Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hi all, it looks like engine stalling at very slow speed is a common problem in my C5 as I read through the Citroen Forums which I could possibly find in the web.

There is no exact fix. Clean the throttle body regularly may help. In the worse case, simply refresh the ECU by disconnecting the battery for about 15mins.

Can anyone tell me why .. THIS EXCLUSIVE HDi appears to have a lower spec inside then THIS EXCLSUIVE HDi
I can see obviously that the second one has Sat Naf, but the stereo looks much more classy and is that a DVD player??

The non sat nav ones have a bright orange display like a pug 405 from yesteryear. It doesn't suit the car so well.

Hi all, as previous posts I've been trying to sort the harsh ride out on the Xantia well finally went ti GSF where I bought the spheres from to get some hydroflush. Bought it and just as I was leaving thought I would ask the guy the part numbers for the spheres turned out the guy who sold me the spheres had given me hydractive front spheres...

Hi I am having problems with my C5 estate HDi, 02 plate......start car up driving along and the temperature gauge on the dash board goes down to the 2 cold markers then slowly returns to the middle of the temperature gauge ....and just repeats the down to cold back to middle.

When I have the blowers on they are blowing hot air then sudden blast...

This morning my car developed a fault with the climate control. The driver side works as expected from 'LO' to 'HI', but the passenger side just seems to be stuck on outdoor air temp. Just no heat or aircon no matter what temperature i select.

If i put drivers side on 'LO' the passenger side feels warmer in comparison, if i put the drivers side...

Hi, A couple of weeks ago I replaced rear brake pads , caliper bolts and cleaned up trailing arm and caliper of oxcide build up. The ride is now harder , should I have bleed the brakes on my Xantia? any thoughts, cheers Terry . :oops:

Hi - my installation of Citroen Service Box now starts in French with no vehicle images to select. Changing language to English still shows no vehicles. I recall that this is a Windoze registry issue - a key has to be altered/entered. A system restore has messed my installation up, dammit. Does anyone on the forum know where that key should be? I...

In my experience if Service Box gets corrupted or messed up in any way, a full uninstallation and reinstallation is necessary to fix it...
I suppose it's back to hours of installing then? And reliance on the keygen...

When I first paired my iPhone 4S to the on board Bluetooth (no nav) I could press the list button while playing music and list the artists. But a couple of days ago it started saying button unavailable . I have tried deleting and pairing again. It works fine over USB.

In the manual, there is a tempting picture of a remote control to make a heater come on (timed or instant). I've never seen one mentioned in a UK car manual before.
Is it possible to get it retro fitted, and are all the bits already there int he engine bay.
I've considered many times getting a after market one fort he other cars but never quite...

Has anyone fitted parking sensors to a mk1 C5 estate ? If so how easy was it and do you recommend any kits in particular ? Will it make a difference having a tow bar on my car ?

I must be old-fashioned, I regard a towbar as a substitute for reversing sensors. ;)

My C5 has aftermarket sensors but they were on the car when I got them, it's not an estate and it doesn't have a towbar. They seem to work quite well, with an audible and visible display to show you how close you are getting. The display is mounted on the roof...

Series 2 Xantia HDI 110 year 2000 I have a small cooling water leak seams to be from the wee unit just below the heater pipes going through the bulkhead one hose going in and one out and two wires coming out of the front, I need you to tell me what this unit is and can it be repaired or replaced.

Is this the unit fitted on the bulkhead about in line with the flywheel? If so, then it is an electric water heater, and if it's leaking, then chances are it's been cooked when refilling / bleeding the coolant - been there done that :roll: anyhow - Dickie G changed the one on his car - it's not easy! A new one is quite dear, but is fitted...

When driving up a hill at 25mph or so have noticed a sort of vibration. Car is in D3.
This evening the car was in D2 and up a slight hill the car kangarooed like a manual does when you let the clutch out too fast.
Also today, at 30mph on the flat the car was in D5, which is surely too high for 30, since usually on a flat its maybe in fourth and...

Saturday before last was auxiliary belt tensioner replacement day for Scarlet and a mates 1.9 TD Xantia. As I was crawling under the car to undo the bolts for the wheel arch liner, I froze and went into a state of shock. There was an intact undertray!

air con still works spot on but clutch on compresor started to make bit of a noise and i got some red dust coming from it
looking over a net i cant find any info on where to get one
dont want to get 2nd hand compresor...

Sorry, can't help. I've had a similar problem but a reboot solved it. Had to stop the car and shut down for half an hour then it all worked OK. I have the new shape C5 with the latest navi-drive software so it could be different from yours.

Reverse towards your multimeter.

A reading of 'crunch' would indicate they're not working...

I think the rear springs have gone on my Synergie, as the slightest load and the exhaust bangs on the trailing arm and even unloaded, other drivers think my lights are on full beam when they are not. I can't see a break in the springs, but they are very rusty and all the plastic coating has peeled away with quite a bit of metal.

I've bought new...

so best get under there with a torch and see if you can see the top bolt's/heads

hi all, my friends 206 1.1 petrol 1999ish - has failed on CO at idle and revs..

quick thoughts? Partially burnt fuel I am guessing.. plugs, AF .. I guess there could be a few other things that could cause it..?

cant remember what car it was but i fitted a new cat and lambda sensor from E*C*P, the L/S was in a Bosch box ( fake???? ) it still failed the emissions test, so i fitted the original one and the car passed

(2) This area is frequented a bit more often.

I'm trying to track down a knock / ping / crack type noise I have. Its certainly the shock tower area. It will 'ping' if you go to full lock either way a couple of times, it will do it more often than not. For example when I have to turn around in the road...

Yes it has them, bolted to the lower arms. They appear OK though.

I have tried and noticed the noise (which you can do stationary) only seems to occur if the engine is running, ie the power steering pump is energised. I need to confirm this and I suspect its the ram or its mounting / bushes may be the cause if its that, as that's really the only...

My car wont start unless the gas is stepped. Unconnected stepper motor before to test on high idle problem. Now it wont just start. What should i look first?

Reconnect the stepper motor. :wink:

When the throttle butterfly is closed the idle air bypass controlled by the stepper motor is all that will allow the car to run. If the ECU can't operate the idle stepper motor because you've unplugged it it won't start without the throttle being pressed...the ECU opens the idle valve wide during cold starting...

Well I have my new Xantia

1977 2.0I Auto VSX in Emerald Green with Beige leather, aircon and cruise control. Very, very nice condition, needs a couple of bits of paint and of course there are a couple of small jobs to do, but it rides extremely well, and looks new inside. I'm well impressed.

Hello all,
I'm looking to buy a late C5 estate-around 08-09 model year. It will be the 140bhp automatic diesel. I will be using it to tow my caravan which is around 1300kg. Has anyone towed with one of these or had any issues.

I have lexia 436 using it on a C5 MK1 2001.

If I try and access the replacement parts section it says not available on this model like wise fap maintenance is also not available on this model is this normal?

Also I would like to code a radio to replace mine as it is not reading cd's has anyone changed the vin on a second hand radio unit in lexia...

Diagbox won't work with a 2001 C5, early C5's use the Lexia software, later models use Diagbox.

Thanks for the tip as I say couldn't get it load up anyway so never actually tried to connect it to the car just use lexia 436.22.

Xantia 1.8i 2000 Mk2:
Heater blower has no power on red cable at brown connector into motor. I've replaced the resistor, brushes, and relay. The fan/blower works when powered separately.
I have power on fuse 5 but no power on fuse 21.
There is power on Block B in the engine fuse box.

I don't know how to proceed to figure out how to trace the...

This sounds identical to my synergie blower issue, but someone has run a feed from fuse slot 3 to the red wire from the brown plug... with the switch unit unplugged the fan runs on its slowest speed. with the unit plugged in it just stops. Sorry for threads crashing, but my thread is a dead donkey :/

Hi, At Lunch time at work today the back end of my xantia failed to rise :? if anything it had sunk, so I put it up on high to see if it was anything obvious (was fine on the way to work) I noticed that the small plastic bar with a socket (dogbone?) on the end had come un-cliped from the ball to which it seemed it should be attached to, with it...

I realise that, what I was trying to say, which I was not point at this Particular V6 was that the lever in the car wont help free up a BADLY siezed lickage, however, I know that once linkages are nice and free a bit of Citrobics to the up and lowest settings go a way towards keeping them free..

Just out of interest I have been told that driving a C5 with a blocked particle filter can blow the turbo is this correct?

I've seen several PSA group cars that have had blocked DPF's. They've been swapped out and then run at tickover for a couple of hours with black smoke belching out that eventually clears up, we've always put it down to residual carbon/crud in the system from the blockage burning off.

Does anyone know, what freqency the Xantia RF PLIP transmits at..

Heres what Im getting at.. Im trying to repair a RF PLIP, however, Ive no idea if it has worked, does an ordinary radio pick up a transmit interfearance, or will I need a scanner, all I want to know is if the surface mount switch...

Thats what I want to check, Ive resoldered the Lock switch, but because the original board mounted Tracks have been ripped off Ive made little tracks to compenstate.. I want to be sure they are correct, then Ill apply hot stick glue, or simmilar to support the switch so it shouldn't come away again..

hi guys ignition key snapped in ignition,can i get away with getting second hand barrel and transponder or have i got to get it reprogramed

The transponder chip is in the black pivot of the key plipper so you need to
swap that to the replacement lock/lock barrel you fit. Don't forget the
lock in the glovebox as well as the new door locks and I'm pretty sure the
airbag override is generic not key specific.

Had this problem on my Xantia for 2 months if not mistaken , changed a recond throtle body with a full set of sensors and even swap the ecu with my friend's just to check for the cause. It won't be easy for me to hook it onto computer for fault checking as my car need 21 pins instead of 16 and its hard as hell to get that here. So my last bet...

i currently have a 2005 citroen dispatch van with the 1.9 non turbo engine and was wondering if the engine out of my 1.9 turbo diesel zx will fit in the van. if so will i need to swap the gearbox as well. hopefully it will be a straight swap.

Hi,

About a month ago we purchased a C-15 van for my son and did a lot of repairs that needed doing to get it road worthy.

front springs and shocks were replaced amongst other bits and bobs like the rear lights. we didnt replace anthing electrical other than a couple of bulbs.

I bought a used year 2007 C5 and it came with an aftermarket air-intake system. Please refer to the attachment.

I'm wondering whether I should try to find the original airbox to replace it?
Is there a downside of keeping it and I have this feeling that this air-intake system is contributing to the noise.

Hi All,

1995 ZX 1.9D with Lucas pump.

When first starting after a cold night, it seems a bit down on power until I've gone about a mile or so then you can feel it pick up; it's almost as if one injector isn't working although it idles OK after starting. It will only do this after the first start of the day and the rest of the time it's fine....

You may not have one, I think only the later NA units had them or most of the Turbo's. It is safe to disregard my post above about that.

Malcolm was just wanting to make sure you were not running it on veg oil or suchlike instead of regular diesel fuel.

I have to disagree with you Oh Jim, Lord of The Xant..

I think the seats in Rattiva, well worn and tatty though they were, were more comfy than the S1 V6 leather.

I agree Mike, the seats in Rattiva were the exception to the rule - well worn and as comfy as anything. I could never quite figure out why but I guess lots of bums in the 200,000...

im going to change the oil next weekend. ive ordered the oil total quartz 9000 5w 40 and gearbox oil might aswell do that aswell total bv 75w 80 what id like to know is there any differance in oil filters ie main dealer as opposed to say a halfords one or should i just go for the best priced one. or does anyone have a preferance.

I only ever use Citroen branded oil filters. I know Citroen don't make them and there are other companies who offer very good quality filters. However with the Citroen branded ones there is obviously no question over their quality or their internal design.

Hi, my 1995 ZX. just noticed grinding from front near side brakes. checked the front brake pads near side to find, the pad nearest the caliper is on the metal! the other pad good as new. Iam guessing the caliper is stuck. what are my options, is it best to buy a new caliper or is it worth trying to free it ? if so, how? many thanks Terry . #-o

Sounds like it's probably a stuck slider. I had one stick on my old ZX, if I recall if you can get the slider out and it hasn't exchanged too much metal with the caliper you can just give it a good clean, grease them up and reassemble. Otherwise replacements are available as spare parts. Would love to give you more details but I can't remember how...

I would add some giggle juice to it.

Good idea :-D They always said gin and tonic was a good prophylactic against malaria. There was always a lot of debate whether it was the quinine in the tonic that did the trick or the alcohol that killed the malaria.

Best not to take a chance really so it was advised to drink neither gin nor tonic neat but...
