Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Anyone with experience of American Muscle Cars knows that uprated autoboxes are common on these cars. In this country we seem to turn our noses up at automatics but a properly set up Hi Stall convertor/quick shift valve block Yank box is a revelation. Yes in the literal wilds of Northumberland I spotted one of these.

For educational purposes, and who knows someone may actually like it, I give you the ugliest front end since the Citroen H Van....and I love the Citroen H Van.

Its all subjective of course, and it could grow on me.....

Just a quick question. I have to source a replacement front wheel bearing and I haven't bought one for years so, in view of the plethora of cheap ones around, I thought I'd get the general opinion on which are the better bearing companies these days? :?:

We got back from France a few days ago – a two-day drive there by XM, and two back, around 1900 miles in all.

What spotted on the road?
Just three DS-brand in France - how did that happen? Were we right about the launch of the brand being open to question?

A while ago, one of the motoring magazines used to publish tests on mpg every 10 mph from 30 to 80 on a wide range of vehicles.
I should to see the same again with the associated emissions. Would make for very interesting reading and probably scandalise the industry when the actual real world figures were revealed.

I always thought the biggest blind spot on the Nissan Leaf was the A pillar and the wing mirror passenger side. Can blot out a fair bit of the road at junctions.

I've considered a dashcam for a while now but fortunately had no use of one.
This (and an American) review showed up and interests me, more for the reversing cam option as I find the Civic a bit of a pain to reverse.

Not available on UK Amazon but there are loads of similar ones. All over 50p so would make my budget seriously unhappy.

hi all, I am trying to get an old single cylinder bike to run right.. I feel I want to know it's air fuel ratio and then make changes to jets etc.. (I have tried looking at plug and so on, but I want something a little more certain)

help! so far I have looked at :
Chinese gauges and O2 sensors (no problem to fit these)
Gunson testers
Colourtune...

I used the analyser on my new(er) bike, and the needle stayed at about 13 and slightly drifted up (leaned) with revs, showing good emissions on the gauge. I may repeat this on the MG as well as it's all good info :)

I also noticed for the first time, the idle speed screw was doing nothing in the bike carb! I think a previous owner has...

In the shower this morning, covered in soapy lather and the shower died. :(

Yes the water used is not as bad as you would think to be honest.

As for algae killer, I use the Pro-Kleen stuff that you dilute with water - great for keeping the water in water features algae free - as long as you don't have fish in there of course....

I have been having real grief with Virgin Media over our broadband. I am watching the new series of Top Gear, and the new Ford GT has a Citroen trick (of a sort). Put it into Track mode and it drops (rapidly) by a couple of inches. Put it back into Road mode and it jumps back up.

Well its not exactly new, but the Top Gear crew have been filming an episode in Northumberland in Electric SUV's, towing little camping pods (one had a trailer tent). Definitely an episode which will interest me, but how far in advance the filming is of the broadcast I have no idea.

My old friend asked about the Omaze draw that's being widely promoted on tv and online, a £million house in Devon the prize, free entry to the draw...........but. I had a look, you can have one entry by postcard free then there are options to buy multiple entries.

It's supposed to be a charity draw for the NSPCC.

Those numbers show a breakdown of profit!! Presumably then the total income expected is that £625,000 + the costs of the prize and the advertising. That would suggest an expected income of at least 3.65 million yet the charity only gets half a million. Be much more beneficial if the ticket buyers just donated to the charity!!! :shock: Got a phone call from my old friend, she'd been stung by some waspy thing and her hand and arm were up like a balloon.

GP says go to A&E, an hour there then a round trip to the chemists for antibiotics.

Got to her house and the 8 foot fluorescent lamp in her kitchen had died so a trip to the electric shop for a tube. :(

Hi all
The trims on my Xantia are getting a little bit tatty and as they are original i would like to keep them. :)
My idea is to soak them in a bucket of sugar soap solution to get them back to base level and then see where i go from there.

I assume i will then need to use a plastic use paint primer and then similar type paint for the top...

Did a browse on the DVLA site yesterday, and was amazed to find my very first car still on the system, and listed as Tax expired 18 September 2017 .

Now that's quite an achievement for a car that first hit the road in March 1935 . . .

Can any PC techy type people here identify what type of RAM this is? I know theres a few different types. Its from a Windows 10 desktop. Im looking to get another one to double up the RAM to 8gb.
Tried typing some of the numbers into ebay but nothing helpful comes up.

My next move after doubling the RAM to 8GB in my laptop was to change the spinning discs hard drive for a SSD. That really had a quite noticeable effect on boot-up time and general responsiveness. I might go to 16GB next or, just possibly, change the CPU if it isn't soldered to the motherboard.

When I did this some ten years ago on my then laptop...

Thanks for the info Chris, the screen was apparently fine using the PC connected to the VGA input so it does look like the issue was in the rf or maybe the Humax box but its been ok for the last hour since wiggling the coax plug in the wall. Maybe a duff socket connection which I'll look at on my next visit!! :)
