I've just returned from having my C5 Tourer serviced and noticed a comment on the advisory that there is 1 wheel bolt missing from each wheel. I've just phoned back and waiting for them to call me but wondered if this is something I need to sort out quickly or is it not a major issue?

I'm guessing the latter as they did not mention it.

Why would a Citroen garage be remotely interested in a plastic wheel bolt cover? It's not part of any service.
Did they advise you that there are any paint chips on the car? Any scuffs on your alloys?
Just don't understand this one at all. :?
As you have an X7 Tourer, you will have 5 bolt wheels I presume but even so, if it was an actual bolt...

C5 II Strange behavior

When the car is locked after about 5-10 minutes the dipped lights turn on and windshield wipers start. :?:

When I press the remote lock (even the car is locked) wipers stop and headlight off.
In order to see what's happening I got in the car and locked the doors. Cabin lights turn off,
and after a while I hear the system turns off and ECU goes...

As RichardW and myglaren suspected the battery was low. The battery health gauge was resting on the low part and moved to its normal position with some delay. Then I checked the battery eye and the green color was gone :(

I'd go along with likely faulty lift pump in the tank, look for very fine brass dust in the fuel filter housing. Your symtoms almost identical to mine when lift pump failed.

Take care when checking this. You must not allow any debris to fall into the body of the filter housing, some people take the complete filter housing off the car and change...

Failed MOT - Supplementary Restraint System warning lamp indicates a fault

I've removed the connecting plugs and directly connected wires under both seats but it's still not having it.

I think I've read somewhere that you can put some resistors in line to solve this, any one done this?

I've been to look at another Xantia but it needs a clutch. Its a pull type with an auto adjusting cable.

Its done a fair few miles but worth doing I think.

Are there any secrets- pitfalls to look for? Reading up on them (what I can find) a new cable will need fitting at the same time, as the rachet can't be reset, can it?

Hi

This is a correction for my post about a leaking union. I fount out that it is the front anti sink valve that is located below the Doser. I detached it and found out the there is an O-ring that causes the leaking. Can this O-ring be bought from Citroen ?

The car is Citroen Xantia 2.0 16V automatic make year 2000

Its possible but its no more likely to than a 1.9, they blow gaskets as well at about the same mileage. As Pauls says, if they used laminated steel gaskets on them they could well last longer. The Hdi engine uses the laminated gasket and I have one that has done 216,000 miles without needing a replacement.

Hi,
My son went through a big puddle on Friday. It turned out to be deeper than he thought ( he travels this road every working day ). The resulting wave tore off some of the silly plastic clips which hold the exhaust guard up, which then fell, digging into road.

It happened to me again...

This time it's the pipe to the front activa cylinder that burst. And again LHM on the road. For the fourth time now in 8 months.

Will it ever end? :x

Yes it was one of those flexi pipes... A pebble came between the pipes just above the activa cylinder and it was stuck there for who knows how long. It slowly cut through the pipes until the inevitably happened...
I believe that the routing was correct and I couldn't find the correct routing on your website.

You know I don't even know what model. Had alloys and cruise control etc. The car was tight and engine good but to tell you the truth I thought I hear knocking in the drivers rear. Having had trailing arm issues in C5s it stood oit BUT there is no telling some women! ; )

I would change the oil at no more than 10000 miles or a year, if not sooner, and use the oil that is recommended, it's the most important thing to do on these. Otherwise decent cars, I love mine

I would halve that mileage. As it is a simple DIY job it won't break the bank.
A lot cheaper than a cabbaged turbo either way.

Hum from engine bay

Good morning All,

Over the past couple of weeks a low level hum has been coming form the engine bay. The general area is driver's side of engine aux belt area. I suspect possibly a bearing but which one.The nose increases slightly with speed. It is not the front wheel bearing as I can hear at idle,car standing still.

Any thoughts :?:

Well, finally finished the turbo change and everything works great except that the front suspension doesn't go up and down. Rear suspension is fine.

Do you think something needs to be reset? Could it be related to the anti-roll bar which I took off when I removed the front sub-frame?

I discovered another Xantia rust area and the cause of the rot too!!

Inside the passenger wheel arch, mainly on S1 cars, as S2 cars had a slightly better cover, though its NOT immune, theres a small square Grommet that covers a Cill Internal Inpection Hole!

Short lived euphoria. 2 miles down the road they stop working! Rechecked the earth wire in the headlight. It's ok. So not that then. Looks like previous comment about not taking the amps is true as I got 12v at the bulb but the bulb didn't illuminate - hot wired earth and on it came. In my Xantia the hydraulic pipe 4 way union is leaking ( Citroen part number 5280 N8 it is leaking the supply piping to the streeing gear). I didn't detuch it but it looks that there is a cap that is leaking. Can it be fixed or a new one should be bought ?

Uk rhd cars are setup slightly different.. citroen instead chose to make the pas pipe one single pipe right round from the pump across the engine bay to the right side chassis runner to the back of the engine bay and then down to the front edge of the subframe and across to the pas pinion.. so a uk car might not help you here..

Hi all
wife's car has started to play up, :rofl2: it displays on dash that rear door is open, (no its shut [ :^o ) rear interior door light stays on, thus central locking wont function. [-X whilst driving the display continues to say rear door is open and central locking tries to activate.

However I took it to work yesterday just to road test it over distance and it didn't do it once there or back (30 mile) I have just been out to it and reluctantly locked it, and it worked. =D> =D> =D> I can now only assume that it was water from the washer pipe and has since dried (hopefully) So fingers crossed. I recently had my timing belt (Citroen C5, 2.0HDi, 2004 make, diesel) snap while driving below 5 miles/sec.
I did not know at the time, and tried the ignition 4 times, after the car stopped.
My mechanics, checked and found that the belt was not really cut, but had split at some section.

heres the deal , I bought a citroen c5 hdi yesterday , been mint all day , tonight I take the fuel pump out the tank to look at the gauge sender , put it back and it starts fine , get 10 mins up the road and the eml comes on and the car cuts out ,

I have to lock and unlock on remote to get it to start but the eml stays on , then it runs for a...

Hi all A few weeks ago I bought a 51 plate Citroen C5 2 litre HDi lx. The first day it developed a coolant leak. I was given advice on the forum, but due to every possible thing going wrong and illness I only managed to get it sorted yesterday. Thanks for the help.

However went to drive her today, after about 3/4 of a mile she died completely....

Chaps can anyone shed some light on my activation issues?

Quick summary
computer is an HP netbook, with win 7 starter edition, 32bit, SP1

Brought a l£xia clone, came with DVD’s (not looked at them yet)

Went to a Simon’s (Mandrakes) site and downloaded 3 Rars ..

Extracted those into a single ISO

Used 7-Zip to extract the ISO into its...

Put the NEW S1 on the road today finally.

The original Citroen battery is indeed dead.

So I borrowed the battery off the HDi.

Problem is I left it unlocked. So I went around and pushed each button down - FINE!

However, then I realised the boot was not locked and it is blanked off on the HDi. Not sure why. Feel it is probably a standard thing....

I was in a scrapyard in Manchester today, collecting 21 tons of scrap aluminium and noticed this poor Xantia. The site is part of the car takeback scheme and while I was there several cars were driven in, a 52 reg Fiesta, 51 reg Skoda Fabia and an elderly Polo, many of the scrappers looked in really good nick! Hello Folks

What does this screw do?

It seems to be the same - the Xantia has a disc fix screws (Haynes describes them as disc securing screws), C5 has capscrews and the BX has both (capscrew to RPO No. 03886; disc fix screw from RPO No. 03887) in the same place.

I know it sounds like the bleeding obvious - it holds the wheel on, right?! Or, at...

I'm fitting wheel spacers and trying to avoid drilling holes in them for the peg , I've still got the alignment tool that comes with the jack & wheel brace kit so will rely on that if I need help putting the wheels on.

tinkering with the wagon just now checking how bad the lower engine mount is, and noticed the exhaust is blowing at the sealign ring quite a bit,
ive dont them before on the BX and know its not the nicest of jobs when limited on space, but thought i'd ask the Oracle's just how bad a job it is on the td?? is it the sort of job that...

Hiya, a bit of pre-alpine snowboarding forethought....

Has anyone experienced any problems with LHM fluid in very cold conditions?

Say at around -20 Degrees Celsius?

I'm thinking that the viscosity might just become too thick and potentially cause an issue?

Often get winter temperatures of -18 up here. Temperatures of -22 to -27 have been recorded often over the years. Worst in the Highlands and the north east but plenty diesel, hydractive Citroens on the roads. :rudolf:

My Hdi 110 estate has started to 'run on' for say half a second when I turn off the ignition, causing the exhaust to bump under the car. Or, (perhaps) the exhaust is coming loose and bumping on the under side of the car when the ignition is turned off. This happens when the engine is warm.

I've tried for an hour! Yes Ive taken out the two torxs.

Just putting my NEW Xantia S1 on the road today.

Battery was flat (as you would expect from standing for 4 nearly 5 months. Am trying to recover that now.

However, when I opened the door, there is a rapid clicking as though the alarm is going of.

What confuses me is there is no immobiliser in this car. I have never seen a Xantai S1...

Anyone got an easy answer for replacing the offside sidelight bulb? Ive taken cover off, the LDS tank is in the way as well, but the hole is so small i can only just touch the back of the wiring let alone the bulb. Also is it worth changing both to Led's :?:

I have changed a couple of those bulbs, the holder comes out when you yank the cables. In fact that is the way handbook tells you to do it. I wear size 8 gloves though...

My car has ba9s-type led-bulbs now, they fit when you file the other pin off.
