electric boot not working

Post by KennyW »

My electric boot is not opening. It is unlocking but just not opening.

Just want to confirm it will require a ecu reset. At the moment my lexia is not working due to the laptop not functioning correctly.

Will removing the leads completely off the battery and following the reset procedure be suffice.

It might... or it might not! Costs nothing to try though. I can Lexia it if it doesn't work, and you can't get yours going.

If I've left the tailgate open for too long or otherwise allowed the system to go into eco mode (far too often in my opinion) then that happens to me as well. If your does that after a run to reset the eco mode then something is definitely not right. I suspect the BSI also monitors battery voltage as well so if that's on the way out then that could cause the problem even after driving for a while. How old is the battery?

As Richard says, it costs nothing to try the reset procedure. Cross fingers...

I'm sure you are aware Kenny, but just in case - a couple of things to be aware of:
If the tailgate is repeatedly opened and closed in quick succession, the motor can start to overheat and then cut out, preventing opening and closing of the tailgate. Allow the motor to cool down for ten minutes without opening or closing the tailgate. Closing in manual back-up mode remains possible.
and:
You should not assist or manually 'help' the tailgate open when you have pressed the 'Open' button on the tailgate according to the manual.

Thanks for all the replies, It's sort. I suspect my battery is on it's way out. As this was working after I fixed the brake caliper and the dog had been in it.
The car has been parked up for 2 days until I tried to open the boot using the key remote. I suspect it was in economy mode.
