What's wrong?

Post by Gibbo2286 »

The pointer on my computer keeps dashing off up to the top right and bringing down the settings menu.

Have you tried a reboot? Whilst turning your mouse upside down?

Control,Alt, delete should force a shutdown. if anything is moved during loading it can think that 0 movement is somewhere else so will keep going to that direction after loading

Not wireless Mick but it's been playing up all since I started posting here today, typing away and suddenly it's off and down comes the menu. :o
Switching off now so I'll see if it's sorted when I restart in the morning.

Turn your mouse upside down and clean / remove any fluff from the optical sensor. If crud gets in there it can cause the tracking to go wild.

Once saw this problem (on the boss's laptop at work) in that case it was the "nipple mouse", central on the keyboard that had gone faulty. He never used that so I managed to turn it off using every keyboard shortcut I could muster to navigate about!

I have also had that problem with a touchpad mouse.

You should disable each pointer device until you find the culprit. You may be able to disable devices in the windows device manager.

On one PC I had to open up the machine and physically disconnect the pointer thing.
