Removing Citroen C3 number plate bulb assembly

I have a loose C3 (04 diesel) number plate bulb assembly that needs replacing. So I think I will replace both with led units.

How do you take the rear number plate bulb assembly out, so that I can replace them with led's?

They should be rectangular units that are eased out with a small flat bladed screwdriver at one end and levered out.

Hang fire - I just double checked and this is a slightly different unit - see below on how it is assembled:

If just replacing the bulb you can unscrew the lens as shown and access the bulb - or replace the unit - entirely up to you.

Thanks for the update, so it looks like they cab be unscrewed to take the lens cover off.

I am thinking of replacing the units for led ones, doing a straight forward swap. One of the units needs to be replaced as it is hanging down on the one side and cannot be clipped back in.

I looked at this today and there was no luck. No screws in it to unscrew.

I think I may take the whole unit out and replace them with led's, but there is no way it is coming out in its current place. Is there a way that I can take the boot gray plastic trim off so I can release the clips from behind?

So if you lift the tailgate up, you'll need to remove the plastic Trim (5) which is secured by panel clips:

Then you will see the following, where you should be able to access the clips and connectors:

Thanks, that is just what I needed. I thought the trim was secured with clips but without knowing you do not want to pull too hard as I don't want to break.

I have been able to take the lens off and replace the bulb, after cleaning the lens.

This video was helpful as it shows that the lens is being held in by little clips inside and you have put a long nose pier end into the one hole pushing right and then push the lens right. That will allow the inside clips to be removed.
