The cambelt snapped on my 1.9 diesel when travelling at about 40 mph.
What chances are that the engine is now knackered?
Is it worth fitting a new cambelt just to see or (after 5 weeks ownership!) should I throw it away and start again?
Many thanks

Throw it away & start again. My sisters belt snapped on her Clio D last year. The engine was ticking over in traffic. After taking the head off,we found a few bent valves & there was indents on top of the pistons where the valves had hit.
Sorry[:(],not what you wanted to hear.Could just try a new belt as Citroenzx says, you never know.[:)]
