I don't have knowledge of the Peugeot, but the issue of a loose connection is known with several makes of car.
I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

Hi all. Got a problem with a 1989 Espace 2.0 TXE. The rear near side tyre is worn about 50mm around the outside. There doesn't appear to be any problem on the near side re: Shocks, Trailing Arm bushes, wheel bearing. However on the off side the Front Trailing Arm bush is completely shot. Coolant needs bleeding
Thermostat jammed shut
Faulty expansion tank cap

mine on the clio is at the front of the gearbox about half the way up its a plastic wingnut type thingy. it doesn't have a dipstick, it just holds 3.25litres of gear oil, you'll be able to find that out from any motor factor shop for you make and model.
other than that try purchasing an haynes manual often comes in handy, other than that try ebay...

I've just successfully fitted a new nearside driveshaft to my Scenic. A lot of oil, I guess from the gearbox leaked out. I cannot find where to check and top-up the gearbox oil. I guess there must be a short dip stick somewhere but I cannot find it. Is it at the back of the engine and/or will I need to remove the lower plastic tray to find it....

I've just bought a '98 laguna esate with a similar problem, the key fob worked intermittantly. The garage had already diagnosed the problem and it needed a new remote fob (which had to be ordered from france on a 3 week wait )

Hi, I have the Dci80 and I love it - it's my first diesel (I'm an ex-GTI/Hot hatch convert!)It never dips below 57MPG and thats mixed urban/dual carriageway enthusiastic driving!! For the money the spec available is unbeatable. Regarding the output, the Dci badge on the door is a clue....
Chrome dci=65bhp, Chrome dc but with a blue i is the 80bhp...

It is either the rotor arm or distributor cap. You might aswell replace both as they're not to costly... I had this happen to me on my current Laguna and a Honda Civic that I once owned..

The 12V supply to the coil is switched (by the TDC sensor on the flywheel) in order to produce a spark, which is created when the 12V disappears and the EMF field is has produced collapses (known as flyback), so how are you measuring it? The 2V DC may be an average the meter is showing, or simply the highest figure it has time to climb to before...

The pollen filter stands achance of being under the windscreen passanger side. Have alook and if there's 2 screws then undo them and remove that portion of front screen falence. The filter may be under this.

I know it's not the same but, a few years back when the New Astra was new the wife had a Convertible. The tyres on it were again as per the factory and really only rubber bands. But they wore out in 12 months (11.5K) and at £170 per corner a cheaper alternative was soon found. Again the same with a new Astra Coupe Turbo and a 2 year old Ford...

Does anybody have a Megane Couple Cabriolet (new model folding roof). Ours have worn out its front tyres in just under 13,000 miles. Is this normal level of wear. Its all even wear, so no suspect problem with the car.
The tyres are the original supplied from the Renault factory, Continential Sport Contact 2.

My 1993 T1400 Trafic has recently started misfiring. It starts fine and will run on the choke, but when its warm ( choke no longer needed) it misfires, usually using medium throttle, particularly noticeable up slight hills. It doesnt seem to happen on light throttle openings
I have changed plugs and rotor arm, yesterday, I used a carb cleaner...

laguna temp gauge not working

There are 2 sensors that are used for temperature sensing. 1 that screws in to the front of the engine for the ECU and one that screws in to the back of the engine, somewhere near the thermostat housing that supplies the dash with its temp reading. Perhaps check that the plug is connected to it properly?

When turning the ignition, the gauge lights up and the needle moves (does this reading give oil temperature? I've never had a manual) but once it settles down to read the coolant temp, it reads zero....

Sorry to jump on your post, but I was just about to post the very same problem, as I've just spent the past 2 days trying to correct this. I've swapped fuel lines, checked the bleed pump diaphragm and bleed screw, removed and retightened the fuel filter. The problem persists (loads of air bubbles!)

When I had this problem it was due to worn lower suspension struts, but since you've replaced them, it can't be them. Broken or loose engine mount perhaps?
Have you tried getting the car on axle stands, removing the suspension struts and then moving the front wheels hard up and down to see if you can make the noise occur?

I've got a nasty knocking/clunking noise from the front end when going over bumps. I've replaced the front lower suspension arms, anti-roll bar, suspension struts and top mounts and it's still making the noise. It's very loud, as people turn around and look when I drive past. I've recently lost the spare key of my 5 year old Megane Coupe. The local dealer in Edinburgh has quoted me 125 quid for a new key. Does anyone know how I can replace the key without paying this ridiculous amount?
If I got hold of a key from a scrappie would it be possible to get this programmed to my car?

you should have brought a diesel traffic much cheaper to run. is this fuel injected becouse you could have partly blocked injectors you could try fuel injector cleaner that would be the first thing id try along with checking out the air filter and plugs and changing the oil all this helps also check for leaks in the fuel supply system....

For anyone who read the original 'scenic diesel stutter' - a mechanic suggested I disconnect the throttle cable ( that's the multi pun plug found to the extreme left of the engine bay ) and spray inside with wd40 - it wirked like a dream - end of problem.

The cambelt snapped on my 1.9 diesel when travelling at about 40 mph.
What chances are that the engine is now knackered?

Had this exact problem in my Laguna. It took my local Renault dealer 45 mins to fix. Apparently there are some relays inside the mechanism that tell the motor what position etc. the sunroof is in and mine went awol! They reset everything and voila... They also regreased the mechanism etc..

My wifes Scenic front electric sunroof is having strange problems. It will open fine to the tilt but then it won't go in either direction, closed or sliding open. I have to use the manual winder to put it down which of course is a nightmare ! Anyone else had this problem or have any ideas ? Don't know if its the switch or the mechanism.

My wifes got a 1.6i megane scenic and its a bit of a bus to drive, and it gives you arm ache after about 20 minutes driving as the seat isnt height adjustable,
Its pretty good on the fuel averaging around 40mpg and is suprisingly powerful as it can keep up with my xantia at the lower speeds up to about 60mph,

Anyone any idea what may be causing what can only be described as PINKING as in a petrol engine. Occurs on acceleration but only moderate acceleration. If it does it increasing power gets rid of it. Strangely doesnt do it when labouring or under load. Occurs mainly around 3 3 and a half thousand revs.

When idling my Laguna (1.8 RT,N Reg) sounds as quiet as a 9 year old car should. But when the engine is exelarating or under any sort of load it makes what can only be described as a farting noise that sounds like it's coming from under the bonnet. Could this be a blown exhaust manifold gasket or something else? How would I be able to test it etc.?

Hi,
Just started to hear a humming sound coming from my car (I can't make out what area of the car!) whilst driving at 30 mph. It only happens when travelling at around this speed and I can't hear it when going at different speeds. It is not dependant on which gear i'm in either so could it be a wheel bearing?

172 brake pads question

Can't you see the caliper through the alloy. The pad with the edge should be quite visible as it's used on some cars as a retaining lug. Apart from that take the alloy off and have a look, write down any part numbers or ref guide numbers.

hi, would somebody know if mk1 & mk2 172 brake pads are the same? i rang demontweeks and motorsportworld to ask about ferodo ds2500 front pads and was told i had a choice of 2 (minimal cost difference) one pad was kidney shaped the other had a definative edge on it, neither shop could tell me which was which? thanks

Front passenger door on my 98 Laguna has permanently locked. Will not open using remote or interior or exterior handles. Cannot remove trim whilst door is closed to get at lock. Any useful suggestions (polite) would be greatly appreciated.

The rep at work took his Laguna II in for its first MOT yesterday.
The cars going back to the leasing company next week & they would like it back in a resaleable condition or we get a rather large bill!
Its a 02 reg 1.9 DCI Dynamic with FULL Renault service history & only 40K miles on the clock.

Pop into your local halfords and pick up number 3252(i think thats the right number)It covers Renault Laguna Hatchback and Estates 1994-2000 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 litre petrol and 1.9 and 2.2 diesel including turbo. Radio code for laguna

There is software that can work out many radio codes, depending on the make. Philips units need to be hooked up to a machine to get the code. The dealer who sold the car new might have a record of the code.
I detest radio codes, they are just a way of screwing money out of second and subsequent owners. They barely inconvenience scrotes at all.

it is common for the strut top mountings to split and cause a knock.but the knocking sounds like its the strut top cone bearings that sit under the top mountings.
does it sound like the coil springs TWANG when the steering is moved left to right?
if so the bearing are seized!

54 Laguna sport tourer blower fans stay on!!

Had this car 2 months from brand new, went to start this morning and battery is dead. Found out that the blower fans do not switch off when i remove the key card, and yes theyre supposed to do. Also had to replace a faulty headlamp after 3 weeks. Things not looking good for this french outfit, should have opted for the vw.
