A Pain in the...........
My mouse pointer keeps shooting off to the top right corner and bringing a menu down since this week's Microsoft upgrade.

Re: A Pain in the...........
Try cleaning the underside of the mouse as a first step and if unsuccessful sit a cat on the top right corner of your monitor!

Does your mouse or pointer driver need updating>

Re: A Pain in the...........
It's often the actual hardware drivers from Microsoft replaced during an update that cause all these issues.
I permanently disable all updates and when I do allow selective updates, I refuse any and all hardware driver updates.

Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.

Well that didn't last long, I've checked the device drivers and settings taken the mouse off and replaced it with a Bluetooth wireless one and it's still the same, start typing and away it goes up to the top right corner and down comes the menu.

Re: A Pain in the...........
Has it a "nipple mouse" in centre of the keyboard?
A work colleague's machine went mad much how you described, (by navigating using every keyboard shortcut I could muster!) We managed to turn off the nipple mouse in Control Panel and normal service resumed.
Was a good few years ago (think the machine was using Windows XP as sense of timeline!) By worth a look?

I don't know what that is Matt, nothing on my keyboard like it. I've spent all morning going through the suggestions on the net and still no luck.

Re: A Pain in the...........
Matt is referring to a keyboard with a little button in the middle which acts as a joystick controller for a mouse. If you have one and it gets stuck in the down position everytime you activate the keyboard it causes the type of issue you have. The picture shows one with a red button:

Do you use a wireless keyboard or a cable connected Gibbo?

I'm using a wireless mouse at the moment after trying to sort the problem but it doesn't help, the damned thing has shot off to the corner three times while I typed this.

Re: A Pain in the...........
Then that would suggest that your mouse and keyboard settings are awry. Have you tried disconnecting the keyboard cable and the wireless dongle from the pc, then reboot in fact a 3pin reset is best, then once your desktop is up plug in the mouse dongle and test it. if ok plug in the keyboard and test that. If it still plays up I'd suggest reinstalling the keyboard and mouse drivers from scratch after another clean reboot
