Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hi There,

I have my C5 2.2HDi Auto, model 2001.
I just bought it in January2014.

it has been great all these while except from last few weeks.
1. the starter motor was spoiled, had to change it to new. Now works fine. FIXED.

Don't know how or why it's happend we was shorting out the cooling fan sender unit. To see if the other fan worked the car cut out but started fine drove home noticed the reponse was low at 2k Reves ok as soon as it goes up to 3k reves it was sluggish was putting my foot hard down in every gear nothing I had that car on hot summers day 3rd gear...

all the visible linkage is is a very short plate of steel with a hole at each end fitted with a grommet in each hole,

the grommets tend to break up in time, or the rubber bush's in the gear stick guide tube have disintegrated/worn out,

just fitted to my 2.2hdi 2002 plate new rear hydrolic ram and boot as the old one was leaking, it has the Hydractive hydraulic suspension 3+... front will rise perfect and rear will not rise , but will rise if i put the trolley jack under the back and give it a help and it will stay there, once i put it down it goes to the floor and stays there,,...

Hi folks. Is there a trick to the remote locking after changing the fob battery? Have to lock manually which is a pain cos the lock is a bit old and worn.

By the way how does the electrickery work? Doesn't need the fob battery for the fuel pump solenoid/ immobiliser?!

To program a Series 2 Xantia remote fob you'll need access to a Lexia and the four character confidential code that originally came on a credit card with the owners manual. (If not the code can be obtained for a fee from Citroen or elsewhere)

If you have those its only 5 minutes work to program the keys and fobs for someone who has done it before.

Sorting through the biuts salvaged from the VSX, I decided to separate the EPIC and Hydractive ECUs from their common mounting plate. Curious as to why the latter rattled, I opened it up: rattling around in the case was a Motorola MR2535S that has quite clearly got hot enough to flow the solder and fall off the PCB! :shock:

If not, I had similar with all sorts of odd messages. In my case it was sort of battery related but BSI unit. It appears the garage did some work and simply switched off, popped the bonnet, disconnected the battery. Did the work and reconnected and the BSI ECU did not like it.

Has any one used any fuel additive/cleaner to clean the turbo (forte turbo cleaner/other brands), As I only use the car locally it is never running for more than 10-15 mins. I'll have just covered 3400 miles come sept 1st year of owning the beaut.

Any turbo/egr cleaners that work better than forte for the xantia hdi 110's?

Running google translate on some polish google hits for that number leads to pug 406 comfort module , which again makes some sense for central locking/auto-window roll/alarm etc.

Hi - does anyone have any ideas on tightening up the leather on the drivers front seat. All others look fine and taut but on my 6 year old C5 the drivers one appears a bit loose although it has only covered 36k since new. Also a big up for Citroen Redditch who I brought the car from under the Citroen Select scheme - had a few sat nav screen issues...

Leather furniture restorers use heat guns I believe. They get the leather really hot with a thing that looks like one of those paint stripper guns. Might be worth asking a furniture restorer. If you are doing that, remember that any piping is likely to be plastic, and will melt. Personally, I would live with the leather the way it is, unless...

So i have had my 2004 facelift C5 a year and half now, its up to 75k and runs strong, im slowly going through and improving replacing parts, i need a steering rack soon but i am hoping to get it to feb / mot time to do it - its not bad just has play.

The autel diagnostic tool with psa software will talk to the Suzuki as a Peugeot 806 with the 16 valve or 406 if it has the 8 valve engine. Don't know about the lexia though. The 2.0L 8 valve was fitted from about 2000 to 2002. Then they used the 16 valve up to 2006. All these GVs with the Peugeot engine carry an immobiliser fault code. Seems to...

It's a sealed unit and not amenable to being opened at all :(

It's best replaced. Just be aware it has two delivery ports, one for the front and one for the rear. It runs one way to wash the front and runs in reverse to wash the rear screen.

I would expect it's a standard enough device used across a range of PSA vehicles.

That's usually so, however, I've had experience with my navigation exchange, when I put the RNEG (mwyway) unit in another car, while it still being VIN coded to my car, it worked flawlessly in the second car ... I was really surprised, and didn't find the reason for such behavior, however, I've VIN coded it to the target car just in case ...

I spent most of the day under the rear of the Xantia.. My plan was to replace the 2 rear brake pipes. but as usual I discovered that I'm going to have to replace the long 4.5mm pipe as well 'cause all the unions are rusted in solid.. so it'll be a cut, heat and remove process as with the suspension.

They open faster than any other type of fastener, once you accept they're not reuseable.

2001 Synergie. Can anyone inform me of the location of the front wiper relay? My intermittent part of the cycle doesn't work anymore so think it must be that.

The guy that did the radius arm found that it probably had been removed and put back together not done. He had to do the weld on the bearings to get them off, the plastic tube was mangled which would explain the squeak and the reason for thinking it had been disturbed, there is a spring clip holding some thing on which was severely butchered then...

Hello.

I am currently on holiday in France with my '02 C5 2.2HDi and the starter moter is playing up, and I want to replace it.

I did not, however, bring any TORX tools/bits with me....

Can someone confirm what T-?? TORX bit fits the x3 mounting bolts please, so I can buy one locally.

Had the same happen the other year, also whilst in France. I'd replaced the starter a year or so previously with a cheapie so although that in itself was a waste of time I knew no need for panic when it failed, as Aramsay said quite an easy job, took an oaf like me all of twenty mins. Pricey there though. Gunge on the solenoid too.

i see listed 283mm x 26mm
or 288mm x 28mm

i believe its the slightly larger one, can anyone confirm this ?

Fitted Mtec cross drilled and grooved discs, i figure the car deserves them as it has some of the best most stable braking systems . just beding in but they seem to bite nicely :-) they cost £68 which i thought was reasonable as i was looking at £55 for stock.

Hi guys,

Can some kind soul tell me the size of the sump plug to remove it, is it a box wrench or a torx fitting as it is looking rounded, it is a phase 2 56 plate .

John's right, just checked mine and it's an 8mm hex.

If your's has started to round then you might need to insert a flat blade screwdriver on one of the faces to make it a tight fit.

Also, I would use an 8mm hex bit from a large socket set, not just a normal allen key, that way you have more precise control.

My wife's C3 VTR has had an ESP/ASR fault (code C1310) and the dealer has advised that it is a faluty yaw sensor.

Looking in the manual it is located under the centre console so should be easy to renew.

Does anybody know what I can expect to pay for one at the dealers (or if I can get it anywhere else).

Over the last couple of days my '96 2.0 litre Xantia auto began to need a bit more winding to start. It then began to stall on idle although if I reduced the throttle very gently it would sometimes stay in. Switching off the aircon helped by reducing the load at idle. I have had this problem once before and had a spare Magneti Marelli idle speed...

Hi All,

I've had a bit of an issue with my father's car. I changed the ball joint yesterday and the drive shaft came out of the gearbox and oil went everywhere. I have some oil for this gearbox (Total BV) and I've been trying to find the fill and drain plug for the gearbox, but currently no luck. Has anyone got a picture or anything that can help...

I have a Xantia exclusive the pump went after a150 mile trip to York last week next day dead.got trailered back. Put second hand pump on it on Thursday ran fine Friday Saturday would not start first time but did eventually this morning no go.

Other then the fuel pressure regulator on the end of the pump facing the side of the fuel filter theres nothing in a hp pressure pump to just go like that. The pump pumps fuel at a steady stream its the job of the regulator to control it.

Are you sure its not the fuel tank lift pump being a bit intermittent??

What does PSA supply when you replace the right hand inner apron on one of the many vehicles with the VIN stamped on that section? Is it blank, does it have a cutout or recess for letting in the old pressing, or does it have some sort of replacement part reference?

I think you'd need to be wary that some 2004 cars could be 2005MY but looking at the engine bay is the easiest bet as it will say HDi16 on them :)

I am looking to get a C5 2.0 HDi 16V Auto 2006 (55). The budget would be stretched to get a MK3 2008 or younger. Can anyone offer advice on what to look out for or should I hold out for the 2008 model ?

Always with grabbing the ecu's and the spoiler. Alloys maybe as well, spheres, strut tops if anywhere near decent, the rams, the drivers front suspension strut as this has the mounting plate on it. Rear hubs if bearings aren't too bad and calipers.
