Hi guys,
My 1.6hdi is leaking diesel from the back of the engine, more precisely near to the cam carrier gasket.
My mechanic did not find out what is should be.
Anyone had a such horrible experience like that?
you can see the video on the link bellow.
Thank you all...

In view of the fact that the engine is running evenly I would assume that the leak is coming from the common rail circuit rather than an injector. Its difficult to see where its coming from in the video. If it is, it will be at very high pressure so don't get your hand near it, you need to move a piece of wood or something around in the area and see if it will spray directly on to it.

I second that.
The smoke/steam in the video is probably diesel spray and it may not be an easy one to find, as you might need it running to make it visible, but it won't run if you remove all the obstructions, so you can see down there.
Good luck with it

I would suggest that, unless you are familiar with HDi systems, you leave well alone & get a competent mechanic to undertake the analysis & repair of the problem. He will have the right equipment to check for the location of the leak, its repair & testing.
If you place any part of your body near the direct spray, there is a risk of death as the fuel is pressurized sufficient for it to penetrate through your skin. Once in your system, it will KILL you, there is NO medication to nullify its effects on your body. Please heed this as a warning. Messing with HDi & HPi systems is DANGEROUS.

Re: 1.6hdi diesel - leaking fuel from the engine
If what I have read on the forum is correct, the diesel (on an HDi engine) is pressurised to 200bar (900psi), and (if what I have read elsewhere is also correct) it only takes 30psi to inject fluids directly through the skin (lower through more permeable surfaces such as nasal passages).

No, both wrong Min injection pressure is 300 bar at idle, rising to 2000 (yes, two THOUSAND) bar (29,000 psi) at full loadnorthern_mike wrote:I think you mean 2900 psi James!Hell Razor5543 wrote:If what I have read on the forum is correct, the diesel (on an HDi engine) is pressurised to 200bar (900psi)

Hi guys,
Thank you for the replies.
I will change the high pressure pipes and the common rail.
Does anybody knows if there is a fuel pipe return?
Thank you.
Bob
