Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Can anyone tell me if the wiring on my Maf sensor looks OK, it lookks like the green wire on terminal 4 (3rd in from the left has been cut).

The sensor in the second pic is the boost pressure sensor. the little pipe is very easily broken if you are not careful when changing the air filter. If there was anything wrong with it though lexia would definitely show a fault relating to it.

Hi,

I've this week acquired an XM, not planned but couldn't resist. So Lexi's old Xantia Estate is now with a new home again. Served me well.......

Anyway, the one issue with the XM is that the rear spheres need doing pretty badly. I've bought them and plan to do them tomorrow. Any tips to make it as easy as possible? Could've sworn there was a...

Took the last of our four cars for its MOT this morning. Second daughter's Xsara. That's all four done - with passes first time. The only mild disappointment was the smoke result - 2.47 after four revs ................ She will use that b***** Tesco diesel :lol:

What's the easiest way to replace the anti roll bar bushes on a berlingo?

I have a knocking sound from the passenger side of the car, thinking it was the droplink (A common problem) I replaced it but the knocking persists. D'Oh!

Next weekend I'll replace the driver side droplink (I bought a pair) but would a work droplink cause a knocking on the...

Hi

I have a Citroen Xsara 2.0 HDI 2001 which I have had for 18 months and taken it from 70k to 100k miles.

I have recently had the nearside hub replaced as the wheel bearings are knackered.

So replaced the hub, and everything ran well for a week or so. Then the horrid 'drop' noise of the clutch - and now it is making a horrible mechanical...

Hi All

Today driving to work on motorway about 65mph,noticed engine warning light had come on,car drives the same as normal.

What is the likely cause of this,and can you reset anything to clear the light so i can see if it comes on again?

If you can what is the procedure please?

Help me if you can (xsara 1.4lx y reg).

Desertfox, you can try and leave the battery disconnected for about half an hour. If it is an intermitent fault, it may switch the light off, otherwise your only route is Lexia. Only do this if you know your radio code, otherwise it may be a visit to a main dealer to get the code and they sometimes charge for this. :eek1:

We have been looking at C3s to replace our little Seat, so today ive been out having a look at some and what is available etc.

Cant quite decide if it should be a 1.4 petrol or 1.4HDi, so i was wondering if any C3 owners have oppinions on their petrol/diesel C3. I know there are a few people on here with them.

If the problem is not recurring, than after about forty-odd starts the light will go out immediately you turn the key.

Hi folks

My car is a Citroen ZX 1.9D 1993 with 217K on the clock.

My crankshaft sprocket (the one that drives the cambelt) has got some play in. I measured the movement (with a digital caliper) at the outside edge of the sprocket and it's 0.8mm. Checking with a ruler confirms it looks less than 1mm. The play is present when the crankshaft pulley...

One thing I should add... when it comes to wheel bearings I've found that you get what you pay for. Genuine top quality makes like SKF are worth paying extra for. Other cheaper, lesser brands are usually not as good.

Was wondering if anyone knew if there was a manual calibration method for the Tachometer (Rev Counter) on the Citroen Relay Van, as a few days ago the +12v on my van battery became loose, and as I was trying to start the van, the clocks went haywire, leaving the rev counter at 6000 RPM, and showing inpection spanner.

blower works on step 1 and 2. step 3 works 3 to 4 sec. and then stop. step 4 stop.
in auto the blower stop at step 3. aircon works fine.

I have 3 Fault Codes that will not reset, has anyone any idea of what is the most likely causes of these codes, also were is the FTS and Glow Relay situated.

Hi all,i,ve got the old problem of a mark one c5 with comms problem - lights switching on when indicating etc.
Does any one know if i can swap a later version ie from a post facelift - after 2004 model wiper stalk (comms).
The wires are different colours but it looks the same.

I accidentally took a test drive in a C5 2.2 auto Exclusive to rule it out, but fell in love.
I wont be buying that one as it is too much, has 4 owners on a 02 plate. and has the engine service and pollution warning on,
My head says buy a Volvo but my heart still says buy a C5.
I am scared stiff of getting numerous undiagnosable pollution and...

Hi folks,

Is anyone breaking a car like my Temptation II with A/C (just pre facelift)? I need another bottom hose as my radiator has sprung on me after 13 years (yes, the original has finally gone, not bad lifetime eh?), and I had to cut the hose to get the old Rad out as it is truly corroded together.

In a word ride height, differences between what the computer has been told it is and what it really is. If more than a little too low it will hit the bump stops in soft mode for fast excursion bumps i.e pot holes etc.

The thread has been stripped on one of the mounting holes for my lower cambelt cover on my ZX 1.9D. I've got some CarGo QuikSteel which is a two part (epoxy?) repair putty. The instructions say something like fill the hole, leave to dry, drill a new hole, tap the hole . Unfortunately, I haven't got any taps. I was hoping to just coat the bolt...

hi i have an 02 plate Citroen c3 which sometimes revs to 3000rpm but sometimes struggles to rev at all
upto now i have replaced the electronic accelerator pedal, the throttle housing, had the wiring checked and also sourced an ecu unit with the same s2pm number and got the codes changed over but still have the same problem.
at the end of my tether...

I have 1 other problem with my new car. That is the cd multichanger system.

Does anyone know how long is the maximum amount of time you should give these systems to reset?

The previous owner put new battery on mine in Jan and the stereo system hasn't worked since.

Have fixed the problem now. You have to leave key in ignition position 1 and then push bnd, then leave like that for over an hour, then it will say code in, u can then unlock system with code.

Hello everyone. bf has asked me to pose a question. Car is a 1994 Citroen Xantia 1.9TD. The wire on my electric window winder mechanism (driver's door) has broken so I need a new mechanism. Can anyone tell me if it is the same as the one in the rear door or whether any other Citroen or Peugeot models have the same mechanism. I'm sure you will...

1994 Standard Xantia winder... not the same as the rear, its a different size..

Ive a good few here... The one touch is in a seperate box in the door...

Plastic Interior Door Handle Surrounding including the window switch (RH + LH)

I have seen an Xantia for sale , on ebay . it s 10 miles away !
The green Xantia s engine management light has come - on , lots of black smoke and won t run propely .
Is it worth a look , and any ideas , what s wrong !

also could be a fuel supply problem to all injectors.. for example on my TD, I can get the EM light when the £3 fuel filter needs changing.. due to running on fuels other than DERV

hi guys i would like to know if it possable to change just the light stalk on the comms 2000 on the steering wheel as i have the normal problem of lights on when using indicators ive been to a scrapy and seen plenty of c5, with the light stalk removed but cant see how its done any one have any ideas oh and my cars a 51 c5 2.2 hdi :D

It IS possible to dismantle the sealed unit further - I did it when I was messing around trying to get the display button on the end of the wiper stalk working properly. But I was on tenterhooks all the time it was apart and I really wouldn't recommend it.

hi , my starter motor on my zx , has packed - up ! I need to move it from my parents house to my home . Is there an easy way of starting it ?

Drove down to Burgundy a few days ago. Through France the temperature was 30 to 37 degrees. The car ran perfectly for hours on the Autoroute at 135 kph on the cruise control, with just a 10 minute break every couple of hours. Water temperature around 100 and oil temperature pushing 120 at times (a full load of luggage and 100kg of oak boards on...

Citroen Xsara 1.4 2000MY mark 1, 115k miles on the clock

Im having a strange problem where by when at idle every 10 seconds or so i can feel a small vibration coming through the steering wheel and the car- although no passengers have mentioned anything, also the exhaust sounds like it is missing every few seconds, also the engine is moving ever...

Just been having a look at the rock hard ride on Mike from Stoke's '97 non-hydractive 1.9TD.

The ride was really hard - like riding with the suspension in high, but the rear spheres felt OK, and the previous owner replaced them a couple of years ago. Changed the fronts, there is some improvement, but not perfect.

Mike doesn't really want to buy...

I suppose that they didn't supply hydractive spheres in error? I can't really see that it could be anything other than the spheres, assuming that the ride height is correct. How many miles has it done in those couple of years?

I have recently noticed that my headlights are on more than they should.
Even in bright sunshine, i have noticed that they are on for long periods of time. The sensor seems clean.

Any ideas??

Mine were on amost continually until I noticed a few weeks ago that the sensor was displaced.
Removed and refitted it thinking it might be the rain sensor and the auto window-close might work now but it was the light sensor and the lights don't come on much at all now before the street lights come on, EXCEPT when going round certain roundabouts...

Hi,

I have a Citroen Xantia 2.0l SX (1998) just got it had about a week now. Am pleased with everything, good engine, nice drive, all round good car. My problems are two things. 1.The rev counter doesnt seem to be reading and is stuck at over 6000 revs. I have tried to get specs on the web but no luck. Have spoken to the garage that has serviced...

Your good. Thanks for the quick response. Have just been and tried with the car. I managed to get the button out and fed in a bit of wire and nudged the rev needle until it went back to the right position. Reving in time with engine. Nice fix.
I reseated the connectors under seat and yes this did stop the warning light on dashboard. Only...

At my recent MOT the garage said the rear bump stops on my 1999 Xantia 1.8 16v Estate were badly warn.Apparently this is not an an MOT failure or even an advisory!
What kind of a job is it to replace them and at what cost?

Any help would be gratefully received

Hi guys,

I celebrate getting my 1st Citroen :) estate 2.0 HDi LX estate.

So, the reason for celebration is that blower fan either doesn't blow at all (positions 1-3) or blows full power (position 4).

Haynes manual is apparently not available yet for a C5, so asking the experienced guys: what do I do?

Hi All.

Just had a look at 'Old Guy's' sphere table and couldn't see a reference for a non-hydractive 1997/98 2.1TD SX. I want to change the four corner spheres, can anyone help me out with the GSF numbers? I want to check they are giving me the correct spheres (no offence GSF). Do they do comfort spheres for the 2.1???

Just wondering where is a good source of parts for a DS. Usual problems with rusted boot. I'm based in New Zealand but would like to know where in the world a good supplier of all parts is.

Just bought a new Particulate filter from fleabay ( since my Eolys seems to be flowing thought nicely now, my lexia purchase has paid for itself!)
Fitting it should be a 30 minute job, but ended up taking 3 hours.

If you do buy a cheap filter, check the alignment of the Gas pressure sensor on the downstream side of the pipe. If its not square to...

The Rev counter on my 1999 Xantia 1.8 16v Estate has gone up to maximum and stayed there.Never moves even when the engine is switched off. Could this be a sender failure,or a bad earth? Or what?

I added one to my Mk 1, you will need to use a LEXIA to tell the car its there before it will work though, plenty of people here with them that would be willing to help or you would have to go to the main dealer :shock:

Hi just been poking underneath when checking pads.The rubber bush on end of wishbone where rack and crossmember are is looking abit fraggled? abit of movement.

Can you change that bush or is it a new wishbone?
Has used to be able to get from proflex etc in ureathane to replace when i had fords.well building my sierra.

Did cross my mind to fill...

Hi all just been having a look for some new bushes! Rang GSF they gave me two prices? one they say is their make(chinese) Vtech.£13.60+ and £20.50+ for they say OE quality?
Have shop near me that do have FAI ones for £18.70 each.

plus found some on flea bay but dont know what makes they are?

Which ones are worth going for if anyone knows?

My son has the above, & he has been told to fit 2 new hoses to the front calipers, and also replace the brake fluid. Am I right in thinking that the brakes and the hyds are a dual system and to change 1 you change it all?

Just wondering if they had asbestos in the brakes at any point before I start to work on one (other half wants me to find out before I do anything). Don't know exactly when non-asbestos became compulsory or citroen started using them.

Why not wear an asbestos-rated facemask when doing the work? That's what I've done before now. A simple white mask with built-in valve isn't uncomfortable and valve stops it cooking your face.

Better than the alternative if asbestos is about.
