Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

does anybody know where it connects to the gearbox? Mine has become intermittent, especially when the engine is hot and I need to investigate.

The problem could well be to be caused by the 2 pin plug on the lead from the sensor. End of the cylinder head just above the gearbox. Give it a good clean and a smear of grease

Anyone know if the rubber bushings on the top engine tie bar assembly on a V6 are available separately? Seem it's only available as a complete assembly from the homeland at an unacceptable amount of ££££'s. I bought a standard engine mounting bush but it's bigger than both the ones fitted to the tie bar.

The larger of the two top mount bushings is just slightly smaller than the standard engine mounting bush so it wont quite fit. Also, the standard engine mount item has a steel ring right around it whereas the top mount bush has only two curved steel plates on either side.

Have now replaced all the spheres on 1.9td estate in last 10k.

The two rear ones I did today. I suspected them less than perfect. Reason was that on going round slow corners with very rough holes in road you would hit one a certain way and get a loud thump which went through the car...............as though you had hit a huge pothole.

After fitting the proper electric window motor unit to Juliet, I was enjoying the warm weather yesterday when I picked up my young lady.
The window was down, and when she closed the door there was a thunk as it bounced off the motor unit.
Got home and re-attached it, but the clip doesn't hold it.
Any idea where I can get a new clip from?

Took the V6 to Kwik Fit today for a regass of the aircon as there were bubbles in the sight glass. They removed 525 grammes of refrigerant and 3ml of oil, did a 20 minute vacuum test for leaks and recharged with 825 grammes of gas and 13ml of oil, so it did appear that it was a bit low. Works a treat now and all for £45. :D

Anyway bottom line is the AC works, but I don’t think its correct, I see nothing in my site glass, I mean absolutely nothing, but the AC still blows icy cold.

Pretty sure you won't if the system is full, ie no space for bubbles.
Cassy has no bubbles after having her system regassed.
Next month I'll be taking the other two to have theirs done.

Hi,

Don't suppose anyone has ever managed to discover the secret to removing the plastic lock button things that are on the top sill of the door interior, without breaking them? When I have to remove the door trim in Xantias, that part has to come off and is a nightmare, and I normally break it.

More relevant at the moment is if anyone knows how...

Hi All

The XM uses a very similar button with seperate plastic grip.
You can get the grips in a pack of 10 but need to know the Citroen part number to order them as they are not listed on the parts list.
On my next scrap yard visit I will try to take a look at an Xantia one and see how different it is.

Hi guys, I ran into some trouble on the good ol' ZX. I feel like one side of the rear suspension is softer than the other. It's not the dampers as I replaced them both on september 2008. But it feels like the passenger side is bouncier.

I also get more oversteer when turning right than when turning left and when braking hard, the passenger side...

I have the 3030RDS radio and I found by accident, and annoyance, that if I hold down the + or - on the steering wheel volume control button that it actually changes the radio channels. I don't think it should as there is another button for that. Tapping the button works OK, increases or decreases the volume, as it should. Nothing in the manual...

I've just come back from a couple of day working away and I find my Kangoo will barely run. SWMBO says is was working fine until she filled up with fuel, then it started playing up and only just got her the four miles home. I've checked the receipt and it definitely says unleaded so it's not her fault.

I can get it to run if I hold the throttle...

In the process of my brake overhaul I have discovered a leak from the gearbox. It seems to be coming from the banjo union on the end of the box, the one which can be seen under the nearside wheel arch. I guess there are a couple of compression washers on there but are they anything special or will any washer of the correct diameter do? Also, will...

Well I found a couple of alloy crush washers of the exact dimensions in my now obsolete kit of BMW motorbike spares, they were for gearbox drain plug.

So made sure the surrounding are was scrupulously clean and removed said banjo. Just like you said Jim, a mere dribble of oil was lost. Fitted new washers and tightened to recommended torque of...

I have two small issues with the engine in my Xantia 1.9TD SX (built 3/1996, reg 1/1997). It has the Bosch mechanical fuel pump.

When warm it ticks over at about 850/900rpm but is 'lumpy'. You can feel the shimmer when sitting in the seat. To get a smooth tickover it needs to be at 1000rpm.

I get kangarooing when decelerating through certain...

Just wanted to say a BIG THANKS to both Jim and Richard for discovering that my VSX has been stuck in hard mode since i bought it...and that must have been about a year ago now :shock: :lol: Honestly i thought it rode soft enough :P

After a quick ELIT and Lexia diagnosis, a spare diode fix it kit was sourced from Jim's boot :) and then fitted....

Okay so I need the car servicing but what with all the other things I simple can't afford the 350 quid it will cost AND probably some problems sorted and I suspect new breakpads fitted.

Reverse lights have not been working for some time so decided to have a look today. I decided to try a test light to establish if any power was getting through.
so with the tailgate raised ,trim removed wires exposed, next thing to put gear shift into reverse, ok now put side lights on................ what the ignition is off at key and the whole...

Had a quick look today - sure enough, just the same as Graham's pictures (not quite as bad!) Red wire is broken (presumably the HRW feed) and the heavy green wire has broken insulation. Another job to tackle then.... Wonder why it affects the estates more than the hatches - perhaps the estate door works through a larger angle?

In the process of doing my cambelt, I am over the mileage and been on borrowed time. Bit the bullet today.

I`ve got a very slight drag on the 1.9td estate. Rear N/S.

I have had a go with die grinder to remove ridge at inside circumference of disc. I thought the pads may be sticking on it. The squeak is intermittent. Never get it when raining or roads are wet.

IME N/S rear calipers get more of the grunge and seem to give trouble as a result. I have...

sounds like the imfamous corosion build up between the calliper and susp arm, remove calliper clean/remove corosion them follow steve's (myglaren) sudgestion of placeing a thin plastic membrain and grease between calliper and arm, to try and prevent further build up

This is the way to go, since the problem is essentially electrolytic in nature....

I as wondering how often you change the engine oil on the Berlingo because I had oil disapearing under load if I neglected it past 3,000 miles.
Apparently engine oil starts to break down after 2,000 miles anyway, maybe increasing the frequency at which you change the oil might improve the situation although having said that you are topping...

Hi all help and advice is needed on the above topic :) :)

I have taken what seems to be the most common reply when asking for advice on the clutch replacement and decided to get someone to do it for me :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

The 1.9TD clutch is a bit different to the HDi 110 - although the same in principal (pull operation rather than push) the 1.9TD is cable operated and the relase bearing is fixed to pressure plate. No need for a special tool on re-assembly - you just make sure the release fork fingers are in the right place and they slide in behind the release...

I know little about the lexia other than what I read on here and also seeing JIm's in action but someone has mentioned having a pre-lexia tool that he thinks is called an Actia.

Does anyone know about these and is it worth pursuing if cheap enough?

Shows how useful a good up-to-date ELIT is Wheeler. Personally, for run of the mill stuff, given the quick boot and self-powered nauture, I'd prefer an ELIT over the Lexia.

I replaced my noisy rear wheel bearing today. It took less than an hour.

The replacement hub (GSF) does not come with a new grease cap, so I carefully removed and re-used the old one.

The nut was not as tight as some have reported, 1 Grunt with a 3 foot bar loosened it. The socket BTS should be 40mm (available on ebay), but I only had 41mm...

The first one I bought online, and the GSF website is not very well organised for finding related parts. Many Xantia parts that are stocked to not appear when you search by car model. (try finding rear arm bearings listed under Xantia)

I had to return the first one because it was missing the nut and a ball bearing (probably a previous customer...

It's just the diaphragm type spring washer used to hold the heat shield on. Provided you are careful about taking it off, and then flatten it, you should be able to re-use it.

My M Reg 2ltri passed everything for MOT except emissions. Just over a year ago had complete new exhaust (with Cat) and passed fully. Car has only done 64k from new and is a fab car.
Problem is the Emission results which are as follows:
1st Id Test CO Actual 0.816 Fail
HC Actual 88 Pass
Lambda 0.973 Pass
2nd Fast Id CO Actual 1.496 Fail
HC...

Tightened up the throttle cable to keep the revs higher but after a while it started wavering up and down then settled at the usual idle speed so i'm starting to think its something to do with the fuel line somewhere.

Do you think i'm on the right track ?

got sorted.local mechanic put the computer on car.3 faults came up.faulty air flow meter,faulty brake light switch,and turbo pressure reduced.the brake lights were working fine and the car had power once it got goin in the morning so he decided to change the air flow meter.he got it from local scrappy.that cured the problem in the mornings,car...

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me where the fuel filter is at the tank end of the system (I assume there is one)? Is it easy to get at? Over the weekend I emptied 10l of suspect WVO into my tank and I just want to be prepared, should the worst happen!

Further to my post C5 cutting out.
Does any one actually KNOW what the fault code P1113 means?
Its a 2 Lt HPi. RAC diagnostic gizzmo came up with this code and no info available, RAC HQ say it means air intake sensor local citroen dealer technical department won't help unless they have read the code for them selves.

Local Citroen main dealer is now trying to sort this, they are saying their diagnostics point to the High pressure regulator, as apparently the fuel supply is being allowed to keep coming until the high pressure rail is at 125 bar instead of the 85 bar it should be, at which point it is tripping into emergency shut down.

Petrol C5's do not to have a fuel filter. Given the state of the fuel in the sediment bowl on the bottom of the fuel pump when I drained the tank at the weekend,I am thinking a fuel filter would be a good idea to protect the high pressure side of the system ( I have a HPi engine) has any one fitted an in line fuel filter before?

It is not a good idea to fit a fuel filter before the pump because any restriction will reduce the pressure at the pump inlet and cause cavitation which will cause fuel pump noise and may significantly reduce the life of the pump.

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know if I unplug the EGR valves on our Xantia HDi if it will trigger the engine management warning?

Someone has told me the EGR valves could be what is causing the car to smoke.

If it does I know someone with an ELIT machine, will this work on a 2000 Xantia?

Long term project question, The fuel pump on my DS23 EFi failed does any one know what the delivery pressure should be for this system? I think it is a bosch J tronic. Suggestions as to what modern fuel pump would make a suitable replacement.

T-reg Xantia est 1.9TD Bosch pump

I don't think electronic control is much of an improvment over a good mechanical pump. All the XM's I have had mechanical pumps, in fact I have three all registered in Jan 96, the last ones with mechanical fuel injection and almost the last manuals.

The 2.1 engine is a much improved version of the 1.9 with 12 valves and a redesigned cooling...

Hello to everyone. I have now got to replace all 4 tyres so was thinking of fitting 205-60-15 instead of the 185's. Could people who have done this in the past recommend it. Has anybody got any advice on removing a foglight (offside) There are 3 bolts holding it in place the lower one is no problem, and the one on the side of the wing troublesome to a lesser extent. However the top inner bolt seems almost impossible. Definately the manufacturers never considered that a replacement would ever be necessary. At this...

Thanks for the advice. Removed one headlamp & it was still a bumber off job . Well partly off - loosened one side of the Bumber & pulled it our about six inches. Although I managed to looses the bolts on removing the headlight, the problem was to remove the old lamp & inserting the new one. So it was necessary to partly pull out the bumber. Job...
