Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I was out driving today for work, this morning i saw 1 Xm in poole which i thought was unusal but then this afternoon i was in southampton and i saw another XM but the unusual bit was it was a T reg, i did nt think they made them that late ?????

I can not decide if my xantia has a leaky heater matrix, i think i found some anti freeze water at the bottom of the heater area but not sure,i think the water felt sticky!

Last year we ended up getting both FWB replaced on our Picasso. Both were subsequently replaced under warranty when they went again - the first after less than 3k miles. Does anyone know if my Xantia would have a pollen filter?

I know these are supposed to be located in the driver's footwell but I cannot find one. Is it forced to have one with having air con?

And if so, is it under a cowl?

Poor old accumulator is knackered - reg ticks at less than four second intervals and the sphere makes a sloshing noise when shaken.

It's a Lip sphere; at $120 in early 2007 compared to the $170 for a genuine Citroën one, it seemed the right choice. Regassed it twice but now it's ruptured so the time has come for genuine at a current rate of $179...

The pressure regulators did very rarely go wrong. Untill that is when Citroen improved them back in the days of the BX.

What happens is that especialy if run with a flat accumulator sphere,(contstant tick tick tick) the spool valve housing inside the unit will move very slightly backwards. Now due to the tight tolerences of the spool valve this...

I think I'm just after confirmation of my diagnosis, but my C5 is acting up.

Last week a couple of times it failed to start, as I think after unlocking
it did not switch off the immobiliser.

My boyfriend just replaced the heater blower on my Xantia S reg diesel with a second hand one. The new blower works fine, but I only get a trickle of air through the vents, even on full. He has taken it off again and made sure the flaps are open. What's going on? It's freezing cold now and I can't demist the windscreen or warm my tootsies :(

even though the fan spinz the wrong direction you can still use the speed control module which is mounted in the motor cover/lid, just fit that to with the original motor, as 9 times out of 10 the motor itself is fine,

the other thing to check with low blow is the pollen fillter, if its clogged it with reduce the blow as...

I Hope Ive not missed anything, Ive searched the forums for answers I have been unable to find an answer, so here goes!

There is a thread running on this subject on C5 group. It has been said that the freezing point of neat solution is actually higher than that of the solution mixed with water.

Not for alcohol water mixes....

Also- washer fluid. For a mixture of any two liquids there is a eutectic mixture, where the freezing point is as low as it can get....

Is it possible to obtain a Keyfob for a Citroen C5 (year 01) only need the case or the rubber strip with the buttons, as one of the buttons on my existing keyfob has fallen off. Dealers here make a big ceremony about supplying & re-programming a new one.

This was exactly my problem a few years ago.

If you can get a three button fob then all you have to do is open it up as if you were going to replace the battery and swap the rubbery strip with the buttons.

In my case I could only get a four button fob from the scrappies at the time and had to swap over the key blade/transponder and remote plip...

My Xantia 1.8 16v starts great in the cold weather but my steering is really heavy and jerky till the car really warms up. Is this normal? I guess it's because the LHM oil is cold. Also my nearside door mirror doesn't defrost at all while the offside clears in no time. Any ideas?

Im not that clued up with Citroen engines, so can someone please tell me what series or name is the 1.8 16v petrol in the Xantias?

Once I get rid of a car or two, I may be after an Xantia of some sort as a run around for the winter months, whilst waiting for the right Activa model to come along.

I have the !.9d non turbo in my 2003 Berlingo. Over the past few weeks the first start of the day has become progressively more difficult. It's not neccessarily associated with the cold weather. It takes a lot of cranking to get it going, and when it does it's very lumpy for the first 5-10 seconds, it sounds pretty rattley for a short while then...

Not going to go into any detail, but did this earlier.

Which meant I needed to change the wheel, comedy of errors as in a deep snow, getting dark, locking wheel nut would not fit (I'll remember to remove the cover next time), and car is half on, half off the kerb.

Hi, I have a Xantia 110 HDI year 2000 and I want to fit winter tyres my Insurance Company want to know the size of tyres I am gong to fit, the tyres on the car are 205-65-15 would it be ok to fit 195-65-15 as they seem to be easier to get. Thanks

Only have 1 key for one of my C5s and I don't like that. Especially when I am abroad a lot etc.

I note you have to have transponder in key for imobiliser and for this to be programmed.

a/ Don;t have key code so will have to pay Dealer (ggggrrrrr) for this £10 I have heard.

b/ Don't want to have to pay 130-160 for new key from these guys and...

Well, I'm back from sea after an eight week trip to find it's all gone dark and cold!!

The Xantia disgraced itself on the way to Plymouth and dumped all the coolant over the carpark. Luckily, I had got there so no harm done. One of the guys on base works at the car club and has kindly done the water pump and changed the timing belt where he was...

Got Nightbreakers in dip and main beam. Had no problems as the lights are adjusted correctly. Easy to see that the light pattern is not in anyone's eyes. Checked the voltage at the lamps and there is no voltage drop. Still having fun with the blower. May have to invest in a relay methinks.....

Hi all,

I have an 05 picasso 1.6 8v petrol with a misfire at tickover.

It is not a constant one and will tickover happily for a while then stumbles and pick back up again. It is made worse by loading the engine with lights and heaters.

when sitting at a junction if I turn the steering wheel only slightly it slows the engine down a touch and...

Yes, well Citroen did, they said it would not show up any fault codes so they were at a loss.

They ended up replacing fuel filter, air filter, plugs, cleaning out the throttle body and replacing the anti stall motor, the one that picks up the tickover if it goes to stall.

It mainly plays up when hot with the lights on and just putting a little...

The surrounds are held in place by the fog lamps themselves. If I remember correctly, you need to remove the fog lamps by pulling the surround forward then using a screwdriver to push in a clip on the side. Then for refitting you need to locate the suround onto a lug on the fog lamp and push the whole assembly in. I think that there is a 'lever...

Hi,I've noticed a hard rattle coming from the crank pulley area of my Xantia HDi when it's idling,it lessens as the revs rise up a bit.I'm concerned that the rubber bonding might be separating from the metal.
Looking on Ebay I saw there are now solid pulleys available for the HDi.Anyone know if they can be retro fitted? Would an XUD pulley fit?...

Difficult to say from the heavily branded photograph but it doesn't look as though it's NOT dual mass to me.

The one on the Xsara had covered about 160,000 miles so I don't see it as a weak part. I suspect the neew type is just cheaper to produce!

SHORT CCT on wiring to screenwash motor
hi i know the screenwash motor works fine when fed with external 12v supply
but my question is ,on the wiring what should the resistance be to earth?
both wires are short to earth ,ive traced them to behind rhs of bulkhead possibly go into bsi unit, bsi shows no signs of water ingress ,and no fuses blown...

As far as I know the 'signal' to the pump ie the actual 12v feed will come out of the BSI.

Afternoon All,

Hoping I might be able to pick someone's brains please.
I need to change the starter in my 2.0i 16V MkII.
Wondering if anyone might know - off the top off their head, what size and type the starter bolt heads are. Sorry to ask, but I don't normally see much daylight during the week at the moment, and need to try and have everything...

I am breaking a 1995 vsx and i dont have the code for the keypad anyone know a way round it ?
1111 does nt work.
i have looked at the keypad and have seen wear on 2 buttons otherwise cant see anymore :(

I found this problem, it works on some petrols but not others..

Ive done this on my 1997 P reg V6 24v Xantia, and it worked sucessfully, even after a battery disconnect for months!

Hi,
I'm getting a fault message saying that the parking sensors on the C5 are faulty. It seems to be the front ones. Is there a way to check out the sensors without a Lexia? Can they be tested with a multimeter?
Is the fault usually with a sensor not the control box?
Any ideas gratefully accepted

Dirt can confuse sensors too, they have possibly been dislodged too, so check they are still fitted correctly and are clean.

It might be the easiest option to get it on a Lexia.

I have a 1994 1.9td xantia and the ignition is stuck solid. I have tried moving the steering wheel left right and up and down but to no avail. I tried gently tapping the key but nothing works. I can get a replacement barrel but what concerns me is that i need to turn the key to remove the old barrel. Any help greatly appreciated.

Oh I know it comes out as a 'unit' with the pin. From memory all PSA are the same in that regard (if you saw a replacement its the whole 'lot' in one piece usually)

Thing is: it should not come out with the screw in place, and after the screw is out it needs turning to position 1/2 , that's the 'anti theft' part, hence everyone saying you need...

I am in desperate need of help and advice.

I have had from new a 2005 C8, now with 45000 miles.
Yesterday the car developed a knocking noise from front driver’s side of the engine (the dreaded cambelt area). On hearing this I went to the computer for advice and guidance.

What you could do to check whether the pulley is responsible for the noise is to remove the pulley and briefly run the engine, don't allow it to run for too long in case the timing belt slides off, I'd have thought that a few minutes would be OK, especially as you'll be observing the relevant area.

Evenin all,

Two niggles I've been getting in the cold weather, when it was - 5 - 8 degrees,but when the car was warmed up,after say half an hour!

I've always believed garage calculators are specially designed for the job. the equals key is the squared key for most but the cubed key for really tough jobs...

OK, the Club has acquired a SEEMS without any supporting documentation. I'm yet to lay eyes on the thing, but it's potentially handy as I've a timing belt due soonish.

Is there a procedure for setup or baselining? Even for checking the accuracy?

About 4 or 5 years ago we owned an Activa, it was a lovely car but foolishly we traded it in against a late registered Xm.

For a few years ive checked the DVLA to see if the Activa was still around, its tax had run out and its records did not get updated, I thought the worst must have happened to it, broken for bits and scrapped.

My rear wiper has recently packed up. After months of not deciding where it wants to stop or just running continuously its finally given up the ghost and doesn't work at all now.

After playing for three hours in the scrap yard on saturday to get another wiper motor and returning with a rear bumper, wiper motor, plastic boot lining, rear light...

Maybe it's connected with the late MK2 estates having a different wiper arm. MK1s and early MK2s (Like Richard's) have a metal wiper arm whereas the later MK2s had the same plastic arm as fitted to late Saxos, 106s and 206s.

The change occurred in 1999 but I'm not sure of the RP number when the change occurred.

Hi guys,

Some sad news, My xantia has died this morning, returning home from my works christmas doo in peebles. we made contact with an Astra.
everything has been sorted through the insurance but it is extensive F/O/s damage which means it will be an insurance write off.

Insurance comapnay on the ball and I had a courtisy car by 5.00 pm but...

Is it OK to use a tow rope to tow this?

I know the brakes are part of the hydraulic system which only works when the engine is running, and the backup measure Accumulator sphere only hold enough gas to stop a couple of times. Is that right?

So would it be foolish to tow it? Maybe a fixed tow bar/pole?

Hi, does anyone have a diagram or anything that can identify the fuses in a '98 Synergie please.
