Upgrading my trusty Citroen!

Unread post by HelenQueen »

Afternoon all!

As you can see from my bio, I've only ever driven Citroens. I think they are fantastic cars!

However, I've only ever driven the small cars, and now I want to get a bigger one ready for my family. I want to stay within the Citroen family, so I need some help.

I've found a Citroen 62 Plate C3 Picasso HDi 8v Exclusive 5dr 71k for £5,500 is that good value for money? My old cars have all be hand-me-downs so to speak, so I've always got a good deal - so real world prices are very foreign to me.

Any help is much appreciated! Thanks!

? bigger one ready for my family ?

Choose a car by looking at the NCap score.

For that budget I would look for a good C5x7 Tourer, very good NCap score, great engine and a MASSIVE boot........added plus that you get the HA3+ suspension.
The value of the "last of the Real Citroen's" will also not drop like a stone (probably) unlike cars such as the C3....they are much looked for and sell quickly to Citroen fans as they know there will never be another.

The C3 Picasso is a great little car, the later ones have a 5 star NCAP rating, and they're deceptively huge inside, despite being shorter than my Meriva. They also score highly on the JD Power reliability survey, which is a change for a Citroen [emoji14]

For an easy-to-park in town, economical, spacious vehicle, I'd choose one any time over C5. There's also the obvious - it's unlikely to leave you a bankruptcy inducing suspension failure or such like.

Also, looking at used values, they seem to be that curious breed of Citroen, much like the earlier Berlingo that hold their values extremely well - probably because they're not a "real" Citroen!

She did say "trusty" not "rusty"...

I'd presume she'd also like to be able to get parts for it easily, quickly and cheaply. Something that wasn't particularly easy 10 years ago when I had my last XM.

What's wrong with a C5 138 mk2 easy to park it has parking sensors at both ends in the exclusive?

Rears standard, fronts If spec'ed on an exclusive I think.
Vtr' s had rears, mine did, don't know if you could spec them onto that level of car.

Sorry if that was a little oblique. It wasn't meant as a question - but rather a suggested answer to the question "What's wrong with . . . ?"

My c5 mk2 on a 07 plate was only a vtr and had front and rear parking sensors. It was a funny spec, had the vtr seats which were quite basic with the parking sensors, xenon directional headlamps, lane departure warning vibrating seats that the exclusives had. Basically it was like an exclusive tith vtr seats. Nice cars though, and highly recommended for a family car.
