Hi
Speed interface is part number 1929 SJ & is found on the 2.1 Turbo diesel, 2 litre 8 valve turbo & the V6 24 valve.
Speed sensor is part number 6160 64 & again its the same for the 2.1 Turbo diesel, 2 litre 8 valve turbo & V6 24 valve.
Rough prices im guessing from previous dealings with these a few years ago is around £30 for the interface & £60 for the speed sensor.
Also, Have a look down the local scrapyard.
Fairly simply job, The speed sensor only has a bolt & a connector plug so that ones easy ( when you can get to it )
The speed interface is up behind the glovebox, A few torx 20 screws undo with the correct tool will gain you access to this.
Also, While your there, Is your re circ flap motor clicking? Check it out while you have great access to it.
I would also have a look at the speed sensors connection first, On the 16 valve cars the thermostat housing leaks & the drips away right above the speed sensor & causes all sorts of problems, Not sure if this is the same on the 2.1 Turbo diesel but worth a look anyway.

well had to take car into main dealer to fix this fault.thay found the prob there is one more elec box stuffed right up behind the glove box (NOT THE SPEED INTERFACE ? )it is located to the bulk head and is part of the ecu which is why engine light was comming in. when i asked for more info ie name and part number thay would not say? total cost was £159.08 inc vat.speedo now works fine[:D]
