Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

My xantia has always started up, cold or hot. Until now.

I just cant figure this out: ignition on, eveything looks in order, starts up easy and dies again.
If i push down the throttle for about 10 seconds after i turned on the key, then its acting normally.

There is gas, no black smoke or anything weird. Im reading up but it feels like its...

The coolant temperature sensor can be checked by reading its resistance at roughly 20 degrees and then comparing it with a known good one. That'll be the green sensor.

I'm not sure what the resistance should be at that temperature but I'm sure someone will soon supply the information..

A faulty coolant sensor can make the ECU 'think' the engine...

Well I managed to leave the key in the pocket of a pair of jeans which went through a wash cycle and spin in the Zanussi ! :(

Removed the battery and dried out thoroughly, new battery fitted and the key does transmit on 434.9MHz as it should. It will not re-synch to the car using the procedure in the handbook for changing the battery.

Well a good clean with Servisol and toothbrush failed to produce a result. The plip is definitely transmitting so I'm puzzled why the handbook procedure for re-initialising doesn't work, it did the last time I replaced the battery several years ago.

Next step will be a visit to the local dealer to see if I can get the relevant code. It's curious...

Just going through all the service history with my new car (2010 3.0 V6 C5, Black) and noticed the previous owner had a personal plate on it, starting with C5 then 3 letters. I'm sure it has got to have been a Citroen fan to have C5 in the reg, was it anybody who hangs around on here?

Fundamental my car has an intermittent feed to the injector earth's, this is through the 4 pin connector near the spare wheel plate
We found that a 4 pin black relay next to 'big blue' was very corroded and had stopped working...

Can someone recommend a garage to me, preferably 'in the north', that can do this job please. Local main dealer has quoted me a not unreasonable price...but I've heard lots of bad reports about them, which is putting me off! I've contacted a couple of relatively local 'specialists', both Citroen and autobox-specific, who've never got back to me....

Just picked up my new car, a C5 3.0 V6 Exclusive + Navi and reading through the handbook it says you can get the car to pre heat so as soon as i start it there should be toasty air coming out the vents, great for those winter mornings. Now i have looked everywhere and there is no remote hiding in the car, so before i go to Citroen and try to order...

Heater is installed in front of the left front wheel. There is an hole under bumper that has got metallic pipe/tube which is exhaust for webasto. Under 5C that automatic heater should start up automatically when motor is started, and you should feel warm blow from that exhaust pipe. Webasto on C5 runs quite silently, so it's not possible to tell...

I apologise for the re-post, but it ended up in Xantia.
The problem isn't

Starts instantly
Doesn't cut out
Normal above 1700 rpm

The problem is

Starts from cold instantly, but sounds rough
Within 10/20 secs it ticks over at 1200rpm then drops to 1000 every 1/2 a second
Sounds like a bag of spanners until the revs go above 1700, then sweet

Looking at a DS5 2.0l Auto HDI style. 4 years old with 67000 miles on the clock. Higher than my C5 by 13000 mls.
Said to be in excellent condition. Usual DS5 Style trim. No leather. I'm waiting for photos to be sent.
Any thoughts? Is the mileage high? Should I avoid. Costing £9250.

The centre panel of my C3 Picasso dashboard has an intermittent fault: it goes off and on again at random. Also, whilst it's off, I have no control of the radio. I can't work out how to get the trim off the dashboard to gain access to the inside. Any advice would be welcome.

I so wanted to fix my car because i started to stall always, no matter if it was warm or not.
So just now i tried to see what i could do and i pulled out some cord or that i think is the throttle reglator. I put it back again, and just felt like i wanted to get away from it all.

I put the key in and then i get a phonecall almost the same minute....

I am contemplating installing an amplifier in my 2011 C5 X7. The most difficult part of the installation seems to be finding a suitable point to pass the power lead from the battery through the firewall. It appears at first inspection that I need to drill from the rear of the glovebox. I would appreciate some insight into the project.

Just been exploring my mk 3 C5 estate & found this unused bracket & connector behind the left rear quarter panel trim. Just wondering what goes in there ? Its a 6 way black connector & one of the wires is a fairly heavy live cable, cant think what it could be with wiring that thick. Would like to know what its for as I might want to used the...

That certainly looks like it, strange that the BSR (Trailer control ECU) doesent have a connection like that on it though.

UPDATE: Its definitely for the towing harness, found the fitting instructions for the original towing electrics, the plug doesn't directly connect to the BSR, it connects to the harness. The BSR fits right in the bracket...

Sigh. Fred's Bosch fuel pump seems to be leaking from an end plate, the side closest to the engine. The goldy bit with 302 on this pic of the old pump (the one on the car is second hand, changed 4 years ago). Tried to get a camera scope in there but it's too tight. Leaks after about 30 secs, drips merrily for a few minutes and then stops. Will be...

Hello

I've got a 2011 1.4 VTi c4 with faulty bearing on that electric engager for the water pump.
Anyone knows bearing specifications for it?
Here's a picture, it'll say more than I did.

It's called 'friction wheel' on service.citroen and part number is 1204 55.

Bearing is in red circle.

Tempted to get a V6 HDI for my next C5, leaning towards the 3.0 instead of the 2.7 version. What are these engines like in the higher milage area for reliability like 100,000 to 200,000 miles? Just had the turbo go on my 2.2 (173bhp) C5 at 173,000 miles but apart from that its been extremely reliable in my 7 years of owning it.

Whats the best way to lubricate the runners on a C8 electric door.

One of my doors, the one used the most, has got a bit juddery and I would suspect it needs to be lubricated to run a bit smoother.

My concern would be that if I were to grease the runners surely they would attract dirt etc which would stick to the grease.

Any suggestions ?

Just wondering if anyone has a how to guide on replacing the oil seal in my gearbox where the drive shaft goes fits into.(passenger side) please. 2004 Berlingo 1.9d

We have 2006 C1 with factory fitted remote locking, however it has just stopped working. We have replaced the battery then had the key tested but still the remote key buttons don't lock or unlock the car. Turning the key in the lock does lock/unlock all doors as it should. I have tried lexia but no mention of locking ecu or faults, what next ?...

When you change the battery in the key fob. you normally need to re-initialise it. Put the key in the ignition and turn the ignition on, then hold the lock button down for 5 to 10 seconds, remove the key from the ignition close the doors and then try locking and unlocking the car with the fob a few times.

Your C5 has 2 components - the under engine protection (metal) and the under engine deflector (which is plastic). On your Petrol model, there are 3 metal quarter-turn bolt clips (1 in the first diagram) and 4 screws - so 7 fixing points in all. The deflector tabs slot into the metal protector.

I filled my car up yesterday with diesel in a local supermarket garage (Asda), yes I know some people say supermarket fuel is rubbish, but all Fuel in the UK is made to the same standard.

If the DPF temp sensor fault recurs, unplug the sensor (back of the engine - a bit awkward) and withdraw and check the cable. I had the same intermittent fault due to the cable chafing and wearing through the insulation - easy fix once found!

I got the case off. Was just being held by the grey silican material around the plastic art where the plug goes.
The material is oily likely from ingress of LDS. It did overflow once when being fitted with new tyres. It was my fault as I didn't know it should be on low to top up the LDS so it was overfull.

Faced with the red stop light flickering this morning and then going constant told me the lhm level in the tank was slowly reducing... everything was still working and after about 4 miles (6 miles to work) I jumped out to check and there's a spray of lhm at the back of the engine driver side. The thermal fuses can be a problem to replace/reattach as a soldering iron will blow the link, they need to be crimped on unless you can isolate them from the heat. In the photo of the kit on the QER web site they do include two crimpable tubes.

I've heard that it's possible to change RD4 (or any other Citroen original headunit) speaker output to line level with diagbox. So if you have amplifier with only line level input, use diagbox, and after that you have to make (or buy) cables that connect speaker output to rca-input.

Carrefour have been selling an own-brand ready-to-use screenwash (5L) for some time. Heavily laced with IPA, it's been rather good at its job, including removing insects.

It's just been replaced by one from Krafft (looks as if they also made Carrefour's own) which contains Rain-Ex. Tried it this week: excellent stuff, and makes wiper action...

I'm fairly certain I read on here recently of someone who had a C5 airbag fault caused by moving the steering column?
I moved the drivers seat and steering column a couple of days ago and now on starting I get a faulty airbag warning. I squeezed the connectors under the seat but it's still there.
