I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

Anyone heard of Avon tyres. Are they any good and would they last on the front of a Cit think the model would be the ZV3s (?)

I've used Avons for the front rims on both the C5 and the Xsara. 215s on the C5 and 195s on the Xsara. I found no fault with them other than the fact that they lasted less than 19000 miles on the C5. On the Xsara they did a bit better at 24K.

To communicate with the garage in France where the Xantia is lying, I'm going to need the French for a number of parts, notably strut tops HYD SUSPENSION SPHERE BRACKET .

A friend (female) is bilingual, will translate e-mails but but is entirely ignorant of car terms in either language, so asking her to translate Citroen's sometimes rather wierd...

I have sussed it..

I was going about this the wrong way. You don't program the Comm 2000 unit. This is essentially plug and play .

What you program is the ESP function by using Lexia to calibrate the turn on the steering wheel.

Once on the right menu, a piece of cake.

I hope someone can help. I have a 2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi 138HP VTR+ - it has just over 40,000 miles on the clock.

Recently, and intermittently, it has started to vibrate quite badly. When the problem occurs, the following symptoms are present:

Hi all,

I want to change the fuel filter on my 2001 Xantia HDi 110 but I don't know which type I need, I hear there are 2 sorts. My filter housing has two connections on the top, not three if that makes a difference.

Any ideas?

If its any help on a 406 the one without the multiplug was the most common, on these we fitted just the filter element.

The other type with the plug, a rarer fitment. I seem to remember we had to fit the whole unit for these as there was no element available back then (like the 1.4HDi it was the whole lot ) it may of changed since then though.

My c5 was in for MOT yesterday and failed on the brakes, tester says the front brake was sticking and would be either the calipper or the cables.
Is there any way I can find out exactly which one it is?

I've found that the handbrake levers on the callipers get stiff, sometimes seized, due to the road salt getting past the seals, they can be freed off by applying plenty of WD 40, (use a thin blade to ease the seal back from its facing so that the lube can get in) then work the lever back and forth until it's free.

The only traffic information i get on my system is roadwork, but I don`t know if that is because the MyWay system is limited to this

Had a visit from Bandit12 today to pair a new key up for him.
Was an interesting visit, and proved that my Lexia worked with a different C5 (a 2.2 HDI auto) :D

I think the lights were different shapes, certainly the tail lights and probably side lights. If you get the front wings you might need the sidelight cluster and indicator repeater as well.

The Synergie, 806 and Useless were mainly distinguished by trim, upholstery and lights. I think the Useless could be ordered with a 3 seat bench for row 3....

Yes, the good blast in second or third, engine hot, clears loads of cr_p. Essential if my wife has been driving it for a few days as she rarely gets above 2500 rpm.

I think they were supposed to idle at 800 or so, but mine turns over at 1000. Originally there was a throttle damper, if you look where the cable ends under the bonnet the damper...

When I lift off the old Loud pedal theres a bearing-esque noise from the gearbox. It's also present when reversing.

Doesnt sound like a typical thrust bearing, as (in my mind) it sounds a bit more affected by the gearbox casing (as in the noise a casing makes when you tap it.... with a hammer! :p )

Well got the part and there is a clip/metal tie wrap that is £4+ but im going to try and take it off gentley first and see if it can come away as im sure i have the right tool to get the thing back on. Other than that the fella said that a tie wrap can do just as good a job :)

Rear axle faults.. being the rear wheels lean in and rub the arch on the inner side is a common xsara 206 and 306 with trailing arm suspension issue.. be wary.. easyer to replace the whole thing but the axles seem to be in short supply so is common. They arent as easy as xantia / bx arms to refurb if they have gone too far.

Check heater matrix...

I know my front breaks are rubbish. Because they are near the limit and the light kept coming on. So i put some tape over the wire to stop the light from coming on lol.
But when i break now. Im sure the back breaks are rubbing. Sort of like a granding sound. Then when i take my fot off the break. The sounds is still there for a couple of seconds...

I think the issue with recalls and cars is different batches and even different manufacturers of the same part.
I guess car makers chop and change depending what price they are offered.

Hi

Just had the C5 (2.0 VTR) mot'd and they say the front pads need replacing, the rear ones will need doing soon. Does anyone know if it's the same process on the mk3 as it was on the mk2 to replace them or are there some other pitfalls to look out for?

Hi all
Does anyone know if the Xenon headlights on a 2002 C5 are adjustable for LHD?
I am taking the C5 to France (I bought it for my dad) and he needs to register it over there so it will need a French CT test but it has UK spec headlights on it, had a look around for LHD xenons but cannot find any.
Failing that, can I just swap the Xenons for...

Hi, I've just received a shiny new spare key with transponder for my C5 from Patrick at Carkey help but for it to work I believe it has to be coded. Is anyone free to help do the 'lexia thing' and program the key to the car? Is this a lengthy process?

I love my 2001 HDi Xantia to bits, it's comfortable and lovely to drive, very economical too.... I just can't help thinking about how much cheaper to run an older XUD engined Xantia would be if it were run on waste veg oil, something an HDi engine just can't do.

hello, went to drive home from work, rear of car raised but front was slow or didnt. drove down ramp out of carpark with a left turn at same time the dash board lit up suspension fault dont go above 55 ( although it let me ) to get home. checked fuses, disconected battery for a bit, checked brakes.

hi dudes back again,been over to the dark side for about a year now,,,so got my self a citroen xsara Picasso desire 2.0 hdi 03---- got a few little probs

front and rear brakes c5 air in system???

just done the front and rear brakes. replaced front discs and pads and cleaned and greased where required all ok when tested.

rear removed and scrapped calipers and discs { what a b******d of a job to remove both sheared bolts on nearside} cleaned corrosion from normal place fitted new calipers with gasket and silicon grease new discs fitted and...

carried out bleeding the brakes today used three litres of fluid loads of air in the system used a gunsons easy bleed so brake peddle never moved during the the process but thanks for the advice. brakes are firm to press now just a very slight spongy feel due to pads still bedding in. thanks to myglaren and gibbo for there input.

So I've done the easy bit and got myself a new heater matrix. Have to go and fit it now. Any tips? Do I just start stripping everything from the centre of the dash till I find it or what?

Hi, I've a new foam on the way for Fiat Ulysse (C8 Pug 807 in disguise) as the old driver's side one is saggy. It's only the seat squab, not the backrest. I'm assuming that the foam is glued (or sprayed) onto the sear cloth. Has anyone any experience of doing this? TIA!

needle lift sensor wires

my friends P reg TD XANT sound like a bog of nails as reported in onther posts regarding the lift sensor,

the loom plug going to the sensor is two pin as we all know, but there are three wires in the loom plug, one being an earth, which pin dose this piggy back onto as its floating around not connected, pin No. 1 or 2 and could this cause the bag...

Xantia - replacing front brake flexi hoses

Hi guys, changed the front brake pads yesterday and noticed the front brake flexi hoses have started to crack. Have got new ones on order from AEP as local shop can't get them. Changed the rear suspension spheres too,thanks for the super guide!

The join to the caliper looks standard but where it joins onto the metal brake pipe looks a bit funny....

hi all, new to the board and looking for help....just bought a c2 on a 54 plate but headlights come on and stay on when i start the car and cannot find out how to turn them off ....took it to a garage and they have no idea either...all other lights do as they should, any help appreciated
