Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Can someone who has access to service citroen have a quick look and see how much damage im looking at for one of the leakoff pipes for the passenger side front for a 2002 HDi90 LX hatchback manual please?

Well got the part and there is a clip/metal tie wrap that is £4+ but im going to try and take it off gentley first and see if it can come away as im sure i have the right tool to get the thing back on. Other than that the fella said that a tie wrap can do just as good a job :)

The orignal one was still in there was black and had mould growing on it...

Needs less to say all cleaned out and a hell of a lot nicer smell in car and teh fans now work as they should.

Well, I was going to disable cruise control and remove the stalk, to see if my fiddlings with that had had any effect on the airbag and horn. I found it in the BSI, but when I went to save the settings, Lexia asked me for a 4 digit code to authorise writing to the BSI.

Why block it with a code at all if you still need Lexia hardware to use it, the code is the same for all cars, and it seems to be widely known...
I remember reading about this, it was supposed to be selected people (or person) at the dealership that would have the code, so the front monkeys...

As per title, I hear there can be issues when connecting the steering wheel controls up unless you have the right adaptor/head unit. Will a unit from a Saxo or similar fit?

Here's my short story;

My 2002 C5 HDi Auto used to ride like a magic carpet........... I then needed 2 new tyres for the front wheels and had E-Tyres come out and fit 2 new tyres for £126.

So I use Kwik Fit on Balby Road Doncaster, I always take it as a loose wheel and leave it with them for 2 or 3 hours but its always done when I return, done well and they are happy to do the job.

Has any one ever changed these on a C5 for a second hand set? The auto lighting switch is not working and memsaab says can you not fix it lol

I have another C5 sitting here but on reading the haynes it says the switches can not be changed individually the whole switch head unit has to be replaced and re programed as it contains the steering...

can anyone please offer any advice on the best way to do the rear pads on a c5 mk3? Are there any pitfalls - how to disconnect the handbrake cable, which way to wind back the pistons, is the handbrake self adjusting when I put it back together or do I have to adjust in the first place?

What price should I be looking to pay, and what realistic mpg could I expect to receive.

Rear axle faults.. being the rear wheels lean in and rub the arch on the inner side is a common xsara 206 and 306 with trailing arm suspension issue.. be wary.. easyer to replace the whole thing but the axles seem to be in short supply so is common. They arent as easy as xantia / bx arms to refurb if they have gone too far.

Check heater matrix...

I know my front breaks are rubbish. Because they are near the limit and the light kept coming on. So i put some tape over the wire to stop the light from coming on lol.
But when i break now. Im sure the back breaks are rubbing. Sort of like a granding sound. Then when i take my fot off the break. The sounds is still there for a couple of seconds...

What gear are you in trying to pull from 1000-1200rpm? My 2.2 will just about pull 1200rpm in third but only if you gently coax the speed up, if you try to accelerate normally it will judder and protest.

Hi

Just had the C5 (2.0 VTR) mot'd and they say the front pads need replacing, the rear ones will need doing soon. Does anyone know if it's the same process on the mk3 as it was on the mk2 to replace them or are there some other pitfalls to look out for?

Hi all
Does anyone know if the Xenon headlights on a 2002 C5 are adjustable for LHD?
I am taking the C5 to France (I bought it for my dad) and he needs to register it over there so it will need a French CT test but it has UK spec headlights on it, had a look around for LHD xenons but cannot find any.
Failing that, can I just swap the Xenons for...

Hi, I've just received a shiny new spare key with transponder for my C5 from Patrick at Carkey help but for it to work I believe it has to be coded. Is anyone free to help do the 'lexia thing' and program the key to the car? Is this a lengthy process?

I love my 2001 HDi Xantia to bits, it's comfortable and lovely to drive, very economical too.... I just can't help thinking about how much cheaper to run an older XUD engined Xantia would be if it were run on waste veg oil, something an HDi engine just can't do.

hello, went to drive home from work, rear of car raised but front was slow or didnt. drove down ramp out of carpark with a left turn at same time the dash board lit up suspension fault dont go above 55 ( although it let me ) to get home. checked fuses, disconected battery for a bit, checked brakes.

just done the front and rear brakes. replaced front discs and pads and cleaned and greased where required all ok when tested.

rear removed and scrapped calipers and discs { what a b******d of a job to remove both sheared bolts on nearside} cleaned corrosion from normal place fitted new calipers with gasket and silicon grease new discs fitted and...

carried out bleeding the brakes today used three litres of fluid loads of air in the system used a gunsons easy bleed so brake peddle never moved during the the process but thanks for the advice. brakes are firm to press now just a very slight spongy feel due to pads still bedding in. thanks to myglaren and gibbo for there input.

So I've done the easy bit and got myself a new heater matrix. Have to go and fit it now. Any tips? Do I just start stripping everything from the centre of the dash till I find it or what?

Hi, I've a new foam on the way for Fiat Ulysse (C8 Pug 807 in disguise) as the old driver's side one is saggy. It's only the seat squab, not the backrest. I'm assuming that the foam is glued (or sprayed) onto the sear cloth. Has anyone any experience of doing this? TIA!

Trying to understand why my lexia has not communicated with either the suspension or the multifunction screen RT3 ECUs.

So, I've taken the step of dismantling the 16 pin connector, upon the advice of some who have noted the Chinese clones can have poorly fitting connectors or been sloppily assembled.

my friends P reg TD XANT sound like a bog of nails as reported in onther posts regarding the lift sensor,

the loom plug going to the sensor is two pin as we all know, but there are three wires in the loom plug, one being an earth, which pin dose this piggy back onto as its floating around not connected, pin No. 1 or 2 and could this cause the bag...

Hi guys, changed the front brake pads yesterday and noticed the front brake flexi hoses have started to crack. Have got new ones on order from AEP as local shop can't get them. Changed the rear suspension spheres too,thanks for the super guide!

The join to the caliper looks standard but where it joins onto the metal brake pipe looks a bit funny....

On very, very stubborn ones I've found the tool in the picture below very effective as it will grip the 12mm hex in its jaws almost perfectly...

hi all, new to the board and looking for help....just bought a c2 on a 54 plate but headlights come on and stay on when i start the car and cannot find out how to turn them off ....took it to a garage and they have no idea either...all other lights do as they should, any help appreciated

I want to change the fuel filter as the car is running rough at idle and I know its not been changed, but on looking at the filter I cannot see how you take the old one off without damaging the fuel pipe !!

I've finally worked out the cause of my Anti-Pollution Fault. It comes on whenever I use the front or rear screen washers! Bizarre. As I think about it, I think the fault first came on as I used the washers in the rain whilst driving down the M40. I remember thinking I don't want want to be stood in the rain waiting for the RAC.

Well still trying to turn off my tyre sensors but can not talk to the computer??? Malcolm kindly sent me the rpo number but when I connect the lexia it reads the vin number and the car model etc but then returns Data from Portal incorrect check your configuration ?? Any one had this and solved it please.

Had a NEW one on me today on a Xantia HDi 110.. Customer informed me of water loss on the drivers side of the engine.. So, today we started the car, and while he was filling it, it was comming out as quick as it went in...

A pipe I thought, so put the car on high, removed he drivers wheel and looked a bit closer. Started the engine...

Had a core plug go on my hdi Xantia a little while ago, think it may be the same one coz i was originally quoted silly money to do the job (exhaust manifold etc off).
garage managed to do it without removing too much in the end and got the price right down!!
Did have to buy a pack of 5 core plugs from main stealer though! but they cost...

Guys as the C5 mk1 keyfob is huge and a pain in the ass to have on your keys.

I have seen others on ebay with a smaller fob are these programmed the same way as when you re sync your old key?

You can get replacement shells with uncut keys, but you're not going to get much of a space saving from that as you need to take the electronics from yours and put it in the new one for it to work... coupled with getting the new key cut, it's probably not worth the investment. Difficulty with the push rod pins but did shift eventually, most annoying problem was the o/s brake pipe fitting, moved in the caliper but 'welded' to the pipe, had to take the caliper off and unscrew it from the pipe, it then fell in half as the fixing bolts hold it together. Hi all, I need to replace the offside inner track rod, carparts4less sell two sizes, 296mm and 330mm. Does anyone know what a 94 td xantia size is? Would the 330 be for a v6 poss?

Well I can happily say that the inner track rod took no more than 10 mins to remove, got a nice big set of stilsons on it and out it came! The droplink took longer to remove as I had to cut the bolt off!

The inner track rod was 330mm,

Hi All

Just spotted my front drive shaft gaiter has got a small hole about 4mm Dia at the small end of the drive shaft. It look like its been knawed at, but looks repairable as its on the small end that doesn't flex that much.

Does anybody know what type of repair patch i could use for this hole ? I suspect a cycle repair patch isn't man...

Normally, the quick and dirty fix is a vac-down, however while this detects stuff like torn O-rings and corrosion holes, it doesn't often detect failing rubber hoses or shaft seals as it pulls the damage tight, sealing it again. The dye - if they added it - will reveal the leaks occurring under pressure (you can buy a cheap UV torch from Fleabay...
