96 Synergie - Make cigarette lighter live without ignition?

Unread post by kenbw2 »

I'd like to make both the front and rear cigarette lighter sockets live without having to have the keys in. I know there's some way to do this with fuses, could anyone advise?

Yes

There is a fuse in the box behind the glovebox (if you've not been there, open glovebox, push tabs at each end inwards, lower and lift out, no tools needed, then stick finger in the hole and pull out the thin plastic panel that covers the fuses, but you probably know that bit already.)

One if the fuses, I think its number 16, has 2 possible positions alongside each other, just put it in the alternative position and all will be well.

Juts checked a very old manual, in French. "Allume cigars AV et AR" looks like front and rear cigarette lighter, it is #16, on the far right of the box (but might be far left in the UK one)

Thanks Richard, I often wondered if that was possible in the Xpic,..........?

Beware using a piece of equipment that WILL drain the battery, although that mod WOULD be handy for using one of those solar panel battery "chargers"

I made up a lead, using a pair of maplin clips, cigar lighter plug, one fuse and a diode for charging my spare 12 volt equipment batteries while driving around.
