C5 Air Con problem Facelift model

Post by citroenxm »

Hi all..

Mums C5 had the air con all checked out and regassed yesterday.. however today its still not cold. The compressor still kicks in and lexia reports good gas levels.

However, lexia also reports a sensor fault. Does anyone know what PRECISELY it means..

The error reports: Passenger Comparment Humidity Sensor not Defined

Anyone know what or how to sort it? Does it mean its buggered???

Thanks

To be precise, it means that the Passenger compartment humidity sensor is not defined.

The humidity sensor I believe is the one that sits behind the little grille on the dashboard just to the top right of the glove box lid. If lexia is saying it is undefined it sounds like it has either failed completely or the connector may have come off.

If you remove the glovebox you will be able to get at the back of the sensor to feel if the connector is loose or has come off. Glovebox removal isn't difficult, 8 or 10 torx screws from memory.

Check the mixer flaps Paul, they are the most common issue. Is it dual or single zone climate?

Single Zone.

Lexia reported the Sensor Will. I did an actuator test on the flaps they all moved ok, from what I could hear.

Flaps are a dash out job are they not?

Nope but the actuator test is a false positive, the motors will still move unless they fail but the flaps can fall apart inside and the temp won't adjust.

Dash out job is a possible but I'm doing the cutting method, well my dad is :)

Dont think theres a flap problem for two reasons.. the temp still goes to hot when max temp is set.. and back to cool when cold.. and secodly despite having full refrideiant the air con pipe under the bonnet that feeds the evaporator does NOT go cold.. even though the compressor is on. But I assume what ever the setting in the car if the compressor is running the cooling pipe should still get almost ice cold.. so im not sure whats going on..

Are you checking the feed pipe from the receiver to the evaporator or the return from the evaporator to the compressor? The return pipe is the one that should be cold.

If the clutch is pulling in, and the centre is spinning, and there is gas in the system, but no cold, then my guess is the compressor is shot - either the drive is broken, or it's knackered internally.

My Mrs' C5 II VTR petrol had this fault. The part number for her DUAL zone system was 06445VC and was described as 'Sensor Hygrometer'.

It has several functions and was not cheap, about £50 incl. VAT from the dealers at the time (a few years ago).

Paul

It's under Electric Unit>heating / air conditioning > Regulator housing and probes

The part No triumphtoledo posted looks right and appears common to all cars, and dealer price is £50.69 INC VAT
