2002 15 dci wont start

Unread post by derrick013 »

over the last few days now i turn the key to start nothing happens car wont start but all ignition lights come on as normal then it has started to turn over slightly and cut out again and also i have noticed the red service light flickering on and off quickly when i see this i know when i go to turn key that nothing will happen but if the red light stays red the car will start ok.also sometimes i can hear a slight buzzing noise coming from passenger side like its coming from fuse box area.
last night the car wouldn't turn over enough to start it just kept cutting out as if starter was sticking this was happening for about ten minutes so embarassing outside a shop so evenually to get iut saarted i put it into reverse and turned the key while in gear and away she went. this doesn't happen all the time but i dont want it getting any worse.

[:)]Hi we had a similar thing with my wife Clio Dci65. It turned out to be the receiver ring on the ignition barrel not working correctly and not recognising the key (the key tells the immobilizer if it's the correct key for the car)
Check the battery connections
Try using the spare key (battery maybe low in the everyday key)
If it's still in warranty the dealer will sort it f.o.c. it's a known problem!!
Hope this helps!![:D]

The keys battery being low wouldnt have any effect on the immobiliser, This is a transponder system & is worked by magnets.
The power for the system to read the keys code comes from the aerial coil.
