I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

Seems to be buggered, gets to to the screen then the progress wheel will go no further, spent most of the day yesterday fiddling with it, the built in fix programmes ask for a password but none work. :evil:

I am close to using up my last angle grinder cutting disc and I wondered if anyone can recommend any particular make of discs that have proved to be good in any way - long life, fine cut, cheap etc. There are so many options to choose from I thought I'd ask before ordering some new stock? :)

It also depends on how long these cars have been operating as to how much debris from the timing belt has been allowed to circulate. The oil strainer can get blocked with this stuff, but if it enters past this into the system it can still do damage - so always wise to keep an eye on the oil pressure light and stop driving the vehicle if it occurs...

Hi, came to my possession an alternator. the only thing I know about it that it's manufactured by Valeo. there is no (at least I didn't found and I looked thoroughly) model number on it. I don't know from which vehicle it was dismantled. all I can see that it has two terminals, +B and +D. attached a picture of the back cover.

Valeo make thousands of different alternators for the automotive industry and appearances are no way to identify the models as they will vary in shape, design, type (reversing or not), output, and components used. Without a code number, there's no way to identify it.

Quite a specific quest from me.......

I use dash cams on all my vehicles and have done for years, but today I had a near miss with someone driving straight across a crossroads a foot or so in front of my bumper :shock: This was in my hairdryer (MX5) and whilst the footage at the slow speed I was going would have been perfectly admissable in court...

Later thi year, we will be making renovations to an apartment in the UK. I have renovated a few houses, but there is one aspect of this one which is a mystery to me.

The apartment was built as part of a large development in about 1990. It has underfloor slab heating, but the electric panel also has timers and breakers marked as 'ceiling heating'....

Two interesting spots today

The Morris Traveller looked like a brand new car! Very nice. The Renault Megane Coupe Cabriolet performed its roof closing trick very neat......but I wonder how waterproof it is. I sat in the dentist's waiting room for about 45 minutes this mid-morning with a full view of the town high street, cars going in a steady stream in both directions, did a bit of a count up, easy as they've imposed a 20 mph limit.
Out of a hundred cars eighty two were driven by women and all of them sole occupants. :o

I was replacing a broken spring when I came accross the bearing which I think could have caused the spring to twist and snap.
It is that badly corroded that It has part of it still seized round the metal rest plate and only a grinding disc or replacement plates will will help in this instance.

Hi all, can I have your thoughts and experiences on breakdown cover please.
I have been driving for over 43 years, average mileage about 12, 000+ miles per year and have only had breakdown cover for about 3-4 years over that time, Greenflag or GEM. Never used their services....

Indeed you have a few shades there. I've had great success with the heat gun, especially on my Delica which went from being the same as your van to like new. I then gave it a spray of clearcoat and it lasted until I scrapped it! :-D

Short version, 406 coupe, 2.0 EW10 petrol. 5 speed BE4 manual gearbox.

Currently 70 mph is 3,400rpm in 5th and although allows for acceleration without changing down, it's always struck me as the engine being so busy takes the edge off a nice GT type ambience the Coupe does so well.
