I don't have knowledge of the Peugeot, but the issue of a loose connection is known with several makes of car.
I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

Hi all.
Not sure this is the correct area.....
I've got a 2003 Saxo 1.6VTR full race car. I've heard that the Peugeot 306 front brake discs are a good upgrade for the Saxo front disks. Can anyone tell me if they are just a straight swap & which ones to use? I'm running the 14 Saxo wheels & std brake callipers.

all the 306's i have seen/worked on have been on 14's, and all the Saxo's/106's have been on 13's
I think the Saxo VTR / VTS run on the 14 rims (at least mine does), so if that is the case, 306 14 brake discs should fit?

Xantia, rusty fuel filler pocket.

Hi all,

My Xantia has a big rot hole in the fuel filler pocket. Has anyone replaced one? It looks to me that it's spot welded in around the edge and I suspect is bonded in some way too, but I'm not sure. I may just chop the filler out of my donor XM and get that stitched in to baffle Citroen fans.

Any easy way of doing this?

Turns out is has a Bosch EDC16C34_CEM unit fitted. Not sure if this is any different to other EDC16C34 units or not. Whatever, it seems to have the capability to directly control the fluid additive pump without the presence...

The Saxo exhaust has been gradually crumbling away since we got the car last winter, did a few bodges to wring a bit more time out of it but when the wife was pulled up by the Police last week and given a warning it was time to bite the bullet and go for it. Whole system needed including the cat.
Just for a laugh I got a quote from Kwick fit....

Switch could well be dying that would explain the clicking, seems to effect 306's more but the switch is about the same.

The clunk could be anything. I thought mine was top mounts but changing them did not cure it initially.

The shocker insert can work loose although a weird tool is needed you can use large grips in situ to check its not coming...

So my 06 eclusive 2ltr hdi says low tyre pressure. I assume this is a faulty sensor. Thing is how do your know which one? Not got to grips with the consol yet.

Likewise how can I check the parking sensors which aint working?

Also C4 1.6 Hdi read there are problems with engine re turbo etc. Bith cars are at 78,000 what sort of service do these...

for my 1998 S2 xantia, there are no xantias on our local scrap yards and I have checked five different yards.

does anyone know if 4 stud wheels from a Picasso fitted with 185/65R15 tires will fit a c5 fitted with 205/65/15 wheels and tires with out adverse effect

There shouldn't be any problems except that the 185/65/15 load index would be something like 88 (and H ).
You should check your C5's load index from your car's documents.
For example mine has specifications as 215/55/16 with load index 93 and speed W .

Please help me im getting no where with the dealers.

My C5 exclusive has devolved a fault with its suspension. It came up on the dash with the service light and 'Suspension fault max 55mph' and over the past week the suspension has got lower and to the point now where its is catching speed bumps.

Hi Folks

I have a recurring problem with my C5 2.2 hdi fan blower.
The connectors for the blower keep melting meaning no fan and fogged up windows.
I've used a local auto electrician twice who has replaced different connectors with heavy duty connector block but now it has happened again :x , probably somewhere hidden deep inside the dashboard....

I think i have found it. Because no radio has ever been fitted the cable was taped to some wires deep inside the dash. You are correct the cable has a small plastic plug on the end and not a traditional metal plug (MKII C2)

For the connection cables, loosk like there are 2 types. With and without steering stalk controls.

Once you get a water pump installed, something from a Renault 19 16v would do then all you really need is a cheap old mobile phone with one of those asda sim cards in it and then take the cables from the ringer speaker and use that to kick the FBH and pump in using something like a 555 timer to allow 20mins of running and maybe plumb the interior...

According to Wikipedia there is a n/a variant of the 2.1 12-vlave XUD11 engine, called the XUD11A.

However, so fat I haven't encountered a single vehicle that uses it, or even references to it's existence apart from Wikipedia.

Has anybody ever actually seen one? Or know what they were used in?

I know that the battery is under the passenger seat(never seen it though)on my 2000 Picasso 1.6 and to remove it I have to tilt the passenger seat (apparantly) but pushing and pulling the levers does not seem to make any diffence, the seat is solid as a rock. I only want to check the battery connections.... can anybody offer any practical advice?

leaking fuel filter on my C5 hdi 136 fix.

Hi everyone, I've had my C5hdi estate for just on 12 months and have had an annoying leak around the top of the fuel filter. Last weekend, in sheer desperation, I took it with a small rubber hammer gently tapping the ring with the engine running and the seal finaly reseated in the groove and no more leaking filter. Hope this helps someone fix this...

A head light bulb went on the way to work on Thursday morning - then when I checked it, realised that the sidelight was out as well. Thinking back I am sure I have never changed a Xantia side light in 11 years / 210k!! I also had to change a number plate bulb - again a first. Our C3 1.4hdi 70 bhp (old shape) is showing the first signs of clutch slip at 73k miles. Last time I had to do a clutch on a car was a Mk1 Cortina in 197x something but we have had 2 children learn to drive on this one so that won't have helped.

Am I right in thinking that is hydraulic non adjustable operation, so its likely to be...

I'm looking at replacing my old Peugeot 406 with a newer C5 1.6Hdi. I notice that the CO2 emissions are are slightly lower from 1st June 2006 putting it in a lower tax class. Peugeot 407s are the same albeit from October 2006.

Does anyone know what's behind this. Was the engine improved?

Hi all having had a good lexia session on my 2.2 2001 C5 and having replaced the MAF my C5 is like a new car {well new to me}it has power again and i can get up hills without much use of the gearbox the only fault that comes up and puts the car into limp mode, is temp fault engine torque regulation does anybody have any pointers as to what causes...

Picasso key fob operation question

Hi, I have a 2 button key fob for my picasso 2.0l hdi 2002.

I can lock the car with the bigger of the 2 buttons, but not open it. The only way to open it is with the smaller button.
Is this normal?

I have a Saxo 1.1 2001, I have been doing up , I wanted to check the timing belt was ok so i wipped the top cover off and was turning the engine over by the cam pulley, I know you should nt do that and i think i maybe learning why.
the car would nt start and i couldnt work out why, i have now taken the belt covers off and i think the timing...

It does indeed and make sure you use good ones. I had some eBay specials once that stretched too much, i think you can guess what the end result was.

also mind the pisron liners protrude the correct amount, otherwise you will not be able to stop the coolant going straight into the combustion chambersv :yikes: , then out the exhaust :roll: :wink:...

Return trip from Woking was as good as it gets. The C5 was again supremely comfortable and able . No real hold ups. A couple of 50 mph sections of the M6 but no queues on the Northbound journey.
Woking to Carlisle(stopover)...317 miles. 4 hours and 35 minutes....40.3 MPG.
Carlisle to Inverurie....248 miles. 3 hours and 38 minutes...39.7 MPG.

No, it's not clean yet. I'm thinking about giving it a wash but the street is a mass of ice and I don't want to add to it. I'm also thinking, is it worth washing it when its going to get filthy in minutes?

Hi, I have a 1954 H van, with a traction engine, will this need a fuel additive, or will the valve seats be OK with normal unleaded? :?

It depends how much lead memory is left in your seats. If it has been run for years with unleaded then there will be some/much valve recession. I ran a 1961 Land Rover for about 4 yrs with a non leaded head. I put a splash of additive in now and again.
I bet your engine doesn't work quite as well as factory intended with this crap Ethanol...

Other than getting off aux and timing belts anyone have any general tips on removing the high pressure fuel pump please. Are there any obscure tools or any parts I need to replace?

I'm taking it off to have a go at trying to seal one of the cylinder housings.

Hi, my 1996 Xantia TD. The top of the LHM reservoir seems to be leaking a small amount of fluid. I guess there is a seal on the top? would cleaning it resolve the leak or do I need to change the seal? thanks inadvance Terry. :?

i would have thought if your concerned about the messy tank top, you could just re/profile the securing rod/clamp, so it holds the riser down more firmly

by blowing into the breather hose in the filler cap,

c5 rear window de-mister.

Well its the time of year just when I need the rear window de-misted, and or course it dont work!
So Ive done all checks, stripped down and removed rear break light cover, and have got 14v+ to terminal block (c5 2006 est). So fuse and relay OK.
I cant see any breaks in window element, but the actual connection where it goes into rear screen are...

Have you checked the 'earthy' end of the demister for volts, shouldn't be any if there are check the connection. The window relay problem is probably due to corrosion round the switch, a very common fault, mine has never worked but I have never felt the need to use it.

Im thinking of getting a remap as with 109bhp I struggle occasionally when towing.

Does anyone have experience of mapping these engines and is the drivetrain ok with the extra bhp and torque?

chaps, got the MOT tomorrow,,, was positive about it until I popped head under rear of car tonight..

Problem with de-cating a petrol and leaving the boxes in place is they tend to resonate through the empty boxes.

We've got two V8 Petrol Range Rover's which run on LPG, both of which are de-cat'd. We tried on one with empty boxes but the noise was horrendous so we got some pipe, cut the cats out and welded them in. Noise levels are about the...

We have 4 in our family.

We have 2 family cars - a Phase 2 hdi Estate - lovely car - but airbag symbol always lit.

A phase 1, 1.9 DW8 Estate - smokes and misfires every morning - then runs great.

One of our 19 year old sons has just done an engine swap - now his diesel pump doesn't like his key - see other posts....

I did this on a 406 once, put it back together, non start. Warning lights appeared to work.

Investigated found one of the large earth straps not refitted :oops: , refitted and all good.

Hi,

I have recently purchased a 54 Citroën Relay 2.0 HDi that I am planning on converting into a camper. Before I plough on into the conversion I wanted to give the van a service. So far I have changed the oil and the air and oil filters, have purchased a fuel filter and have topped up the coolant (but just with water).

assuming not, then transmission oil, and cambelt (plus kit) water pump.. at 100K they are right on for a change

At the dealership it tended to be 3litres for petrol and 4litres for diesel units. That's just what parts handed out when you went to collect your service items, filters etc. Was always that way as far as I remember.

To be honest 3 is probably sufficient in most cases anyway (famous last words!) I think if you flush out all the old properly etc.

Hi, xantia s1 petrol non hydractive here. I had replaced two rear spheres (left and right) and front main sphere, purchased original citroen (grey in colour) sphere with exact spec for my car which are 30 for the rear and 62 for main. Get them installed and done citroebics etc. Whats bugging me is the ride is not that soft as I remember it was...

So, the rear sphere doesnt affect the tick rate, Im thinking it could be leaking somewhere or maybe the regulator itself, I will let you guys know if I found out anything, thanks for the info.
