Given the number of 'After-sales campaign' notices concerning Takarta Airbags I have been made aware of when looking up parts from PSA for members, I thought I would post a link to the following documentary that may be informative concerning the issue with these igniters.

According to Takata, the chemicals in the airbags’ explosive charge can...

Disruption to Parts Service

This has caused some problems for organisations like ours and the Team are currently looking at the best way forward. This...

Added Diesel to Unleaded Laguna by mistake

by Homer » 21 May 2005, 06:24

First post

I would guess if you have run it on diesel then the garage will have had these pipes off to drain them.
I guess then that they didn't refit them properly.
Peeing petrol all over the engine is not a good idea though.
Do you have breakdown cover? If it doesn't have home cover then I would drive it a mile (or whatever their minimum is) then call them.

The 12V supply to the coil is switched (by the TDC sensor on the flywheel) in order to produce a spark, which is created when the 12V disappears and the EMF field is has produced collapses (known as flyback), so how are you measuring it? Also watch out for people taking careful note of your VIN, this can also be used for cloning!

for the sake of £15 as opposed to a lot more you might as well give a new cam belt a go you never no you might be very lucky

Last post

The cambelt snapped on my 1.9 diesel when travelling at about 40 mph.
What chances are that the engine is now knackered?
Is it worth fitting a new cambelt just to see or (after 5 weeks ownership!) should I throw it away and start again?
Many thanks

Scenic Sunroof Problems

by bwellard » 12 Apr 2005, 22:51

First post

Had this exact problem in my Laguna. It took my local Renault dealer 45 mins to fix. Apparently there are some relays inside the mechanism that tell the motor what position etc. the sunroof is in and mine went awol! They reset everything and voila... They also regreased the mechanism etc..

Last post

My wifes Scenic front electric sunroof is having strange problems. It will open fine to the tilt but then it won't go in either direction, closed or sliding open. I have to use the manual winder to put it down which of course is a nightmare ! Anyone else had this problem or have any ideas ? Don't know if its the switch or the mechanism.
Thanks

Scenic diesel stutter

by alext99 » 12 Apr 2005, 03:24

Why, without warning does the diesel refuse to rev above 1250 rpm ? suggestion was water or condensation in the fuel filter or tank - all checked out OK - does anyone know about the 'fly-by-wire' accelerator control - can it play up ? what is the solution ?

Scenic - What to look out for

by Mosser » 12 Apr 2005, 00:20

My wifes got a 1.6i megane scenic and its a bit of a bus to drive, and it gives you arm ache after about 20 minutes driving as the seat isnt height adjustable,
Its pretty good on the fuel averaging around 40mpg and is suprisingly powerful as it can keep up with my xantia at the lower speeds up to about 60mph,
But she has decided she is going to be...

Hi there, a relative of mine is looking to buy a Renault Megane Scenic / Renault Scenic, with the 1.9 Diesel engine. (either DT, DTi, or DCi, depending on specs and price). They have about £3500 to spend, and im doing some of the donkey work finding one. Is there anything I should look out for, i.e. major problems, or other service items that...

Are there any owners over there that have the above automatic models?
Im interested to know if they still have their cars and if they still drive them and enjoy them.
Im asking this because in SYdney over the weekend saw a great Renault 20 with a whole family in it and it was loaded to the roof with kids and holiday stuff? What were these cars...

Hi,I have a Dci80 with a K&N filter and have the same pinking .(It did it before the K&N also) I've read various suggestions but nothing I've taken on board.....However I've just had an oil change using Shell Helix semi synthetic and the tinkle has almost gone on the partial throttle + the car runs happier and feels perkier too.I've just turned...

Anyone any idea what may be causing what can only be described as PINKING as in a petrol engine. Occurs on acceleration but only moderate acceleration. If it does it increasing power gets rid of it. Strangely doesnt do it when labouring or under load. Occurs mainly around 3 3 and a half thousand revs.
Tried different fuels no difference.
Car is 12...

Laguna Immobilizer

by kookysaphire » 06 Apr 2005, 23:32

Hi
Need some help, does anyone know how to de-activate the immobilizer on an N-reg 95/96 Laguna. My battery went dead so I bought a new one for my key. Unfortunately now the immobilizer won't turn off. I have phoned Renault and there saying that I need to get the car towed into them and they'll put on a diagnostic machine at a cost of £70 plus vat...

Blown Exhaust Manifold Gasket

by citroenzx » 12 Apr 2005, 19:02

try fairy liquid over the gasket

Last post

When idling my Laguna (1.8 RT,N Reg) sounds as quiet as a 9 year old car should. But when the engine is exelarating or under any sort of load it makes what can only be described as a farting noise that sounds like it's coming from under the bonnet. Could this be a blown exhaust manifold gasket or something else? How would I be able to test it etc.?

Laguna 1.9 DTI 1998

Hi,
I have the same year DTi and had the same problem for some time. I believe that it is due to vibration in the injector pump region. Check all mounting bolts for the injector pump and alternator assemblies. One of the bracket mounting bolts worked loose on mine this led to 2 others snapping in the cylinder head. To cut a long story short, the...

Back again after the turbo problem. On the instrument panel the Serv and the injection warning lights come on and I lose acceleration. This has happened on and off for the last 2 yrs. First time Renault changed an injector but recently I was told it could be the EGR valve, which I had changed (£130). However after 4 weeks of no problems, its back...

Megane Problems

by clutch » 05 Apr 2005, 18:00

Hi,
Just started to hear a humming sound coming from my car (I can't make out what area of the car!) whilst driving at 30 mph. It only happens when travelling at around this speed and I can't hear it when going at different speeds. It is not dependant on which gear i'm in either so could it be a wheel bearing?
Also when pressing the clutch pedal...

172 brake pads question

by Stuart McB » 03 Apr 2005, 22:29

First post

Can't you see the caliper through the alloy. The pad with the edge should be quite visible as it's used on some cars as a retaining lug. Apart from that take the alloy off and have a look, write down any part numbers or ref guide numbers.

Last post

hi, would somebody know if mk1 & mk2 172 brake pads are the same? i rang demontweeks and motorsportworld to ask about ferodo ds2500 front pads and was told i had a choice of 2 (minimal cost difference) one pad was kidney shaped the other had a definative edge on it, neither shop could tell me which was which? thanks
