Hi Guys,
Does the standard exhaust on a 1995 306 TD have a catylst, as my son's peugeot that he recently bought has a modified exhaust straight from the exhaust manifold to the rear box. He wants this to be changed back to standard but he's unsure if he needs a cat centre of not.

My mate reckons that an L Reg 1.6 Peugeot 306 is actually quicker than an N Reg 1.8XT Peugeot 306 - Is this true?
I cannot see how it possibly can be (unmodified) - it's not as if the weight would be any different.
Any ideas?

If you look deeper into the forum, you will see my call for help with a 306 XSi very juddery to pull off, needing a lot of rev's. People suggested stepper motor's and whatnot, but now its solved!

I have a 2001 206 1.4 which seems to have a strange sort of oil filter. It is not the usual metal screw on sort, but it seems to be a paper cartridge type which hides under a large black plastic cover. Has anyone changed this type of filter and if so could you let me how to do it as I don't want to get oil every where & not fit the new one...

Whilst giving the car a wash at the weekend, I decided to change the wiper blade on the back around. Heater fan on my 405 (pre-facelift) diesel turbo only works on max. I am getting hot and cold air so it's just the fan. Searching the archives the only vaugly similar problem was on a 405 TD. My 306 1.9 D Turbo has suddenly started loosing coolant and putting out a lot of white smoke when accelerating!
I think it's probably the head gasket but is there anything else that might cause these problems? If it is the gasket, what sort of costs am I looking at for getting it replaced?
