Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

So I took a look at the strut tops the other day. Driver's side seems to be alright, no obvious perishing, no rust etc. Passenger's side on the other hand is a different story; the rubber on the inside at the top is cracking slightly, the rubber coating the outside bottom plate can be peeled back revealing rusty metal that you can pick off with a...

Strut tops only need replacing because they rot. There's absolutely no sensible reason to replace a (reasonably) sound one - particularly when they're so expensive!

It's not a long or difficult job, just messy (avoid compressing the strut).

Hi guys,

I have got a Citroen C5 X7 2010. Front airbags deployed and had to replace the whole dashboard and driver's airbags. With the airbag set I bought I was given a new clear airbag module. After fitting everything I tried to remove all errors what was successful however the airbag fault error keeps coming back straight after the ignition on....

hi all i'll be changing the fuel filter on my 2010 c3 pic soon during its service i've heard they can be a bit of a pain to start afterwards i've heard there is a bleed screw on the filter is this true ? also is there anywhere else i can bleed the system from and also any tips would be great

What engine? 1.6 HDi probably....

I've changed one on a C4 Picasso - there's no bleed screw as such. I think Lighty sometimes removes the return fuel line to make it a bit easier to fill the filter. Just keep pumping the primer till you stop hearing the air re-entering the fuel tank. Takes a while....

My trusty C5 has completed it's last Journey :(

I have owned it for 3 years and while it's had problems for a car of that age it's been the best car I have owned :lol:

The multi belt snapped last weekend and while at my local Citroen specialist I was given the news that the rear bearing was knackered.I was quoted £400 to replace both bearing...

Yes, the question of rot occurred to me when I discovered this problem.
However, it seems to be well protected, somehow - no early signs of rot, on a 14 year old.

I think cleaning it out should be part of yearly maintenance though, with a due care and a fast water jet perhaps. Otherwise the guards would need removing to use a...

As reported in the thread about Citroen plastics, which got a bit off topic, Cit failed her NCT on (among other things) the bottom wishbone bushings.
I ordered them and was surprised to hear they were available for immediate delivery.
I was less pleased to find, on inspection of the contents, that one of the sided ones had been mis-packaged, so...

Cit gave me her exhaust to fix, with no trouble at all. Clamp at the front of the box is a single 16mm (5/8 ) nut and undid easily.
Then the three rubbers, which come away from the body hangers with little difficulty and that's it.
I found a pin hole in the pipe, between the joint and box, which must be the leak he referred to. Funny there was...

Need some advice from the gurus on the forum.
My 2008 C5 Tourer started leaking fluid. I took it to the nearest dealership in Exeter.
They have reported back leaks from the power steering feed and return pipes and one of the suspension struts.
They are recommending replacing both struts and the whole job will cost £1300 inc VAT.

Dooing a Lexia session on a C5 HDi 8v 2.0, going in to the ECU came back with ECU Not Recognised however I can still go in and read the faults ETC. Though theres a warning that tests and faults may NOT be correct!

Anyone know why Lexia cannot recognise the ECU?? Thanks

I have been told by the owner that the ECU has had a Software upgrade so I beleve this is why it wont read it. My Lexia still erased faults though and put the Engine/Service light out, owner happy fellow now!

as title says, I am fed up... ,
the alarm is working, all the doors lock and all the windows are closed etc.
Bonnet closed
Boot closed
even fuel flap is closed.

When I try to lock it, a beep from the alarm horn comes on ... I know this noise is made when a door is not closed properly. .. but I opened and closed everything 2 and 3 times...

hi c5 2002 hdi hand brake sticking on on one side ive removed the hand brake cable and freed of the hand brake lever on the caliper using duck oil the lever was not returning freed it of its lasted two weeks and started sticking again is there any way to get in to the hand brake mechanism thanks

Are you sure its not the cable that's sticking? If it is work some oil into it and saturate any cracks there are in the outer cover.

I removed these CD changer leads from an XM I'm breaking, but does anybody recognise what unit they would fit? The head unit was missing, as was the changer.

The flat square one was what fitted into the back of the head unit, the other two are the other end of the lead and an extension that went into the boot area.

Good evening fellow Citroenist's

Hope we are all keeping well, ive got a slight issue with my brothers rather rubbish C5, the issue is ive got to fix it :? and looking at the MK1 C5 hurts my eyes, it may turn me to stone its that ugly. Ok enough messing around then.

Two months ago it killed its battery overnight, not even enough juice 12hrs...

It is FBW. The cable operates a potentiometer that the indirectly operates a stepper motor.
My cable was also slack on this C5, among other things it caused very disappointing performance.
Adjusting that made a tremendous improvement.

I'm having problems getting my Citroendocbackup to open. After the usual few minutes of it loading it then comes up with this error message

this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or if one exists create an association

Seadrebackup works fine.

Any ideas?

I am however feeling very smug-I've fixed it! woohoo! turns out the issues with not loading webpages from email links and Citroendocbackup were connected. I restored whole computer to a point about 3 weeks ago before it started playing up and bingo! works like a charm :-D...

not rearly you can just ease the N/S/F corner away from the box cables conect into,this quite a simple job once you work out how the cables are attached inside the box regards malcolm

Thanks Mandrake, but I think I sussed it out....it now appears to fit but I had to trim off some of the rubber flexy gasket at the adjustable bit...probably me just being a novice.
Fingers crossed now good enough to get through the MOT, well after I've done both suspension arms and antiroll bars...at least the sun is shining today :)

This might be the cheapest way to get you home, taxed and tested and very simple. It's the second listing so could probably get the price down a bit. Might need to get that doseur valve sorted though.

I posted recently asking about the E crofting diode mod in an attempt to cure an intermittent harsh ride. Tantalisingly the car would sometimes be super super smooth and then the next minute become very harsh, particularly over drain covers, broken surfaces etc.

Oh my where to start.. Ok i have a 54 plate Xsara Picasso Desire 2L HDI with 362504 miles on the clock i have had her from new and shes still full of beans.. However the road gods have not been nice to my girl in the last month..

Rang up GT to ask for a poly v belt and was asked whether I had a Sanden or Delphi compressor, how do I find out which one is fitted and where is it located.

I've got a 1735mm belt fitted at takeover, which spells a Sanden, but I don't trust what's given. I can't recognise the compressor from the label - it's a thin band and quite worn. I can tell from the label, capacity is 9 fl oz. it has in bold 5290 on the label

My auto gearbox has been slipping a bit between 1st and 2nd gear so I took my car to a Citroen garage who tried and failed to read any diagnostics from the Transmission Control Unit... ECU version not supported error :(

The throttle position sensor on a c8 is fastened to the wiper mechanism under the scuttle panel. A diesel does not have a throttle flap, and the faulty device is just a potentiometer that relays information from the cable inputs to the engine ECU .You would just replace it with another unit, but I doubt it will cause your clutch slipping issue.

does anyone know if it is possible to stop the full length electric sun roof flapping on an S reg Berlingo,

i drove this one to the MOT yesterday and it flaps all the time whilst driving it along,

maybe not shutting tight enough???????

No experience of Berlingo specifically but you sometimes find that opening a rear window a little will stop all sorts of sunroof booming and flapping. But, the open window gives some road and wind noise so you have to choose the lesser of two evils.

I wonder what would happen if you turned the heater off altogether as a trial. The volume of air...

Hi,

I've been having issues with the rear wiper on my S2 (1998, 1.9TD) estate firstly becoming intermittent, and now not doing anything what so ever.

I've checked the blue relay that is part of the wiper motor assembly, and that has been re-soldered and looks good. I've also checked all the cables at the boot door joint, and they are all ok...

Had a bit of an oh bother moment on the way to work as manoeuvring off the drive the bumper caught the edge of the fence which juts out and pulled it off.

Can someone with more skill with citroen service tell me the part number of the studs, or post a copy of the repair of them (which is in the subscriber section)?

As my usual technical consultant isn't available, can anyone tell me what to use to reseal the sump (XUDT9) please?

The original sealant was about 2mm thick and grey in colour. It looked as if a bead was applied and the sump quickly tightened down (or should that be up?) until the gap was 2mm(?), then allowed to set before the bolts were...

I've worked out the reason: VSXs have a different instrument cluster with an oil temperature gauge - so all XUD sumps had a hole for a temperature sender. Made production control much easier to just replace the dummy sender with a real (and more expensive) one for cars with an oil temperature gauge.

The Green Lady is up and running again after a major engine strip-down revealed no obvious damage. Jim was right, the XUD9 is incredibly robust - the cambelt had jumped one (crankshaft) tooth and the horrendous noise (like a big-end gone) was nothing worse than No 1 inlet valve just touching the piston crown (the other 3 were just visibly kissing...

Hello guys,

Just picked up a C3 1.4HDi 92hp ... a really nice little car, spacious and comfy to drive.
It has a few problems, need your opinion on possible causes.
There is no service history on the car what so ever.

It has 111.000miles on the clock.

It has difficulty starting...
Once it starts it works fine on idle, no smoke or anything...

Hi,
Northampton radio reported at lunch time 28/03/2014 that Citroen C4's and Peugeot 208's
Are being recalled by PSa because of a fire risk/insecure fuel lines.
apparently they didn't do up the fuel line clamps properly in the factory.
They didn't specify which models so probably a good idea to contact
your dealership.
