Panic! xantia immobiliser not allowing code ...

Post by Citroenmad »

I'm just at an exhaust place in Darlington where they have repeatedly put in the wrong code in. Now the red light is flashing and its beeping but won't allow the correct code. Just had to push it in to get the exhaust done.

I'm hoping it will resetin a few minutes and allow the right code, though Ive not seen them flashing and beeping before :?

I have the Lexia in the boot, luckily, not sure if its any use with the imob. though.

Try disconnecting the battery and waiting an hour - or borrow an ECU with known code from a similar motored Xantia.

Also try getting hold of xmexclusive or Andy (spider) or Wheeler or Birdman - he lists his text number on his website.

This sounds serious :(

It's on the lift at the moment. I'll give it a try when it comes down and see what its doing then.

So I take it beeping and flashing of the imob. Lights is not a good thing!

I thought it might just have licked out due to the wrong code being used. However he did say he only put it in twice ...

As a shortcut you might get away with unplugging and replugging the ignition amplifier - when this fails it creates symptoms similar to an immobiliser lockout.

Immo lock out time on later systems is 1 hr.
That elapsed time delay is remembered and stops ticking down for the time a battery is disconnected.
So disconnect to check incase it clears but leaving it disconnected could just extend the lock out time.
Push it into a corner out the way, drink their coffee and be a bit patient.

Thanks John :)

It's been in for about an hour as they are making bits of exhaust for it. It's almost done so ill see if it starts. If not I will be worried

Its fine now, it had just locked out due to the exhaust fitter putting in the wrong code too many times. It did have me worried with it beeping and flashing as I dont remember them doing this when locked out.

Ive started it many times since and its still fine :-D

Well I'm glad I don't have a keypad immobilizer

Do any current model cars still use them, or were they a fad which has now passed ?

They disappeared when the key got an immobiliser chip inside it, so no need for the codepad.

Its a good idea really, as most cars which get stolen now are taken with their keys, as they can not be started without the key. So even if someone has the Xantia key, they can't drive it away. Mind, I don't suspect there is much call to take a Xantia
