Tyre pressure sensors

Post by xenton »

Got a flat towards the end of a long journey, no error message. Took the offending wheel off and replaced with spare, still no error message.

I though if the sensor was not working this in itself should give me an error message, so it just seems strange that no error message at all through this series of events has shown up.

Is this good news in that I can just have normal valves fitted? Any ideas what's going on?

Are you sure you have the sensors fitted? Should be able to tell from the look of the valve stems, sensors have a metal cap that screws down.

I get a message when approx 6psi has been lost, maybe they have been disabled.

Have just notice the back ns has a normal valve but the rest have sensors, so must have been disabled in the past.

And the spare won't have a sensor at all so it can go on either axle in the event its needed.

I used to change a lot of these a few years back as the different metal used in the cap vs the valve itself led to corrosion and a stuck cap = expense. We used to just put normal black plastic ones on instead of the chrome ones when the customer asked too.

Might well of been resolved, I'm sort of talking 2000 to 2006

I realise that, but I thought removing the flat wheel and it's sensor would cause an error message.
