C4 picasso question.

Post by daviemck2006 »

Im sorting out my fleet due to needing autos. Thats why the activa has gone and i have a 205 auto for my fun. However my daily, currently the leon is going to be sold and replaced by an auto. I was very close to buying a c5 v6 auto in london a couple of days ago but decided against it due to probably too high fuel consumption. Im thinking about c4 picasso for a daily due to the higher driving position. I know the 1.6 hdi has the egs semi auto box. Im not really considering a 1.6 I would prefer a 2.0 hdi. All i have seen say suto, not semi auto. Does anyone know id the c4 picasso 2.0hdi have the 6 speed proper auto the same as the c4, c5 or if its the egs semi auto? Theres one in Edinburgh i am keen on, i dont really want to drive 170 miles there to find out its an egs.

I think they're mostly egs - if there's a pic of the dash, egs has a silver selector above the wiper switch with P n a m r on it.

On every one for sale i am checking the photos carefully. Ive only seen one that has a P on the selector, they mostly have R N A M. Im assuming, probably wrongly, that the one car i have seen with the P has a torque converter auto and the hundreds without have the egs semi auto. Ill go try find photos.

I'm sure I read the 2.0 engines only are the ones with std auto but its very confusing.

That seems to be what 99% of them have.

I have found one like this, in Glasgow which is a lovely, well equipped low mileage thing but out of my price range. I'm pretty certain this is the fully auto that i would much rather have. I have a thing against the egs after the c2 sensodrive I had a few years ago. The gearbox spoiled that car.

I did send Kenny a pm about the car in Edinburgh, for some reason I can't get the gumtree ads to link on here.

What I noticed on autotrader in tech specs is egs cars are described as auto manual clutch in "gearbox type" but others are just listed as automatic.

Ive figured out how to tell them apart. Only the 2.0 16v got the fully auto and only some of them. Emissions figures. The egs is 159 and the fully auto is 195. I know that makes dearer road tax for my preferred option, i dont care! One small perk of being registered disabled lol

Ive just replied Kenny. My interest in that particular car is now nil. It has the semi auto that I am not buying. I am in no hurry, and am only going to buy a 2.0hdi fully auto, either a c4 picasso, a c4 saloon, a c5 or a peugeot 407.
