Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hello,

I have a C4 2013 1.6 eHDi with about 30k miles on it. I would like to disable the EGR system and do a profesional remap, but i want to leave the DPF system running. Some peole say disabling the EGR will significantly shorten the life of the DPF. So do you think this is a good idea? Will there be any other negatives that i am not aware of?...

Hi, i have a mk2 Xantia (2000) 1.8L 16v petrol model. I have noticed the reservoir tank for the LHM was a little low. I read the manual and on top is an indicator, where the yellow disk has to be between the two red lines. Saying that this doesnt work, how high should the level in the LHM reservoir be? As has been said earlier in this topic, it would be very unusual for the LHM level indicator to fail.

From the symptoms you describe, I think it is more likely that the pump is sucking in air through a hole in the hose from the LHM tank to the pump. It could just be a loose joint at either end, or it could be a crack in the plastic fitting at the...

I tried to remove the glove box in my C4 ( Make year 2009 ). To remove it, I removed the torx head screws around the outside edge, then remove the hidden one under the 'air bag' sticker. Then I tried to pull it out, but I can't , I felt that it is still attached in the bottom of the glove box to the dashboard. Are there any other hidden...

A week or so ago I got a message pop up at the instant the car is started.
It tells me that there is a 'parking assistance fault'.
I plugged in my reader to the OBDII socket but it finds no faults.

Might this be to do with the parking sensors?

It never rains but it pours, or in this case dribbles orange blood :cry:
After having the steering rack replaced last year the car has been problem free and great to drive.
However, after leaving it parked up for a week I noticed a bit of a puddle underneath the drivers side front wheel.

Basically, what I'm trying to discover is where the information comes from which ECU uses to control the injection adjustment value, mixture etc. I know Volkswagon have a pressure sensor built into the glow plug and feedback from this is used to control combustion conditions within individual cylinders... but how does the Citroen/Peugeot system...

One other thing I probably should have mentioned is that when I removed the injectors the car had not been running for a day or twobut they were soaking with diesel! A quick and maybe simple one.. will a zf4hp 20 box mated to a v6esj vvt from a c5 mk.1 work perfectly fine in a 607 v6 esj vvt car.. the c5 is an 03 the 607 is a Y plater 2001..

Maybe... But you need to check that the gear ratios and final drive ratios are the same. Xantia and XM 4HP20s are not interchangeable because the ECU detects the wrong ratios as a fault.

It looks like my C6 needs new turbos. I believe they are Garrett GTA15VVNT, but are they the same for both banks?

Anyone got any recommendations for a supplier? My garage is happy to install supplied parts so I'm taking a look in case we can do it cheaper.

I managed to wreck my xantia by putting the battery leads wrong way :rofl2: :oops:
(yes you can laugh) Now the car won't start and lights the yellow key light in the dashboard. Where should I start to look for the resolution or should I just tow it to junkyard?

Thanks, the first thing I'd do is check all fuses in both the cabin and engine bay fuse boxes.

Then get a Lexia diagnostic machine hooked up to the car and see if it can 'see' the CPH ECU and the engine ECU - or any ECUs at all for that matter...

Any ECUs the Lexia cannot communicate with may have been damaged by the reverse polarity. The fact...

Had been running my CX for a little over a month and now pretty sure the head gasket has gone.

It has mayo in the engine oil filler cap, dip stick looks murky (after recent oil change), and it's using coolant (although coolant doesn't look like its contaminated), although the temperature has never went up beyond 78...

I believe that the 3 bolts holding the strut onto the wing are not all the same length on a Xsara Picasso - and if you don't put the short one back in the right place it catches on the spring and makes a rattling noise. I would check that the centre nut is tight first though!

Hi all,
I recently purchased a used 2005 Citroen C5 3.0 V6 with the 6 speed automatic transmission. During engine idle while in D while pressing the brake, the transmission (or torque convertor) really wants to pull the car foward, and cause the car to vibrate and feel very rough, thus causing me to place the car in neutral to relieve this issue...

The front suspension started making a groaning noise a while ago as the car settled itself down after a run and when it was raised and lowered. I lifted the gaiters, lightly oiled the shafts and the noise went away. The car has always been a sinker, despite new anti sink spheres and I've got used to waiting till it rises. What’s happening now is...

Hello to all from Bretagne.

We have long standing problems with the gearbox on our 1.9td Boxer van .

Its a ML5T gearbox and 2nd gear is almost gone possibly due to worn baulk-ring causing the synchro to crash.

Normally these gearboxes fetch 400euros plus here in France but today a 1.9d Boxer has come onto our radar at a very attractive price....

Hi guys.

I don't understand why but I'm always changing my front tyres due to excess wear on the inside edge on both sides the pressure is fine as I check and top up regularly any ideas why this is or what to check first.

I must be changing them every 4-5 months due to this problem

My car is a 2009 1.6 hdi c5
Milage just over 110k miles....

It depends if there's any damage obvious to the tester I think, if there's a clearly bent track rod or wishbone/torn dust boots or loose ball joint, damage to tyre or wheel etc then it'd fail, however I don't think it'd fail just for having the tracking out. I would get it looked at and put right as soon as possible though as it'll munch tyres...

So I am changing my aux belt and the kit comes with a new tensioner pulley and guide pulley. However the new kit I got has a different guide pulley than the old one. The second photo is the old tensioner pulley (on the old bracket), next to it is the old guide pulley. The first photo is the new guide pulley, which has a slightly larger diameter...

Looking to wire up a tow bar to my C3 2002 model but need wiring diagram to identify correct wires.

Anyone got a link to a good schematic?

Cheers also the tow bar is new but bought second hand ( no fitting instructions ) it has a 7 pin plug. Are the wires that go to the car lights normally wired into the plug universal IE. stop light say pin 1?...

On that age of Citroën the lights are normally switched by relays in the BSI and the BSM. There is normally no monitoring of the current and no bulb failure warning. If that is the case the socket can be wired directly. However the use of a bypass relay set is a good idea as it means that a short circuit in the trailer wiring doesn't blow the fuse...

I have had many MANY French cars in my time. AX's, 405's, Xantias, Scenics and just recently a nice 2011 C5.
I have been having a few problems with the latest one though and after quite a few problems I have finally fixed them all.
Cooling problems, leaks (water and oil) wheel bearings, head cooked up, timing chain, window winder systems to name...

Started having a look at used C5 X7 prices again as I will be replacing my 3rd X7 which will be approaching the 120k mile barrier by the end of the year. Have prices gone up or is it my idea (unless i got a very good deal when i bought mine)? Are these last hydractive beauties becoming a collectors item already :-D

And so it begins.......
My new GTI Turbo cuts out if left idling for too long.
the fans are cutting in at 90 degrees, and the temp is falling fine,
The car always restarts after about 5-10minutes
I tempted to suspect my aftermarket coils overheating? but have no scientific basis for this
This eve, it disgraced itself, then I got it home, so left...

The gauge in my 1998 Exclusive hatchback TDi is intermittent. Can't buy one on internet - no longer manufactured by either VDO or Pierburg it seems. Can anyone help with a unit rescued from a scrap car? Preferably working, but I believe there is a company in USA that can repair non-working units.

Three days after its MOT the EPB on my C5 started playing up, auto handbrake and hill start both failing. Diagnostics came up with a permanent fault on the EPB cables. Attempting to re-tension/calibrate failed. I've removed the unit from the car and have been looking for a used replacement given the ridiculous amount Citroen want for a new one,...

My advice would be to find a way to fit the Nissan hubs/ABS etc to the Citroen suspension. Then all you need for basic suspension is a pump, which could be done in many ways. You could (perhaps later) upgrade the suspension to Hydractive by fitting the extra spheres, valves, sensors and electronics.

So, earlier today I was at a car showroom possibly looking at changing my car.

Anyway about half an hour later myself and the salesman walked to my car so he could look round to value it. We try to start it up. Dead.

Stone cold dead.

They tried a jump starter box on it but no joy. So I called Green Flag who came out and managed to start it...
