Xantia sunroof

Unread post by Stickyfinger »

Are S1 & S2 Sunroof "frames" the same ?

This weeks Citroen fun = LOUD "Clack"....sunroof stuck on the Activa

on the plus side, mostly closed and I have a spare cassette (complete from an S2 car) hanging on my wall, on the neg, lots of wind noise

I have just looked up the sunroof setup on my copy of DocBackup, and the page for both the S1 and S2 Xantia have the same reference number (0290 07 7467 10), so that would suggest the answer is yes. I hope that this is the case, but I would wait until somebody with access to the Stellantis database can give you a more definitive answer.

Yep....citroen part number : 8401 88 (whole frame) so I have my fingers crossed that is the same for S1 & s2 cars with maybe just a motor swap.

I guess it will take as much time to swap the whole unit out than try and fix it as it (unless I find something simple when I remove the glass) will have to come out anyway to do any work on it.

Based purely on the fact that the pages for both the S1 and the S2 had the same reference number I would consider it likely that all of the parts are the same, including the motor. I made certain to double check that I was looking at the right variants (so S1 and S1) and not accidentally opening the S1 page twice.

Finally got round to removing the glass to get a better look.........this is what I found.

The flip-up wind deflector is held on with a strong spring/hinge part this is secured with two rivets....these had both failed.

I suspect the rear one "failed" allowing the hinge part to lift and on closing it pushed the spring/hinge and sheered the second one (was that the "crack" on closing ?....my bet it was )

Time to hunt for some small rivets, drill out what remains and see if I can re-attach the spring/hinge.

With it pulled out of the way and the glass removed the mechanism all works correctly without hindrance so I am assuming that the "blockage" is not at the back/inside.....so I hope I will not have to remove the whole cassette to fix it.
