueHDI

Issue :
Initially, Engine fault would come on screen, and radiator fan would run at high speed only. No rpm restrictions, and I (foolishly) put this in the must fix this later pile, as it had no real impact on using the car. This would occur with or without A/C being turned on.

Hello !! Can someone please help me ?? I have 2010 C5 X7 1.6 diesel. I failed MOT because seatbelt was frayed. I bought second hand belt from breakers yard and they also fitted it for me. Now when I turn ignition on, there is airbag/seatbelt pretensioner warning light for a few seconds. It then goes out, but service warning light stays on....

Is a TCM oil counter reset essential as we have had 4 x drain/fills with JWS3324 on our 2014 508 over the past 12 months but we don't have Planet/Lexia?

I contacted the local PSA specialist who has this software but he didn't know what I was talking about and doesn't reset anything when he changes transmission fluid, so I am at a loss.

I agree the oil counter reset is definitely worth doing but I would also totally recommend disconnecting the battery for 24 hrs or so after you have done so.

The transmission in the 508 seems to be getting smoother by the day, with changes now all but imperceptible and they were pretty smooth prior to changing the fluid.

Hi, newby visit,I retired to Spain 5 years ago,just picked up a 2001 2:0 hdi C5, just noticed as it's dark that the display showing time/date is illuminated even with the central locking on.. I've no handbook to check if it's a settings issue, Greatly appreciate any advice... Ian.

There will be 2 plugs going into the radio, disconnect both of them & switch the ignition off & lock the car, wait 3 minutes & unlock the car & check if the fault has corrected itself. If it has you need to get the stereo fitted properly. If the fault is still there carry out a BSI reset.

The ZX is a great vehicle, and really well screwed together. A Volcane should turn out to be a lot of fun!

Sounds as if there is a central power source issue there, for so many functions to be lost, probably involving fusing.

I looking to buy a 2007 Citroen C1 with 99000 miles on the clock. I am assuming its already had 1 timing belt change in its life. I was wondering what are the recommended intervals for a timing belt change and is this gonna involve a water pump change

If its a petrol model this has a timing chain. They are generally quite reliable chains & very rarely require replacement.
If its a diesel model its 160,000 miles or 10 years whichever comes first, the water pump is driven by the timing belt on this engine.

These systems are not designed to be swapped without checking compatibility and simply VIN coded alone. Each system can display data in a different way as they are cross-range systems and what is designed for Peugeot won't automatically work straight away in a Citroen for an example.

After siren like noise since last 2 years, finally the turbo seems to be leaking engine oil since the exhaust has white smoke.

I was looking to buy a CHRA from ebay and give to a garage for replacement.

Any advises or precautions?

Is it necessary to change the oil feed pipe to turbo, or it can be cleaned ?

I did some turbo dissasembling in the 90's on R5 GTt.... so it was an easy job for me to replace CHR. If you are not used to such a work youtube can be helpful or just take it to the garage.

I have the following problem:
During our recent longer trip I found out that by heavy acceleration there is juddering which you can realy feel. It happens between 60kph and 110kph, then it dissapears. When I lift my foot off the pedal, it dissapears. So when the car is coasting, or you just keep the speed, you cannot really feel it.

Unfortunately not from Citroen, because as there are no seals shown, there is no part number to search the aftermarket on.

It looks like you'll need to replace the pump or identify the seal type and size and try to obtain one from a seal supplier. Here's a supplier of all sorts of seals which some of us have used for our steering rack seals:

I prefer Kilen/Lesjöfors springs, but most premium brands schould suffice.
I always recommend renewing the strut bearing too (no 4 in the first picture), they can be a cause for spring failure.

I know you said you had the seals changed. Have you since checked to see if they are still tight? I have seen them loosen after a few starts as the engine gets hot, then cold again.
With old cars you had to tighten a new cylinder head gasket after a long run.

Don't disconnect the main battery. If the engine were to start with it disconnected, you could seriously damage the alternator.

150A is a bit mean for a good start on a diesel.
If a start with traditional jump leads and another battery/vehicle works ok, then perhaps the emergency starter (or its cables) are not up to the job.

Hi, I have a 2009 relay minibus with the 2.2 Ford Puma engine.
I want to remove the 60mph restriction as I'm converting it to a camper.
Apparently on this one, it is set in the BSI not the ecu, and I can't find anyone able to remove it because of that.!
Can anyone help with who or how I can get it done as I'm really stuck with it!! Any advise...

This can't be removed by Diagbox or Lexia, even by the dealer.
It is managed by the injection ECU not the BSI.
Diagbox/Lexia (if the ECU has speed limiter functionality) can set the speed limit function but can't remove it once set. The built in speed limiter function has 2 possible settings 100 kph or 90 kph (for the models over 3.5t).

I dont have much info, we bought it cheap because of this fault.

I didnt find where I could do a basic setting of the neutral - if thats what needed?

After putting in a new battery I could program the gearbox.
Automatic gears now work!
So we wont be scrapping it - not yet at least =)
The DPF is 100% full and the fault code for DPF beeing full with adblue is permanent. So that needs addressing.
Citroen calls this gearbox CFC300P, by the way.

Definitely worth trying a gear & clutch position...

Hopefully someone will have done a heater matrix job on a Xantia X1 before and know the answer to this question!

A couple of these fell out from somewhere when I removed the steering column nuts.

I suspect they are from the top two as the bracket is thicker there. They also had some remnants of a black washer? on there which had largely...
