Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hey guys

I've been complaining about the rather annoying stationary height difference between the front and rear on my C5 lately.
I plugged in the Lexia and finally got it sitting at equal heights. Weird thing is though, the front is still at its usual 128 steps but I had to set the rear to 144 steps!

local mechanic plugged it in to the computer and came up with faulty

Hi . The rear suspension struts on my C5 est 06 plate seem to be held in by 2 bolts , can the struts be removed without removing the spheres , I need to replace the rubber gaiter . John.

looking at service citroen yes it seems there is a collar behind the sphere and around the neck of the strut/cylinder,
the cylinder will come out forward so yes the sphere will need removing,

although it is usually possible to replace the boot without removing the cylinder,

jack the car up and safely support it before getting underneath,...

Was out fitting my new leather seats this evening. Have the rears and the passenger seat in. The seat struggles about halfway when its being moved back and forward. Went down to my friends garage today, with my arm bearing kits, put the Xantia on the lift, R clip comes out no problem, anti roll bar bolts unscrew - we're on a roll here.

Until.......the foot from the ram won't come out, it appears to be rusted in, and is the same on both sides. Any advice chaps?

Once again my plip has gone Kaput.I swapped my previous Xantia one with a s/h unit but that was an IR version.Can we adopt similar reprogramming methods or is this a no go.Is it the dreaded main agents. Thanks for any news good or bad

Almost certainly, if the alarm doesn't 'set' with a bleep, your ultrasonic sensors are kippered. Very common. If the alarm 'sets' with a bleep then this means at least one mechanical sensor is saying it's not happy and often it's the boot or bonnet switch. Lexia will spill the beans...

To discount the ultrasonics, set the alarm with them...

Hi all,

I decided to check out the rear discs on the HDi and found the following

1. N/S appears okay stripped down clean and refitted
2 O/S uugh :( Disc is not in good condition, snapped bolt on removal but have spare and sorted,massive build up of oxidation on caliper and finally the brake pipe gave up the ghost. new one required

My C5's suspension is leaking from the pipe that runs from the near side (what i believe is the) hydraulic reservoir to the pump on the off side.

More specifically its leaking at the point where the pipe is anchored to the sub frame.

Hi All

Just wondered if people know of anything you can buy for the foot rest for the left foot as I spent 3 hours on the car this afternoon and noticed the foot rest was looking a bit tatty even thought only done 4.8k miles in 8 months, maybe rubber or carpet stick on?

Xantia's the same but done 152k mile so understanderble. :-D

Hi everyone,

The steering wheel on my 99 Xantia is falling apart (rubber worn) and living in Croatia I can't seem to find any used spare at the junk yards down there (not many Xantias in general). I'd go with any other that fits from a C5, C4 etc and there are plenty of those. It's just I'll need to buy the airbag together with the steering wheel...

Autoliv, who were originally Swedish, own the designs for a good chunk of the airbag and seatbelt supply to Euro manufacturers. It makes sense that they would adjust standard items to suit a specific application, rather than start with a clean sheet of paper each time.

Like to keep on top of things, car done 82k and the eolys tank was last topped up according to the history at approx 50k.

I know it lasts approx 50k but I like to get things done in advance and not wait till the car warns me, looking to do it before 90k.

So is this something I can do myself?

I have a 1.6 HDI berlingo van 57 plate. I had a problem with the EGR Valve is somehow lost the bottom pressed in plate resulting in the exhaust gas being directed onto the fuel pressure sensor. the end of this and the plug melted. So I got a pressure sensor from ebay soldered on another connector and replaced the egr valve. Bobs your uncle I...

Never heard of that one... What diagnostic machine did the garage use? It does not sound like a Lexia message and I'd not trust anything other than a Lexia or ELIT to tell the truth...

Quite often the problem is with the seatbelt pre-tensioner wiring plugs/sockets under the seats becoming loose/disconnected. Checks those first before suspecting...

Anyone know where I can source a new turbo outlet hose for my '99 Xantia 2.0 Hdi other than through the main stealer (£121.00 + vat)? The one that runs behind the rad to the inter-cooler has a patched up 3 inch split in it which works for now. Tried a few places with no luck. Thought it was going to be pricey but that seems a bit on the scary side...

I had a similar problem on my first Berlingo Multispace which I'd bought new, at random intervals when unlocking the rear wiper would do a complete wipe stroke. A couple of dealers looked at it but gave up with a French shrug, it was put down to the joys of French Multiplex wiring :lol:

Hi guys. After finally managing to change my front discs and pads recently (W reg Xantia 2Litre HDI) The ABS light has been on.I believe it could be an issue with the sensors but not sure where they are. I couldnt find them to disconnect when changing the pads and discs so just carried on without any problems. The abs had been on intermittently...

I decided to re-adjust the ride height on the Xantia at the weekend.

Clearly, the common general assertion is 3 fingers front, 1 finger rear.

I was just wondering what others thoughts were on this as I am trying to improve the ride of the car and simply cannot accept that it was right.

The idle is smooth when the AC is off, when AC is switched on the idle becomes a bit rough. Is this normal ?

maybe your AC pump pulley bearing are failing,
if this is the case mind the pulley does not cause the aux drive belt to drop off and end up behind the cam belt cover, which in turn can cause the cam belt to fail,

Started getting fumes in car, unless I put air on re-circulate.
Tonight I took engine top covers off to discover what looks like, blowing from around injector, opposite end to gearbox.
How bad is this.

The heater on my C5 seems to have very little volume of air coming from the outputs, even with the fan on full there is not much of a draught, I have checked the pollen filter - but it doesn't seem to have one, any suggestions or are they all like this. Takes me back to the CX heater!

I've owned this car for 5 years. It has been very reliable and trouble-free. It is still a pleasure to drive but it is now letting in rainwater which forms a deep puddle in the space where the spare wheel is stored. Is this a known problem? Does anyone know where the water is likely to be entering?

Just picked up my third C5,first one son crashed ,second one I was involved in a multi car shunt on the motorway=written off.Third time lucky.

I took off the calipers and checked the pistons as they were slow releasing on the o/side which had a worn away dust boot and the n/side, renewed over a year ago, the seal was perfect and piston returning okay.

I lubricated the o/side with a little flush out using brake fluid and it is now returning into the caliper but the n/side one which was...

i belive you should not wind the pistons backwards in calipers with the hand brake mechanism built in,

i use duck oil to lub caliper pistons inside the dust covers,

and the mounting bolt's.pin's are usually caliper slides these must move in and out freely otherwise the caliper will bind/drag,

Andy, thanks for confirming the problem is only when cold, every bit of info helps.
I will try the Eco switch to see if it does it then, when we get the car that is, should be just a few days more.
Usually Eco disengages (or reduces power to) automatic air con, basically to switch it off so saving energy as not doing much in mid winter :)

I fitted the box to the C5 yesterday, no problem fitting it except that you have to remove the fuel filter to get to the plug and even then its tight but didn't take many minutes. Went to Axminster this morning, no apparant improvement in fuel consumption but it goes like a rocket, so there will probably be a tuning box for sale.

Hi!
First of all my english is not good!

I have a Xantia Activ -96

My problem are that the car not rising and the stop lamp lights.
No click from pressure regulator and it seems to admits the return to tank. Or is there something else that gives return, but should not return were split up in this case?

I disconnected the vacuum hose that is hocked onto the Fuel Pressure Regulator and it seems that it doesn’t have any effect . When I blocked the end of the hose with my finger I can definitely say that vacuum is there. What should be the effect of disconnecting the vacuum hose from the FPR

This refers to 1998 T reg Citroen Xantia 1.9TD automatic with 155K miles on the clock and counting.

On the way to work Red STOP lamp flickered and then became solid.
Checked the LHM fluid level and was shocked to find the 1 litre bottle disappeared right before my eyes.
Obviously a leak had developed but where. Quickly drove back home to deal...

Hi,
Newbie here.
I have a 1992 2.0 liter XM, hasn't run in 12 years. Got it started with ether, then pouring fuel down the injector body. Sounds good.
Only getting 6.5 volts to the fuel pump. I have read there is a wiring loom with plugs under the LHM tank?
Can someone enlighten me about the electrical feed to the pump?

Club-xm is down so ill ask all xmites here!

My car starts a journey ok, but at some point in the journey chucks itself into hard mode, when I come to a stop and do the bounce tests, there is no movement at all it is just solid.
Is this likely to be down to the ECU?
If so could I use the ECU from my estate for testing purposes? I guess some...

Well, when the electrovalves are working, you are gaining suspension compliance from the centre sphere, which is essentially undamped and quite high pressure. When the valve shuts out that sphere, you are back to one deadie. And that, with a sturdy anti-roll bar, is enough to make it very harsh.
