Hello
After owning two standard xantias and reading from this forum that a hydroactive xantia gives even better ride than starndard , I have been thinking about buying one. I am going to use it for daily driving about 200 km a day. It has to be a hdi diesel. I have seen even hdi activas for sale. What do you think, should I buy a simpler hydroactive model or jump right into the activa.

I'm assuming you mean an hdi activa which would indicate to me that you are not uk based, yes? We, unfortunately, never received that combo, being stuck with only a 2.0 tct petrol variance. Hdi + Activa sounds good to me though [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND SMILING EYES]

Re: xantia buying advise
A lot of people would disagree that hydractive gives a better ride than a standard Xantia, to my mind hydractive is like a sports suspension option, very well controlled but a lot stiffer with a firmer ride than a 'normal' Xantia, and a lot more spheres to go flat.
My advice would be to test drive something before you make your decision.

Re: xantia buying advise
hydractive can be better if it works, they just have a third sphere per axle to give additional cushioning and switch to standard strut only spheres when cornering (hence the sporty part). I would suggest you read up on the hydractive differences before buying one, they often don't work because of an ECU fault due overheating transistors due to back emf from the solenoids that switch the third sphere in and out. When they work they are lovely. Of course you have 8 spheres as opposed to 6 or 7. The activa is even more complex still with 10 spheres, and I understand there are discontinued parts in the ram that corrects the roll, but having never had an Activa someone else will be along with a better opinion. Personally I'd buy a normal non hydractive Xantia next time (I've had two hydractive ones, and both needed the ECU fix).

This ECU fix you speak of, is that the diode mod/E Crofting mod?
