Hi all I have got a problem with my 2005 xsara picasso 2.0 hdi
On start up and shut down I got a nocking noise I have looked over the car and I think the noise is comeing from the rear engine mount but the rubber looks new could this b the drive shaft

You need to be able to look underneath as someone else starts/stops it. It could be the exhaust touching the body somewhere.

Does the knocking noise disappear when you depress the clutch, if so DMF?

The driveshaft does have a centre bearing that can cause knocking when worn. From what you have said I'm not sure thats your cars issue though. Mine have resulted in a knocking under acceleration and a wobbly gearstick when they've let go.

The noise is there when u change gear ie clutch in nock then cluch out nock and if costing in gear nock nock nock
Just been under the car and i think there is a clicking noise from the drive shaft where it passes in the engine mount could this be the problem

Does it sound a bit like a pumping type sound? If it does, then its probably the (camshaft i think) pulley, the one which has the internal bearings which wear out & then it starts to oscillate which causes that sound.

Thanks to all the help found the problem rear engine mount (gave way on the way home) not a way fix to replace just the rubber and not the complete thing

The rubber is available separately from GSF.
BXs since 1993 built 1.9 TZD turbo, got a S2 Xantia estate, brilliant car! 2013, Xantia HDI LX 110 2000 new car with 122,000, l C2 HDI Rusty rocket, C3 Picasso HDI new to me.
