hi there hoping someone can point me in right direction with my 03 xsara.
have the car for last 3 months with no issues with starting, yesterday morning started the car and drove bout 1hour to forest car park, got out of car took bike out of boot. then sat into car again and tried to start car would not start?? the engine was turning over but not firing.
i removed coil pack and a plug and was getting no spark, then removed the inlet to injection rail unit and was getting no fuel. im thinking that this points towards an immobliser issue
so far i have checked 1. all fuses intact. 2. no fuel and no spark 3. central locking is working fine. 4. good battery ( new battery fitted when i bought it 3 months ago)
I would appreciate any input. Thanks in advance.

Re: xsara not starting???
I would have made these checks and may be worth trying in your case too.
- Immobilizer, Starter, Battery (already checked by you)
- Electrical connections, earth connections
- battery terminal plus and minus cable connections tightness
I guess the problem is on the FUEL part
(fuel amount and pressure must be enough to start the engine)
- fuel in tank
- fuel pump/fuse
- fuel pressure regulator
- fuel filter condition (any leaks on the ground? fuel smell?)
- engine K-light?

Re: xsara not starting???
Neither spark or fuel -
Then my guess is the double relay (known as the injector relay on earlier cars).
This relay powers both the coil pack & fuel pump and somee other vital things (ECU, Lambda preheater etc.)

The (factory fit) imobiliser does not inhibit the fuel pump so i would rule an imobiliser issue out, you would generally get a warning on the dash to say the key is not recognised.
If you are getting no spark & no fuel pump operation I'd be directing my attention 1st to the double relay which controls the power going to the coil & the fuel pump. Unfortunitely on a 2003 model Xsara this is an integral part of the under bonnet fusebox. Are you getting a live feed to the coil when you crank the engine ?
