C5 mk3 brake pad replacement

Post by bluesumo »

Hi

Just had the C5 (2.0 VTR) mot'd and they say the front pads need replacing, the rear ones will need doing soon. Does anyone know if it's the same process on the mk3 as it was on the mk2 to replace them or are there some other pitfalls to look out for?
Just thought I would ask before I start taking it all apart!!

Thanks

Handbrake is on the rear on a MK3 C5, so changing the front pads is very simple.

Replaced the front pads - it was easy as Lighty said. Just checked the back ones and they are worse than the front ones! So....can anyone please offer any advice on the best way to do the rear pads on a c5 mk3? Are there any pitfalls - how to disconnect the handbrake cable, which way to wind back the pistons, is the handbrake self adjusting when I put it back together or do I have to adjust in the first place?

Any help would be greatfully received as there doesn't seem to be a great deal of info relating to the mk3.
