P0265 and Limp mode / Injector Error

After some advice please. I have a C4 Grand picasso which was originally registered in Jan 14. Second owner, it's done about 40k miles. JUST as I am about to finish off paying for the car after 5 years, I was doing 70 odd MPH on Tuesday and got an Engine failure light on the dashboard and the car went into Limp mode. Thankfully managed to get to the hard shoulder and got it recovered as wasn't sure it if was safe (or a good idea!) to continuing driving, despite being pretty close to home.

Anyway - bought one of the bluetooth diagnostic devices and I got error P0265 - which seems like an injector issue.

Right before Christmas - when I have a family of 5 - during COVID - it's fair to say it's pretty bad timing to now have to consider having to spend £1000(+)? on getting these replaced.

The next day I started the car again and the error had gone - only went round the corner as my dad suggested putting in some diesal cleaner and error didn't come back on during this short journey. Did another similar trip today but the error came back.

What do people suggest? I have read about getting fuel filters replaced, potentially getting the injectors cleaned - but I'm also concious that all of this will likely cost money and am I just spending and spending with a low likelyhood of success or has anyone had a good experience of anything other than a replacement working?

Any advice is really appeciated - I know very little about cars (other than how to drive them!) so just trying to understand my options really.

If you pop your VIN up I may be able to relate that code specifically to the engine management system on your vehicle (the VIN is automatically masked from public view on submission).

On the DV6C engine, this relates to a short circuit between 2 wires on injector 2. There is a short circuit between the 2 tracks detected for 400 ms when injector 2 is controlled.

When this happens, the following back up mode is activated: cutting of fuel to injector 2, cruise control is deactivated, the EGR valve closes off, the Turbo switches from turbocharging pressure regulation to controlled mode, 'easy move' function of the electronic parking brake is deactivated, and torque will be limited if you have a fully automatic or electronically controlled manual gearbox.

The suspect areas are: Fuel injector 2, the Electrical harness or the Connectors.

You could try swapping injector 2 with one of the others & see if the fault moves to the different cylinder to confirm the injector is at fault.
I would think the likelihood is a failed injector, they are a fairly common failure.
