Baffled by Lexia! New dumbass question?

I am trying to sync a central locking remote or two to my car.

But I can't find on LEXIA where to do it?

Please save my Lexia from he infamous 4lb hammer......

If the key is already coded to the immobiliser then no need for Lexia to synch the remote - just turn the igniton on with the relevant key, and then press (and possibly hold) the lock button.

If they key is not coded to the immobiliser, then you will need to do that first. You need all the keys you want to be active - any that are not already coded need to be new or have new chips in them, you cannot re-code a second hand key - and the 4 digit security code.

Assuming it's the same as a C4 Picasso....

Plug in the interface, select Diagbox, fault finding and let it do a global scan. Go into the BSI, and then select 'Pack reparation'. You should then be presented with an option that makes sense for key coding. Select this and then follow the on-screen instructions to input the code and then code the keys in turn. Note when it asks how many this is the total number (including current keys) that you want to be active. It will take you through synching the remote functions as part of the coding process.

I have only one key for the old bus so I bought a pair of fobs, lock set and locking fuel cap from the Bay of Evil.

Said fobs now have virgin chips installed Be nice to have just one key for everything again!

OK, I had got the impression that it was due to your battle with Lexia. Perhaps not the easiest way to get a second key...

Probably a case of doing things the hard way but then I always was too dumb to know when I'm beaten and too stubborn to admit it!

I take it to pair a fob it needs to be in the ignition with said ignition turned on?

If you've got the code get a locksmith to do it, many of them have got all the necessary kit nowadays.

Is it possible to disable the remote unlocking on LEXIA? And, if so, how?

The car has just one key coded to her and does not accept the remote pairing procedure,

More importantly, how do I program the old bus or accept the remotes?!?!?

Are you trying to get the original remote working or have you paired a new one and it won't work?

It's possible that the remote is broken and not transmitting (or the battery is flat!). I think you can check this in Lexia, but not sure how.

Pairing the remote doesn't need Lexia, if it's the same as others, you just switch on and press (and possibly hold) the lock (or possibly unlock) button on the fob. The car may or may not respond somehow (beep or similar) but you should then be able to lock the car with the remote afterwards. When you code a key to the immobiliser it includes this step in the procedure, but the Lexia doesn't actively do anything AFAIK.

Lexia gives instructions to pair the new remote but following the instructions produces no result. IIRC Lexia tells me that the central locking mode is 02. Is this "remotes off?" Would changing the code to 01 produce the required result? Or would that cause more problems elsewhere?

As you can tell, I am new to this computer diagnosis lark, preferring to use ears, hands and a large hammer!

so ive been told the fobs cant be reprogramed to other cars, the immobiliser is as above but on c5's it seems you cant just go to a scrappy and steal the remote from another car and reprogram it, I remember there being a post on here somewhere about it, seems when the fobs are virgin when they are first progammed it is a program once and that's it, you can resync them using the instructions on lexia but cant program used ones from another car onto your car,,,,

Not quite true. Yes you can't reprogram a key but if you put a new virgin chip in to the key part (do not confuse this with the car lock/unlock buttons and circuitry) then this can then be programmed to the car.

I can't remember then the name of the chip. One search I've just done has come up with ID46 and ID47 but that's not the name that's printed on the chip itself.
