Airbag warning light S2 Xantia

Post by rhv100 »

Hello All,

Not been on here for some time now due to issues within the family which are now resolved,so I can be more active now hopefully.
I post today, however, due to the need for a solution to the problem as in the title,of which I"ll give some history.
About 18 months ago I inherited my sons Xantia. He had had a low speed shunt which needed a new headlight and a new bonnet.Curiously,
the passenger seat belt pre-tensioner fired off (??) but nothing else. All items were replaced by us and the car was back to normal except
that light.....it was OK before the shunt, now it keeps flashing. And its an MOT failure
I"ve looked at the search facility but can"t find anything matching my description. Is there another sensor that I missed originally.Or does
it need a lexia to reset an ECU
Any help greatfully received since I cant Tax it until this is resolved

Richard.

Afaik airbag is not MOT failure yet. As for repair I think you will need to replace the Ecu with one that hasn't gone off.

Hi Lighty,

Thanks for quick reply.
Do you mean the main airbag ECU,or is there a slave ECU for the seat belt pre-tensioners?

Many Thanks,
Richard.

Its the same ECU for both the airbag & pre-tesioners.
Once a pyrotechnic device has fires the ECU is locked to hold crash data, it either needs to be replaced with an uncrashed one or there are people now that can unlock & reset them.

Hi Wheeler,

Not au fait with electronics I"m afraid.
Going in to a Citroen indie on Thurs. He has an X reg being dismantled so lf it hasnt been crashed
that ECU may be OK. Will post up the outcome on Fri.

Regards
Richard
