Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hi, our 02 C5 hatch has recently started opening the boot when you unlock the car. It doesn`t seem to matter whether you unlock with the key, the fob or the button inside - it always pops the boot.

Hi,
Well here I go again.
The misses came in tonight and the car is running rough with a misfire & the engine management light is flashing. The car is still drivable but it's obviously down on power. The car has had a slight hesitation lately when the engine is cold but this was intermittant so we just put that down to the damp & cold weather....

Thanks for the replies.

Went out this morning turned the key and it started up straight away with no rough running and no engine management light.

Whipped the plugs out for a look and they all looked fine, I'll get a new set anyway and stick them in when I get a chance.

Took the car for a run to get it up to temperature to see if the fault...

Was driving on highway at night, a car in front of me suddenly shifted to right lane to avoid a really slow car, and the car was really really slow and I tried to brake but locked my wheels and boom.. :cry: But it was really my fault for being careless. :roll:

Any one know the coolant capacity for my 2008 2.0 hdi Tourer ? I cannot find it in my handbook.

It had the clutch and main seal replaced under warranty a couple of years since and when it came back it had the greeny blue stuff in so its time to change it.

Is it bottom hose off as I cannot see any drain points on engine or radiator.

**UPDATE**

found a leak and discovered the whole suspension fluid had been drained! i fixed the damaged pipe, and using one of the eezibleed tools onclick= window.open(this.href);return false; was able to replace the fluid and flush the whole system through. ever since the car had stopped rapping!!

I removed and cleaned my injectors over the weekend and was surprised to find quite a difference between them.
No 4 the nearest was nice and clean with just a hint of buildup around the injector holes which I cleaned off with a soft brass brush.
Nos 2 and 3 Were covered in oil from the guide to the firewasher and had a small amount of wet carbon...

I have a 2005 facelift C5 hdi estate 138 (no sport switch) and the ride feels very, very soft. When travelling slowly over pot holes or bumps it feels like you're in a rowing boat on a choppy sea! The movement seems to be sideways not front to back. Also there seems to be a fair amount of body roll on roundabouts etc. I topped the suspension...

I am considering an EGS C4 as a replacement for my Xantia V6 (am I mad?) and have booked an extended test drive in one for next week. The dealer assures me that early bugs in the gearbox have been ironed out and that the face-lifted post 2010 versions are fine (but then he would say that). Has anyone got an experience of these cars they would care...

The EGS uses the normal box with a clutch and gear change actuator - and a 'brain' :lol: So it only engages the clutch when you give it a bit of gas - and on a C4 Pic at least there's no handbrake to work against (although there is hill hold, but I'm not sure how steep it has to be before it engages - and you have to press the brake before it...

Bought an 06 C5 2.0 HDI Exclusive 3 weeks ago. Great ride, but it seems to tramp at the rear on less-than-perfect roads - unevenness not damped as I would expect.
No trouble with the suspension on the 1.6 HDI I had previously, thought I'd left these problems behind after my Xantia days.

I've bought a set of exclusive door panels to fit to my series 1 Xantia. I'm sure I read that they fitted but you have to drill a hole in the door somewhere.

Can someone please enlighten me as to where the hole has to be drilled and what screw it holds please?

My son recently bought a C4 2.0 16v Diesel 2004 with 66k on the clock.

In the morning when it has been standing overnight it starts on 3 cylinders and runs like that for 10 to 15 seconds and then it is ok although it is using a lot of fuel (low to mid forties at 70). When he first got it it was much longer (>30 secs) before it ran on 4 and we put...

Having now taken the V6 off the market and using her as a daily car again I encountered an odd fault with it today. On researching the forum i note that others have had similar issues.

Hello guys,

Can someone tell me where the well known leak ... is coming from, for certain is not from the boot floor as I took off the matt to dry it off and there is no hole etc ... everything is very clean.
The water seems to gather on the inside of the rubber as you look the car from the rear bottom right section and it seems to be coming from...

Last night driving home, 1/4 mile from home I was finding I was rolling to a stop with my foot to the floor on the brake pedal, when I got home there was a smell coming from the brakes, as if they were really hot, not gone out to check them this morning yet, so hoping there are no big issues now they have cooled down.

My money is on a seized hand brake cable on the front, causing the brake to bind, followed by boiling the fluid in the caliper. I fitted a new aftermarket rear silencer and its the Estate version and its the estate silencer that arrived so that was good.

Under load eg hill starts the outlet pipe at the end of the silencer rattles against the tow bar cross member bolted to the original cross member. A mate suggested reinforcing the rubber hanger(s) with cable ties to stop...

Sorted. Interesting - the rear hanger bracket welded on the silencer was lower than the previous one. The angle it was at made it lower it again. I heated up the bracket and bent it with a lump hammer and that easily added an inch of clearance. Job done no rattles. Hello,

I have seen many variation regarding the BSI Reset procedure. In every case it is never explained what to do with the Side, (Some say Head), Lights, after they have been switched on through the Driver's Window.

My question is: Do I switch the Lights Off Before I start the Engine, or do I start the Engine whilst leaving the Lights On?...

When I push the steering wheel up and down in my Xantia I can feel that it rattles a bit in the steering wheel column. Looking at Citroen service I cannot find any bush (as it was in the BX ) . Is it a way to eliminate this ?

I don't think there is a replaceable bush in the Xantia.

There isn't :( The bearing, such as it is, is built into the outer casing of the column and is not a replaceable item. best to source a good column with a good bearing in it...

I'm sure, once this becomes a real problem, a workaround will be found... Have lathe, will make one...

This engine doesent have an oxygen sensor but some modern diesels (including the new C5) do have them.

It's a lot easier with a wind back tool! There are loads of kits on e-bay from about £15 upwards that have a variety of adaptors. You need one with Right and left hand threads for the C5.

Well.... The turbo of my car has started to leak a little bit of oil :cry: I think a little drop per day.

The car has 84.000 miles. My way of handling the car is very quiet. The car is still standart. It not had any modifications!!

Some friends told me that it can be repaired if it is done...

ive had exactly the same problem on my 2005 dispatch. it turned out to be no power to the stop solenoid. the solenoid is protected with a gaurd but coming out there was three wires i connected power the the yellow one and it started up

Long story short fitted replacement 40k engine from 607 complete with turbo and injectors.

No fault codes but engine rocks as if or misfiring at approx 3100 revs. Leak off test done on injectors and all seem fine any ideas folks?

All air pipes seem to be in the right place, swirl flaps open up at approx 2k revs.

Still no further forward but I did get a unblock diesel filter on the display. The filter is new and was full of fuel, I have spare filter housing so will chang it tomorrow and see if any change.

I'm idly looking at some photos of a Xantia diesel for sale, and intrigued by one of the dashboard

The airbag and foglights indications are on, so obviously the ignition is. The RPM shown is off the top of scale, at about where 7000 would be if it went that far, or where a clock hour hand would be at about 5.30.

Has anyone seen or heard of...

It's a very common problem Andy... It's caused by trying to start the engine with the battery in a low state of charge...

The needle needs to be mechanically nudged back to zero but normally it results in no lasting harm.

There's a few threads on here explaining the various methods of doing it...

If you can find out what the ABS ECU is (make, model, etc.) than it is possible to find out what the pins do on the connector. If it is the same as either of the ones fitted to Xantias, you can then just use a multimeter (and the diagrams I posted earlier in the thread) to find out the resistances of the sensors.

I have a headache here. My year 2007 C5 would give out exhaust smell inside the car when driving hard or running quickly to 4K RPM. If I run beyond 180Km/h, It will give rotten egg smell intermittently. I used internal air circulation so it should not have let in the fumes from the outside.

Hi all,

Strange, I just realized that if I switch off the Fan to “OFF”(Air-con off), I will not get exhaust smell in the car at all.

So I can now rule out tailgate seal and spark plugs issues. I wonder if it helps to refresh the air-con gas in the car?
