Hi, my 1997 Xantia TD, I have just noticed quite a large lip on the edge of the front discs. Iam about to change them, Iam guessing the two torx screws hold the disc on? are they generally easy to free? thanks in advance Terry .

Hi all,

My CD player had a CD stuck in. I opened it up and got the CD out, but now it doesn't seem to detect CD's when you try to put them in. It won't try to pull the CD in or anything.

So a few questions if anyone can help please.

Is this a common/known fault?

If I need to buy another, do some of the models play mp3 CD's as mine doesn't?

Is...

I have '12 C5 with sat nav and when I drive above the 120Km mark it beeps annoyingly. I have read somewhere that the overspeed alarm could be accessed through the button at the end of the wipers stick. I have tried doing that but all that this button does is changing the 'Mode' in the main screen (sat nav screen) between...

An 03....when you put it up, starts to to fall, not right down but far enough that you've got to lift it to go in....I know there's springs either side, are they buggerd or is there hydralics or a bit of both, just started yesterday

i have a citroen Zara hdi on a 51 plate. every time i start the engine the boot click's open. any suggestions please.

WARNING- it is very easy to snap the fuel pipe connectors on top of the filter housing if it's lent on whilst working on the engine.
I did this whilst replacing the injector fire washers and seals Sunday. Did a temporary repair and went on a test drive, after which it became aparant that one of the injectors wasn't seated properly and was making...

As i bloody hate the hearing aid grey....I know it can be changed, but did they ever make it with a black inteior, if not, what's the best stuff to use on the dash and door cards

I have just acquired a 2006, C5 2.0 Hdi Exclusive estate. I love the car, but there is a bad draught that enters in the vicinity of the steering column at speeds over 50 mph, getting worse as speed increases. With this cold weather (external air temp -2C) this is very uncomfortable, especially as I have a circa 1 hour commute. I have tried...

all, hoping to drive to northern Croatia in just over a week's time..

There isn't much I can do with the C5 (hdi 110) before then, save an oil/filter change.. it had a FSH but the last service was about 100K (car also had a bottom pulley, cambelt, cambelt sprokect then.)

I got the car at about 112K and it's now around 120k, so it really needs...

I have tried birdman (he got me mine) and he cannot get them now....I told my niece I would program her a new key for her car as she only has one, I have had the key cut on carkeyhelp.co.uk and have the key,but I need to obtain the code so I...

HI Forum

I have a simple problem but am not quite sure how to go about it. There is a 3-way junction on my xantia in the middle of the car between the two front wheels. It has been leaking for some time (see photo). I have been given a replacement part by Citroen, but i'm not sure if it's the correct one (see other photo), and if it is, how I...

Saw this video which explains ok onclick= window.open(this.href);return false; but have some questions.
My pulley is sort of ok but the outer can be moved sideways a little by hand so rubber could be separating, otherwise seems ok.
I am doing a bit of work so replacing now seems a good idea, while I have my hands dirty.

I read up on other...

HI Forum

So much time away from the Forum, and it's all changed! Well it's good to be back.

Just changed the rear spheres again, lasted 4 years the last ones, not bad I suppose.

I have a slight problem with the steering. When going slowly and i turn the steering wheel to the right i hear a knocking, clunking noise. If i'm going over a bump at...

I've noticed that the coolant in my Xant is a somewhat nasty rusty colour, starting to wonder how much antifreeze has been used in its past and indeed when the last time the coolant was changed.

So on top of dropping the coolant out and refilling with new stuff, is there much merit to flushing the coolant system?
One thought would be to change...

I've ordered a shiny new key fob shell as my one is worn badly. I can open up my old one and the new one without any issues. However, the new one has a blank blade. I don't know how to transfer the blade from the old fob to the new one. Any ideas? Or should I get the blank blade key cut? If so, what information do I need to get his done?

Hi,
I think my heater matrix may be leaking on a 2001 dispatch van. The drivers floor keeps getting wet and theres been no rain!
Can anyone advise on how to change the matrix? I'm assuming the whole dash has to come out? I have tried to use citroen servicebox but it wouldn't work on my Windows 7 comp. If anyone could post the workshop manual...

When driving around corners or on hills at any speed a hear what I think are my rear mudflap(s) catching on the ground. Is this normal? It happens whether in sport mode or not.

hi,does anyone know if it is possible to hire a seems meter from anywhere so that i can change my timing belt on 2003 2.0l hdi picasso please

Hi,new to forum so be gentle plz. Have 53 plate xsara picasso with 150k miles, well serviced and used daily as a taxi. Recently had a new clutch put in but still had a problem. Mechanic had a look and found a problem with gearbox. Got a gearbox from a scrap car had it fitted and when car put back together it will not start. Tried and tried til...

I picked up a Xantia estate at the weekend, and other than possibly needing an LHM flush in the near future, the suspension seems to be working fine. However, the first time I drove it after dark, I was constantly flashed by oncoming drivers, and my dad (who I was following briefly) confirmed that my dipped lights were indeed blinding
I...

After a bit of a saga with a load of water in the IP on my Xantia (engine)/Expert (body) last october/november (see onclick= window.open(this.href);return false; ) the van has been working fine for the few trips it took, although it's mostly sat on the drive all winter. I recently went to Wales and back ( from Cambridge), which was fine until...

Hi people, anyone know if rear headrests from a C5 estate will fit into a C3, both are 2003?

thanx.

Well eventually i got round to the rear spheres today as the old ones were pretty hard. Job went fine, no probs, spheres came of with zero hassle, new seales lubed and seated, new spheres seated nicely. Starts up the car and citrobics work in every position. Then set it to normal drive height, get it out on the road! SCARED ME OUT MY SKIN!
Firs...

My C5 II (2.0 HDi 16v) has an annoying rattle at times.
It mostly occurs under load, comes and goes, and appears for all the world as though the exhaust system is contacting the bodywork somewhere near the bulkhead. It sounds and feels too loud to be a loose heatshield, baffles etc.
I've had a good look, but the exhaust is well clear throughout...

I've managed to get my music onto my phone now, which I also use as my sat-nav sometimes. I've got a really good air-vent holder for this purpose and I can charge the phone at the same time. However, if I want to listen to the music on my phone I need to keep it in the glovebox, which means I can't use it for sat-nav.

Thus, I need to find a way...

Hi Folks

Just done a quick search of the forum but I haven't seen what I am looking for so thought it best to ask you experts directly...

Steering racks, are they all the same across the Xantia range?

Reason I ask is that my Rack knocks/clunks and is heavy. It isn't the UJ or the tie rods and I think it is the rack itself. I am just going to...

I have the chuff chuff sound of a leaky injector seal.
The main dealer wants over £400 to replace the seals.
I think this a bit over the top for 4 seals which cost about a tenner.
Has anyone done this job?
Could you tell me if there are any other parts I need to order, besides the seals and the plastic injector holder, which may be neccessary?...

Can anyone Tell me which is the main fan- the one that kicks in first, please ?. The one on battery end, or the HP pump end.
Thanks

Hi, just changed the heater plugs on my 1997 Xantia. disconnected battery before starting the job. finished the fitting, reconnected battery, now the blower is full on all the time!! anybody got any ideas how to resolve it?cheers Terry .

Just a quick question what does the turbo electro valve do as I disconnected mine and it made no difference to the running of the car Cheers Ian

I have to get a new battery for SWMBO's Clio. After spending an hour trying to Slide the plastic cover in the direction of the arrows I resorted to tinternet, where a nice chap with a video said Arnold Swarzenegger couldn't slide the bleedin thing. Insert a small screwdriver into the open section (the bit for a keyring) and give it a sharp pull...

I have a C5 which has sat for 12 months because it had most of the classic faults.
1) ESP/ASR not functioning would come up on a run every couple of weeks
2) Anti pollution fault appeared every five minutes.
3) Immobiliser fault would appear every fifth attempt to start.
(Nerve racking when you have to drive on and off ferries regularily!)
Etc....

Hi all

does anyone know if you can pick up a cheap enough diagnostic tool for a citroen c5 2001 hdi. a lot of the ones i am looking at on ebay / amazon state they will work with petrol engine after 2000 and diesel after 2004!!

thanks

Just checking what could cause this as I have had a few problems / changes over the last months.
Bought the car which (bills provided) had all 4 spheres changed and always rode well.
Rear centre sphere has not been changed, but will be. Hydroneumatic 6 sphere setup.

Had a problem with an LHM leak which lost a lot of fluid a while back, fixed now,...

hi, could anybody tell me where the 16 pin data link is situated on 2003 2.0 hdi picasso exclusive please cheers in advance #-o

Picked up some 10W/40 Semi Synth from Aldi a few weeks ago - its made by Gulf.

Handbook says 15W/40 in the -10 - +40 degrees climate - can I run the 10 or will it cause problems.

I generally change oil & filter every 4500/5000 miles anyway. Normally use Mineral 15W/40 - Drivetec or Comma.

Cheers

Alan

Hi Mike,

I know from the C5 the battery cable is dependent on the gearbox, looking on service.citroen.com, it's similar for the S2 xantia, but to answer your question, it doesn't look like they are all the same length:

BATTERY POSITIVE CABLE
5642 F1 LONG 910 Auto gearbox AL4, BVM ML5T
5642 J4 NFP

On the 1.6 Xantia S2 there is 2 extra positive...

So I'm about to embark on a bit of an epic journey to undo and fix an absolute cluster F@*k of a job that was done on the sister in laws C8.

May as well start at the beginning. Its a 2.0 HDI auto. The timing belt went in April and went to a family friend (back street mechanic type) . After a few months it eventually came back but had been through...

Hi

Have searched the forum but can't find the answer so let me know if I've been blind! My 02 Dispatch 1.9d has developed a horrendous screech/grinding noise at idle and in every gear except 3rd. Question 1.... how do I find out what gearbox I have and then the big question 2........ Is it just something along the lines of clutch replacement or...

Might be a dumb ass question: But I need to change my pollen filter for a new one. Looking on Ebay there are various ones for a 2002 C5 (mine is a 16V 2.L Auto) but some say they only fit the HDI, some are for Estates etc.

Surely the pollen filter on the 2002 C5 is the same irrespective of what model/body shape it is? Am I right? I ask cause on...

 C4 threw a strop this afternoon - SWMBO was overtaking a tractor and it dropped into limp mode. It seems to run OK just now (driven gently), but the EML is lit, and it comes up with depollution fault soon after starting. It also chucked up a handbrake fault message for good measure but that may be just because it was in a strop! Nothing...

Is it just me or is this quite a tricky sensor to replace?

I can see it but access is difficult.

Anyone changed theirs and able to suggest tools and angle of access?

Any replies appreciated.

i just picked up a blaupunkt lausanne cd30 from a scrapyard and it actually works lol. i got it cos it had the same extra pins for the steering wheel controls. When i got home and hooked it up and the cd player and radio all worked fine, but the steering wheel controls did not. I understand that cos i got it from a vauxhall that the pins for the...

Is there a trick to getting the filter out of the lid easily? It came off eventually, but needed a good yank, and would have been better not to have to grab onto and squeeze the old, oil soaked, filter  And the oil still runs everywhere when you take the filter out of the car - or should I have left it to drain for longer?
