Hi guys.
Had an aircon-specialist diagnose that the reason my A/C system can't hold pressure is a leaking A/C evaporator.
It seems like this is a dash out job since the evaporator is placed underneath the glove box, ie. passenger side in my left hand drive car.
Can someone provide a part number for the A/C evaporator and possibly a diagram/picture of where it is located?
Thanks,
Martin

You'll need to post up the VIN. There's a good chance it only comes as part of the heater box and is ££££

Re: C4 Cactus 1.6 BlueHDI 2014 leaking A/C evaporator
Only appears to be one part for all C4 cactus - as I suspect it's a complete heater unit - and costs £1000 GBP - part no 1611705380. It doesn't come up in a search on any other Citroen / Pug / DS cars so it looks specific. Evaporator failure is rare, so one from a breaker would probably be OK - if you can find one!

Thanks, Richard. The VIN is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
Would be really nice to have it confirmed that it really is a complete heater unit. Fingers crossed it's not!

Complete unit...
That's not to say that if you took it out you couldn't get the evap out and find one that would fit.
Used one on Ebay in the uk here

Martin - in future please put any part number requests in the official thread as your request may not be picked up by me in a normal thread as I don't always read every post by every member.martin_b wrote: 22 Jun 2023, 13:28 Thanks, Richard. Thanks, Richard.
Are there any instructions for disassembly of the dash on Servicebox? Found a thread http://c4owners.org/plugins/forum/forum ... php?225072 on another forum where a guy opened up the heater matrix and just replaced the evaporator and fixed the issue.

Re: C4 Cactus 1.6 BlueHDI 2014 leaking A/C evaporator
Hi,
I "believe" I need a new evaporator, although I'm yet to get a clear answer from my mechanic, just a few videos and "big job". I've attached the videos the has sent me. Mainly I'm concerned that I need to get this sorted in next two weeks so considering fixing myself before getting refilled.
Would welcome advice or thoughts in the spirit of "need to drive car in hot weather with family".
Best,
Robin

Re: C4 Cactus 1.6 BlueHDI 2014 leaking A/C evaporator
Yeah, looks like a new evaporator. That sucks. I haven't fixed mine yet. I bought some wind deflectors so I can drive with windows a little open on the highway. Doesn't help much
I actually went to Citroën in the beginning of the summer and was pretty much going to let them fix it. That was until I realised that they actually never did this job before, and that it would take them 12 hours and that their hourly rate was 4 (four!!!) times that of my local mechanic. Plus the cost of the heater matrix itself. Think I'm just going to drive the car for another two years (until next MOT) and then scrap it.

Re: C4 Cactus 1.6 BlueHDI 2014 leaking A/C evaporator
Thanks. Sigh.
If anyone is a part number wizard I would welcome help - trying to find the whole heater box (?matrix) - rather than just replace the evaporator (as that job sounds more complicated).
I think I’ve narrowed it down to two part numbers - 1611705380 or 9688826380.
I could also have the wrong part entirely so if anyone’s figured this out before please do post. Many thanks, Robin

Re: C4 Cactus 1.6 BlueHDI 2014 leaking A/C evaporator
The part number is in this thread a couple of posts up. It is 1611705380 and here is a link to a seller: https://carfrance24.com/en_GB/p/AC-Evap ... actus/7553
In this thread there'a also a link to a discussion on another forum where a guy removed dash and replaced evaporator.

Re: C4 Cactus 1.6 BlueHDI 2014 leaking A/C evaporator
Thanks for part number confirmation - appreciated. Is this the whole box or just the A/C evaporator part of it? Looking on the other thread it seems to suggest that you have to cut out the evaporator from the box to replace. Will see if I can get anything second hand in UK as well.

Re: C4 Cactus 1.6 BlueHDI 2014 leaking A/C evaporator
Part number is for the entire box.
The other thread is about a guy who cut open the evap box and replaced the evaporator itself. That would require skill and expert knowledge if you were to do that.
