"L" reg clio 1.9D coolant problem

<font face="Arial">Steam coming out of expansion tank even after a relatively short journey. On inspection coolant hoses severely pressurised and full of air. Radiator fan kicks in OK, No obvious leaks in hoses etc., No emulsification in oil. Any ideas please.</font id="Arial">

In order of likelihood:
Coolant needs bleeding
Thermostat jammed shut
Faulty expansion tank cap
Head gasket failed

thanks for the reply "arry b", I've bled the hoses and got some heat though the air vents, drove for 20 min, the hoses went the same way again. Full of steam and no heat to the interior. checked the oil cap and dip stick and the oil seems clean. changed the expansion tank cap to no avail, going to check the thermostat next. Hopefuly its not the gasket ! ! Is the head gasket a BIG job? could it be the water pump? sorry for all the questions but I am a novice when it comes to cars.

Try the thermostat next, but before you do - is the radiator getting hot all over when the hoses get steamed? Could be a blocked radiator.
