Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hi. Looking for either a video that or illustrative guide on changing spheres in Xantia HID. I was told it's not that complicated.

A good rule of thumb when the anti-sink sphere is dead; The car stays in correct height over the night. At the moment you start the engine the rear-end will sink to low and then raise again.

Oh goody. Mine does that so sounds like a new anti sink sphere will be needed too. That's going to have to wait until after christmas.

couple of months back my clutch helper spring came off and my clutch pedal depressed slightly but could still operate

but the problem now is that last nyt my clutch hit the floor with no resistance and i could not engage the clutch

so today I have removed clutch cable but it is still intact with the nylon clip in the foot well still attached...

Another reason can be failure of the nylon bushings on the clutch release shaft in the gearbox bellhousing. I had this happen on my old Sinker and it caused the clutch to be so bad it would only just release and take up was very jerky...

If it's just the top bush then it can be done in-situ, just. The bottom bush can only be done after removing...

Hi, my Xantia 1.9T.D. The slder switch that controls the fresh air or recycled air , seems to hit against something when trying to slide it to the left. could something have jammed ? anybody got any thoughts Terry.

This is a very common problem Terry and it's caused by a kink in the bowden cable that operates the recirculation flap(s) above the blower and air intake. You'll find the kink on the inner of the cable at the slider end.

Sadly, cable replacement is the only completely effective way to fix it although some have succeeded in turning the cable at...

hi, can anybody help me here, i can open the sunroof on my xantia, but it dont close so well, hv to hold what looks like a relay near the sunroof motor for it too close any ideas thanks in advance :)

As it opens OK, but won't close on the switch/relay, I'd suspect the switch. Had the same problem with my driver's side window - one-shot down every time, but umpteen tries to get it to close. Temporary solution was to swap with the rear door switch. Subsequently replaced with a good spare.

I have a 2002 C5, recently when I step into reverse, I can not hear the usual beep. I checked and found that the reverse lights do not light up, and the parking sensors were not working.
A few days later the beep went back to work, and with it the lights and sensors. I mean, it comes and goes.

I was out last night at a private function came out at 1.am last car in the car park someone had knocked the drivers mirror off it was hanging by the wire checked this morning the mirror is fine but the plastic backing is broken and the 3 screw fixings do you know if I can buy this part

My 2002 HDi Picasso has a couple of faults. Firstly, the dreaded in-tank pump is on the way out. 5 or 6 times now over the last few months, it has failed to start only to restart after a hefty clump on the unserside of the tank....

I was struggling to release the rear light unit on my Xantia estate because the wing nut had been screwed on by someone who had too much weetabix the morning the fitted it!!

Access with pliers is a pain - ditto moles.

Ive had a Halfords battery charger for a number of years and as you might know I have been having trouble with my battery draining since June, I havnt sorted that yet but the question today is I removed the battery from the car yesterday and charged it checked it this morning and the reading was 1244v do you think the charger is faulty this was a...

If the battery keeps going down within a few days power is leaking away somewhere, boot light stuck on, dodgy aftermarket alarm maybe or some of the Citroën electronics faulty or of course the alternator diodes popped.

As a guide, the standing current on a Xantia with the ignition off is around 50mA.

Has anyone any ideas!

My xantia v6 98 cuts out dead, about five minutes after starting from cold, and then it takes several turns to get it going! feels like fuel starvation!
From then on its perfect and runs just fine, It only happens from cold every day. Has anyone had this problem?

My rear tyres were down to 3 mm on the outside of the passenger side and 4 mm on the outside of the driver side at 12K service.

Just had to put new tyres on the rear at 22K as the tread was completly gone from the ouside of the passenger rear and just visible on the driver side.

Managed to grab an hour last weekend and fitted my uprated headlight bulbs into the Full Beams of the Xant. Notice that they have an off pattern almost like the focus in directly in front of the car rather than a wide angle. Is this normal?

I am finding the Xant hard to drive on windy country roads in the dark as I can't see into the corners....

I've got a S1 Xantia and the lights aren't great. I uprated the lamps to the Nightbreaker ones off eBay and they are much 'cleaner' but not a great deal brighter. I know the problem is the voltage drop. Between the battery and the lamps there is a 2 volt drop. Need to sort this with a new feed and relay. I find the most important thing is keeping...

How do you remove the wireless from a very late S2 Xantia with the flip-up cover?

I see four holes around the edge of the wireless so I guess I need some form of special tool for this... Poking various round things down the holes does not produce the desired result...

Hey there,
got an annoying little fault with the xantia: the lighting for the radiator speed/temp controls have died. they were dead on the last xantia too, and it's an annoying fault!
i did once on have the unit out on the old xant to change with a replacement unit. couldnt see bulbs or anything though...
any help appreciated.

Two small bulbs in the heater controls. You have to unclip and remove the black cover on the top to get at them. A bit fiddly but it isn't too difficult. I found that you had to move the heater controls into a certain position to get them out.

Mine weren't working for months until I got round to doing it!

After quite a few weeks of playing up and going all the way over to the right a couple of times a day, my tacho has now decided to stop working all together. My car is a Synergie with the semi auto injection pump. Should I replace the TDC sensor, and if so where can I find it?

Could also be a duff sensor for the rev counter. The old type of cars had the rev counter hooked up to the coil for a signal.

When I first got the Xantia 12 weeks ago, the temp gauge hovered around the 80deg mark. But for the last few weeks it sits squarely at 60deg and rarely rises near 80 unless in traffic. fans work and the thermostat appears to be operating ok.

How does this behavior strike you? (obviously the outside temp has gone right down lately but this began...

My 1.9D does run at about 80 on the gauge in colder weather but takes a long time to get there. I have replaced the thermostat in the past year which seemed to make little difference. Does it never get up to 80?

Tried to siphon out of filler neck no way, Cogitated and thought fuel pump sender remove and siphon from there ahha eureka, did the job refitted pump sender filled with diesel ah :(

I did that once in Tesco's, must have been about two gallons on the floor and it continued to run out all the way home, people were flashing me. :oops:

It wasn't a Citroen but a BMW, same principle though. I had just fitted a new fuel pump and hadn't got the large rubber seal around the top of the hole in straight, a lot of fiddling and...

hello all new member with minted 2.0hdi xantia used to only drive mondeos WHY :!: the hdi just keeps on giving when pushed all those wasted years and dont get me started on the ride quality =D> lol anyway cheers for now malc :-D

Hi All,

Returning home a couple of nights ago, the red stop light and the red light on the temp gauge starting flashing, then stopped after a short distance.

I checked the car the next day and nothing obvious but on Monday morning notice a leak, coming from the A/C compressor at the clutch, possibly a seal gone.I don't use the air con.

Be interested in the outcome here too. Have a 2001 Xantia HDi 110bhp on 89k which, surprise, surprise, started flashing its STOP light and temperature light at me last Monday.

Ran the car for 20 mins and local garage did too with no signs of rising temperature (sat around 96deg) although fans didn't cut in. Idled fine. However, the flashing...

In my Xantia the instrument panel illumination went out. I suspect that the fuse is blowen but I dont know which of the many is the one. there is no indication. could you please let me know which fuse is the rellevant one? or, if you know another possible reason - pls let me know.

Hi,

I've just joined the forum hoping some enlightened folk will be able to offer some clues about an ABS problem.

My wife's 2001 MK2 Citroen Xsara Estate 2.0 HDi Auto (not the Picasso) has been displaying the ABS warning light for the last 6 months.

It's nearing the MOT in December and I'm guessing if the light remains on it will fail.

My 1.8 sx Xantia is just about to go round the clock. It currently uses no oil and runs very clean. It will sit at 80mph all day and still return 35mpg. And I'd like to keep it that way. Our van seems to have developed a new fault the heater blower only works when it wants to some times when you go over bumps it kicks in then randomly turns off. is there an easy way to bypass the switch and just have an on off switch or even better fix the original one.van is a 2006 1.9 diesel

I cleaned the cabin temp sensor and lubed it up and things improved. Now, however, I have a nagging doubt about Automatic Climate Control operation and exactly how it should work.

Had a look. all were ok bar F6? Replaced that - working brake lights... two days later and brake lights gone again. . F6 ok now so will check F28 :/

Its a quick one.. Is a strut LEG on an sx td the same as a LEG on a vsx td? I know the tops are obviously different but just wondered if the strut legs are... If so it will save me loads of time..

Ooops. Spoke to soon. On the way back from Plymouth the temperature gauge went mad. Started at midpoint where it should be, then flicked to max, dropped a bit, then normal, then max where it has remained since. I'm guessing it's going to be the sender. My question is, on a 1.8 16v, where is it? Can't see it on the rad or hoses.

Ooops. Confession time. Negative lead wasn't that tight so I think that may have been the problem. It reads 12.5v at rest and over 14v when running so think alternator and battery are ok. Cleaned terminals and clamps so fingers crossed for the winter. Good spot though, I'd have never have checked.

I have Lexia, both V45 and also diagtool 5.29. I want to update the engine ECU and got as far as selecting download from CD, but then can not seem to get any further. My question is are the ECU update files on the Lexia V45 CD or is there another CD which contains only the update files? I have...

Well this notorious pulley is beginning to make the I'm soon gonna chuck it noise at start up. I contacted GSF today but they say they don't do these - dealer only I'm told. Is this true? does anyone know of another place to find this and how much they can be had for?

A friend of mine has a leaky rear height corrector on his S2 Xantia estate, to the point it's failed the MOT.

I have a box of 2nd hand height correctors from cars that have passed through my hands, mainly GSAs, but also the odd CX and an XM.

They all look the same, does anyone know whether height correctors are interchangeable, front to rear and...

if they are rubber dust covers they just pull off with you finger ( who mentioned finger [-X ),

sometimes they are plastic and you might prize them off with a screwdriver,

then the diaphams you need to gently prize off the alloy retaing rings,

Hi guys. Just been for my MOT (ITV actually) and Fred failed on the brake lights not working.

They were working a couple of days ago so that's a bit of bad timing. Anyway found the fault to be in the brake switch, the plastic blob/ push thingy which pushes the 2 electric contacts together has slightly melted so it's too short to push the 2...

We used to have MOT stickers but only as a reminder and they were never mandatory. Now, we have a new MOT 'certificate' here and the sticker has gone.

Shame as I think they're a good idea. I believe we should display a tax, MOT and insurance disc...

It's not really necessary to display anything as Plod just types in the Reg no; the PNC provides...

drained the cooling system on the on my Xantia 2ltr. hdi 2000 and added new antfreeze can only find one bleed screw on the top of the thermostat housing is there any more also the haynes manual says to seal a bottle onto the filler is this necessary

The C5 (2.0 8v HDi) suddenly this evening has developed a severe misfire.
On investigation, there's little life from pot no 3 - disconnecting the injector makes a slight but minimal difference.
The injector shows electrical continuity, and there's a firing pulse from the ECU.
Quantities of white unburnt diesel smoke are emerging from the exhaust,...

I have heard that worn injectors on hdi can cause head or piston damage more readily than old school diesels. Much higher fuel pressures I assume.
